Hey Geeks! I forgot a crucial note in my video! I meant to explain why I didn't choose the sharpshooter feat, which I'm sure seemed odd to many of you. My reasoning is that the sharpshooter feat imposes a -5 penalty to hit. To me, Legolas's accuracy is even more important than the damage he deals (Legolas doesn't miss!) However, I can understand why some would rather take the -5 penalty and increase the damage output, so if you decide you want to take sharpshooter, I would skip Athlete and use another method to even out the DEX score, whether that be doing the ability scores a little differently in the beginning and keeping it at 16, or using an item to even it out.
Another lore reason for taking Wasteland Wanderer: In an extended/deleted scene from the second movie, Legolas ends up drinking some 20-30 beers before he starts to feel the effects of alcohol. Poison resistance XD

I’m currently playing a Legolas build but I made him a straight champion fighter.
I wanted the 3 attacks every turn at level 11 as it felt very thematic with the speed Legolas can shoot his arrows, plus champion can pick a second fighting style too.
I also made him a wood elf as even though heritage wise, he is likely more of a High Elf, he's also lived and fought alongside the Silvan wood elves his entire life so culturally I felt he was more of a wood elf.
I had originally thought of dipping thief rogue for the extra movement but really felt that handicapped his extra abilities from going straight champion.
So instead one of the feats I gave him was Mobile so when in those instances he was in melee range he could attack with his short swords and then retreat to further away for bow attacks without triggering an opportunity attack. I also always make sure he has longstrider cast on him and I gave him crushers ring. So with mobile, longstrider, crushers ring and the wood elf extra movement I felt he was fast enough without having to dip into thief and lose that third attack plus extra fighting style.
Because of his royal background I also felt he’s less of a ranger and more of a professionally and nobility trained fighter/archer.
That’s just my interpretation though and this is still a great build, I really liked the Aragorn one you did in a past episode.
Thank you so much for sharing your build! It's great to hear how other people build these characters. I can definitely see wanting those extra attacks and an argument for skipping ranger altogether. I mainly wanted ranger for hunter / colossus slayer. I'm glad you enjoyed the build and the Aragorn one as well!
I don't see it mentioned often in comments, but if anyone in the party has longstrider, they can cast it as a ritual after a long rest to give it to everyone in the party.

I'm not sure why you didn't give him sharpshooter. If there was ever a feat that suits him, it's that one.
I actually meant to explain why I didn't in the video and then forgot 😅 The reason I didn't is because of the -5 penalty to hit. Legolas doesn't miss. His accuracy is more important than his damage dealt (in my opinion). I'll make a pinned comment on it, thank you for the reminder!
@@GeekEKittenGaming Just take Risky Ring for permanent advantage on every attack! Makes up for the -5. And let's you sneak attack with every shot
@beerbatreps3861 great tip I didn't even know about this ring! It does have the downside of disadvantage on saving throws though.

Love the videos, I have to fight myself wanting take the martial class to 5th level before switching for extra attack. Lol
Thanks - I'm glad your enjoying them! Keep in mind that there's no strictly "right" or "wrong" way to do these builds. These are suggested frameworks to keep it lore-friendly and character themed, but it's absolutely fine to change things up to make them more functional!
After watching a few of these, I tried out an “Eowyn build” on my own, and I’d love to see what you do with that one 😸

FYI, not sure if it was said, but the Graceful Cloth is sold in ACT 2 in the Mountain Pass, not ACT 1...
The Mountain Pass is still part of ACT 1 (the area where you find the Gith Creche), actually. It is considered ACT 2 once you cross the Mountain Pass and enter the Shadow Cursed Lands.

@@YanickGirouard Yeah I could see why some would call it 1.5, because it's typically the last thing you do before entering ACT 2, and many people get it confused with ACT 2 (I did at first too, so don't feel bad lol).
I'd probably recommend the spellthief longbow from act 1 for Legolas so you can regain your spell slots after a critical strike once per short rest. Will help keep hunters mark up

Heyo!! I wanted to give an update on me trying the Gandalf build for my own game.
** I'm in the middle of Act 2 so far because I wanted to do everything and anything I can in Act 1 plus I had some things going on irl.
** I'm enjoying it so far, and I have made my own custom companions (oathbreaker paladin, life cleric- which quickly turned to a rogue-ranger (eyyyy!), & battle master fighter) that pretty much act as the damage dealers since Gandalf for me is the utility party member, not really the one to deal damage (unless using magic weapon).
** I made a botch cause I didn't take weapon mastery, and instead multiclassed into cleric when I got to pick my first feat. After my next level up, I boosted his intelligence & wisdom. Might pick up weapon mastery down the line.
((Also, I don't know how, but somehow Gandalf survived some charisma checks during early game, but I had my paladin take the role after I had to reload my way out of a fight I was totally unprepared for. If you know, you know lol.))

The thing I don’t understand about sharpshooter is that it decreases your chance to hit in exchange for more damage kinda like great weapon master. The term“Sharpshooter “usually implies accuracy🤷♂️ Sharpshooter would probably be really good for a Legolas build if it actually worked the way you would think.

Extra attack this late is terrible for progression. It is also said Legolas is more of a fighter who utilizes both archery and two-weapon fighting as fighting styles. Making full Champion a better fit.
In the bonus section of the video, I stated that if you want to prioritize the extra attack or feats, you should take the levels in a different order. Making Legolas as just a Champion is a better fit for functionality - not for representation of character. My builds focus on the character over functionality, so probably not your cup of tea.
