I played with dolls until i was 15. I naturally stopped when i wasnt into it anymore. Then i went to video games. Kids arent allowed to naturally phase out of certain behaviors. They feel the need to age themselves. Its weird.

Yea same I still had dolls at 15, I read comics and played video games. I’m a 24 year old woman now and I’m glad I never fell for the bad b!tch trap. Only now do I feel like I can act grown but I still read comics, play dolls (my younger sisters and Bother have dolls), I still play video games.
I also played with dolls until about that age. I'm grateful for that. I feel sorry for all the girls who felt pressured or were forced to act grown up when there were still so young.

I swear when I was 16 to 19, I thought I was mature, I thought I was the shit. I felt like I was so ready for life and to be an adult. looking back at it just makes me cringe. I am 22 now, and it was around 20 when I realized that I am still developing and still growing up - and that that is a good thing! the older, the wiser. I am still learning, and I am grateful for that.

@@DivestedChristian That makes sense. I noticed my feet even grew in the time between I was 23 and 25, and I thought I was safe to invest in good clothes and shoes at 17. Mentally I'm still processing childhood trauma, and often feel like I'm still a kid, but I sure hope that the next generation doesn't have as bad of a quarter life crisis as most my age (~23-27) are experiencing now.

28 here. You'll still feel like that until your late 20s/30s! I felt the same way especially since I went to college at 17 and was living on my own. Realized at 23 I was still so young & immature then, and now at 28 I look back at my early 20s the same way. We're always growing and evolving, but as teenagers we just think we know everything and that we're raedy to take on the world.
I live in Brazil and here we have an influencer that on her 18yr birthday opened an privacy to create adult content. On that same day she became top 2 influencer on that plataform. I'm more scared of the adult dudes consuming her content like, literally 24 hours before she was a minor.

@madie5041 be fr. Those songs obviously had sexual inuendos but they were not so upfront. As a kid we had no idea what they was talking about until we got older. Obviously there was rap from the 90s and 00s that was extremely explicit but they were censored on the radio stations. Most people now do not listen to the radio so they don't censor the curse or inappropriate words. 😒

Things like “Apple bottom jeans” wasn’t really outward with its sexual connotations. I sung it as a kid without even knowing that the lyrics were sexual. And the lyrics (from what I remember) had no cuss words so a kid technically could sing it lol.
When I was coming up, I owned and adored every Jodeci, R. Kelly, Dru Hill, Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, NWA, Eazy E, Three 6 Mafia, Foxy Brown, Biggie, and Lil Kim album. That was the 90s. It was just as filthy fun and colorful then, but the cadence, syntax, and overall delivery was actually so good. The shit today is filthy, but so fucking ignorant. I used to learn new words and lingo from the music. It tickled my ears and light up my mind. There’s nothing inherently wrong with explicit music. Now, to be fair, I was 13-14 when I was listening to this stuff, and I listened to it all throughout high school, and college. Hell, 25+ years later, I still only listen to music from before about 2006-2007.

I was 14 when I heard the NWA song, “She Swallowed It.” It’s so fucking offensive, but that beat, samples, production, and overall sound was excellent. It’s violently disrespectful but almost to the point that, as a teen, I would laugh because it was that damn shocking. It couldn’t possibly be real?! But it was. It’s very easy to romanticize shit from yesteryear, but I promise I could write a dissertation listing countless rap, hip-hop, and R&B artists from my childhood, teens, college years, and young adulthood.
But really, go back and listen to that particular NWA track, and tell me that shit wasn’t like this 30+ years ago. The primary difference is that, the quality of the sound was far superior. These producers like Dre, DJ Yella, and MC Ren, or even Daz from Tha Dogg Pound- they were so skilled on the production end. It still sounds incredible. If this particular song was just instrumental, I’d actually enjoy listening to it. The other difference is we were not on the internet and we could not hear this music outside of someone buying the tape or the CD. It was there, but it wasn’t permeating every nook and cranny of culture and such.

This may be a bit off topic but I am a 17 year old in high school, I often find myself comparing myself to the other girls my age. Most of them have jobs, boyfriends, cars, and they are really pretty. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but being around it really hits heavy. I know I'm not a loser but I feel so much like one, I feel like I'm missing out and I am behind. One time I wore a Hello Kitty shirt and rainbow socks to school one day. These girls were making fun of me because I was dressed that way at my age. I even beat myself up for it and told myself I looked so childish. But I am a child so I shouldn't say those things to myself. I just wish I could feel confident and pretty too at school.

I embraced my childhood as long as I could. I thought my friends were weird or something. Even as a young adult I enjoyed kids stuff. It helps a lot that i look young for my age so I was able to pull it off. Kids should be able to enjoy childhood and kids stuff as long as they could. Some of us humans can live over 100 years old and in some cases 123 years... plenty of time to be all grown. But childhood is really brief like a fart in a hurricane winds.
It's because we wanted more freedom and more places to hang out, and we most likely didn't think about the responsibilities that come with adulthood. Early to mid 20s sounds like the desired age range for most people.

