Not exactly what I was expecting, but I'm still relatively new to BG3 and far from being a tabletop expert. But the build made sense and was interesting to know
Well I'm glad it made sense lol. Like I said in the build, the translation of characters into BG3 will always have speed bumps.
John Rhys Davies went all-out when he swung that axe at the stunt guys playing the orcs during the fight scenes! The behind-the-scenes stuff is absolutely delightful. 😄
I think I might have chosen Champion over Battle Master for Gimli, as he seems very fond of critical hits (just ask the orc berserker at 5:50!). You _could_ maybe get away with a build that also includes barbarian by putting him in scale mail (such as the Adamantine Scale Mail), which actually visually approximates his film armor pretty well. It wouldn't have as high AC, given his relatively low DEX, though.
I do love that you remembered Gimli's use of throwing axes!

I considered Champion over Battlemaster, but Battlemaster ended up being chosen as the more interesting and flavorful choice. And yes the scale mail is good too but I felt having Gimli in heavy armor was quite important. He needs to be very tanky. It's said that he was so strong he could carry around his armor like it was nothing.
@@GeekEKittenGaming Fair enough! Makes a lot of sense to me. And I agree that Battlemaster is generally more interesting than Champion - Champion's benefits are mostly "under the hood," as it were, for one thing. Battlemaster adds a lot more flexibility and adaptability when it comes to different builds, while Champions are pretty much built for one thing (crit-fishing).

thank you alot for doing this series. just about that time to start up my 2nd solo playthrough. Ive done Snoop Gob, a goblin bard. and Aang the avatar, as the monk of 4 elements in multiplayer lobbies, so funny. this game is just about endless with the customization. such a joy

All in all I don't even play BG3, but this was still fun to watch.
Not to worry, I have a running list of requested/suggested characters that will be put into polls. I'm certain this isn't the end of LOTR characters - just a pause :)

One may need to purchase more RAM to be able to accommodate all these characters!
It'd be great to be able to assemble them all into one party rather than have separate games for all of them. ... "Hey Larian! Don't hang up the BG3 towel yet!"

@christopherhiller1035 ah I wish but Larian is already working on two new games. The only way we're getting bigger parties is if some mods get really ambitious.
@GeekEKittenGaming I think they have a mod that let's you increase party size, come to think of it... but I'm waiting for Patch 7. Hopefully, this Patch will streamline the modding procedure so one doesn't need a Computer Science Degree to install mods. Lol!
@christopherhiller1035 yeah I'm waiting for official modding at this point. Setting up unofficial modding was quite difficult and then I had to turn it off anyway because I have a multi-player game going with friends that aren't using mods.

@Djjustb no worries. Understandable.
I disagree with battlemaster, Gimli is a Champion through and through. More crits will lead to bonus attacks from great weapon master, and a second fighting style will raise his AC.
Boromir and Faramir may have been battlemasters, dwarves power through.
Champion would work well. We went with battlemaster as a more flavorful choice.
Bilbo build when?
Bilbo is on the running list of requested builds. There will be many polls coming up to determine what character builds get created. Because there's been so many requests, I let the audience decide what comes next :) I'm sure Bilbo will get a turn, it just may take awhile.
Hopefully soon. But she puts a lot of work and time researching these characters and getting the builds just right.

@christopherhiller1035 it's actually the research/building that takes the most time. Usually editing is the time sink but not with these videos lol.