Also, I remember being SO uncomfortable when I got attention from grown men as a teenager…I literally wanted the floor to swallow me up. My mom thought it was funny when it happened, and would (playfully) tease me, like, “oh he likes you!” THIS would embarrass me even more. She’d grown up getting constant male attention from about 12/13yrs old, with the figure of a grown woman, so I think it was just normalized to her. I kinda wonder if these girls’ moms are the same, so now they don’t see how massively f**ked up it is for their daughters to be getting the same attention. They’ve been desensitized & think acting like this is a perfectly normal part of your teenage years.

Definitely on the parent when they’re that young, but once they’re in high school it’s hard to keep tabs on everything they do. It’s up to the parent to teach them the values that they will choose to uphold, but again it’s hard to guarantee that they won’t be influenced by their friends/peers

I'm glad that my parents didn't monitor me, but I was always more or less responsible, and oversight would've been horrible for my development. So you should still keep in mind that teenagers are individuals too, so there's no one size fits all solution. I guess the most important thing is to create a climate of trust, so your child will willfully talk to you about stuff.

Grew up in the Caribbean and honestly: “baddie” culture has been around for too long.But back then it was shunned by the west for being “ratchet” and “ghetto”. I remember girls in my school, being SIX and EIGHT throwing ass to fete music. When the dancing seasons came, they were out with their crop tops, shorts and weaves mimicking adults.
The most popular were the ones who parents let them have phones, braids and revealing clothes early. Extra points if you had a boyfriend or could bring boys round and could put on make up. Even my own mother, started talking to me about getting braids/weave and doing my edges at 12/13 because she was worried I’d get bullied. It was common as were boys doing drugs after schools and girls dropping out because they were pregnant at 15-17
The “baddie” aesthetic is a lifestyle wether or not you wish to admit it but it has a price, especially for the younger ones. So many throw their lives away to chase a dream. Every year, our form teachers would give us a speech about “Dont be a statistic”. Aunties and mommas were pulling out their hair.
However, now that it’s become so popular in the West they’re now realizing how bad the consequences are.

As a parent of a preteen girl, I believe we have to do our part to protect and guide our children. My 9 year old was getting teased in (sad to say) black schools because she was wearing non-designer sandals, had a child-like body, and wearing age-appropriate dresses in elementary! Her classmates wanted her to wear the latest Jordans, have a bigger booty/breasts, and have the typical aesthetic of a teen. She is pretty self-aware and did not let peer pressure get to her. Fortunately, she could talk to me about it and she survived their antics. We recently moved to another state for my job and it was the best decision ever to move from such an ignorant place. She is free to be herself now and happy. I know everyone doesn’t have the ability to just leave their hometown so they may just conform to avoid being bullied. With that being said, it is a collective ignorance that is being passed down from previous generations that is affecting our community. Unfortunately, I believe a lot of mothers/fathers are living vicariously through their kids. Our toxic belief as a parent is that we should give our kids everything we didn’t have access to. It’s actually unhealthy and shows how unhealed a lot of adults are. Children wouldn’t have access to designer items without their toxic parents trying to give them the life they didn’t have. It’s really sad. Social media has everyone pretending to be celebrities. Sad part is, a lot of influencers are sponsored and you only see them glamorizing their lifestyles for content (their job basically). Meanwhile, some of these teens parents’ are spending their last to make their children look like they have money.
I didn't need a bra until sophomore year and didn't get a period until I was 15 the same year. I got bullied so bad in the early 2000s. I also was an athlete which saved my literal soul and life. In the end looking back I'm glad I wasn't grown and popular.
This commentary is on point. Young girls nowadays don’t have the privilege of “growing into their looks.” There’s no awkward phase, no ugly duckling phase, no grace period. It’s crazy when I see pictures of young girls at high school dances who look like they’re at least 21 years old. The dresses are sexy, the hair and makeup are all professionally done. Girls are wearing wigs in high school. There’s a lot going on now and too much pressure for young girls and women to fit a certain aesthetic.

I (I’m in the US) also had uniforms for middle school and I’m grateful, even if it was to hide the massive wealth gap from the tech babies and the east side (didn’t work since you could tell if they walked/got picked up versus took the bus).
Fellow Indian here . I am also so goddamn glad my school has uniforms and no makeup rules , but unfortunalty there are a few "feminist" girls who sexualize their own school uniforms . Thankfully they don't influence anyone .

Me too, in the U.S., we would always have these essays to write where the prompt was “Should schools stop requiring uniforms to be worn?” and I always advocated for us to keep wearing them. Instead of children feeling insecure about their clothes, cause they have the same uniform every day, they can just focus on being kids and their academics. Yes having your own clothes is great to wear to school, but I hated it because I didn’t really have the latest trendy items. Even now, I’m glad my job requires us to wear uniform shirts and specific pants and shoes.
I 100% believe the parents have a hand in this. Being a mom of a 5 year old i have heard moms say "im not buying my daughter princess clothes and character shoes because they are ugly" and go on to dress their kids like they would dress themselves.. kids are having to take on these adult images because at home they arent being allowed to be children. Makes me think of the sad beige moms that color down their kids..

I agree with you. Now I don’t dress my toddler in princesses and characters much because I don’t support anything Disney. But when she gets older and she likes a certain character/princess and wants to wear some of that stuff it wouldn’t bother me. I work in childcare and I see young young children with nail polish, ankle bracelets, fake tattoos, temporary hair color, belly shirts etc. and those ones usually can’t read and are behind in school. Makes me sad.

Although this is a societal issue, I blame the parents for how they’re raising their children. My daughter is 19 and will be 20 this year. I set rules for her and enforced them. I also did not allow her to grow up before her time. Everything she wore and did was age appropriate. It was a constant struggle because she was influenced by these new societal trends and standards, but we got through it. Parents do not give up on your children! Set rules, boundaries, standards and expectations for your babies. Trust me, they’ll thank you later.

As a 16-year-old, I get told that I look younger - like I'm some sort of anomaly - probably because we live in a society where children look like adults. The mention that young girls feel pressured to look older reminds me of how I used to feel insecure about how 'youthful' I look.
And it's true that teens and tweens who are still attached to their childhood get bullied. If I hadn't been homeschooled, life would have been BRUTAL because at 13 I still played the way all kids do.

Honestly, even (most) NYC clubs are creepy where ladies are allowed at age 21, but men have to be 25 years old….the age gap is being forced upon young women throughout society….as a teen, I constantly had grown men tell me how grown I looked for my age & I had to constantly remind them that I was a child! Just because I have boobs, doesn’t mean I’m grown! I used to just find it uncomfortable, but as an adult (later) realized that it was predatory….it f*caked with my mind so much that I still hide my body(I’m 41) so that I don’t attract unwanted attention!

I know a lot of songs don't have kid friendly versions now, but it makes me wonder if it's the parents letting kids have free run of the internet without putting CZcams into kids mode, or what it is. I thought I'd come here from the perspective of a teenage girl:
It is damn near impossible to not want to grow up fast nowadays. We can't be slightly obnoxious or look awkward because social media has us being compared to grown adults, both by others and by ourselves.
Every girl I have met my age has at least one nerdy and/or childlike interest that they don't talk about because they get met with plain disgust when they do.
The lack of third spaces sucks as well. My best friend doesn't go to my school and it is a huge struggle to find somewhere to meet up. The park? We're told we're loitering and not welcome. The mall? Everything is crazy expensive and you get dirty looks or even kicked out if you're browsing for too long. The library? Closed because funding is being revoked. There are pretty much no places where teens can be teens which leads to us either spending too much time online or ending up in dangerous situations.
At the end of the day, kids are always going to try to fit in. It just sucks that nowadays, 'fitting in' means spending a bunch of money and looking/acting 30+ at 14.
TLDR: The line between teen and adult is forever being blurred, kids are cruel, there are no third spaces for us anymore and everything about us needs to be perfect or we're 'cringe'.

Honestly as a teen girl myself, I always have to hide childlike aspects of my personality because if I show them, my peers will go away from me, avoiding me or giving me odd looks. “Fitting in” was and is such a big concept I. My tween and teen life revolves around it.
It’s easier said then done but for any teenager reading this, you don’t want the validation of people who truly don’t care about who you are inside anyways. Beauty will fade, clothes can be stolen or destroyed. Focusing on your character will have long lasting results and that’s when you’ll find real connections that aren’t surface level. Lastly, high school may feel permanent but those four years will be over before you know it and you won’t see majority of those people again. Live life for you and don’t spend most of it scrolling.
@@kaliha.jI whole heartedly agree. I am almost 23 and I graduated in 2019 so I had social media and I swear high school is so secondary. I was heavily bullied and never fit in in high school. I tried so hard to fit in and it made my life hell, to the point where I didn’t care that I had like 1 friend and didn’t talk to anyone. At the time it feels like the end of the world, but now as an adult it really is such a small piece of your life puzzle. I am not friends with a single soul from high school, I’ve met new adult people that genuinely care about me and treat me like a real friend, shared the same interests and someone I can be entire self around. As hard as it is to take it because trust me I’d hear it, love your childhood. The second that last day of high school is over, your life genuinely changes. There’s no norms and no such thing as fitting in when your an adult. There’s people out there that enjoy what you do, treat you great and accept you. It takes time, but my biggest advice is be your true genuine self, even as hard as it may be. Once you do become an adult, people like real people, not someone trying to be like someone else. You’ll have what you want one day, you just have to fight through.

The pressure is insane! I am 17. But this has been a thing ever since I was in middle school. There isn’t a stage where we get to be teenagers. I have very strict parents that don’t let me have certain kind of clothes and etc… which I guess makes me not follow these trends about revealing clothes, latest iPhones, and having cars.
I want to go to college and major in computer science. So in school right now I am very focused and putting effort… but since I take school seriously I get labeled as smart and introverted… (which is a bad thing for a bad bitch ig) girls around me seem to not care about their education… just expensive clothing, who to put in their place, and showing up late everyday…
I hope it turns well for me and other girls in my boat wanting to become successful without “fitting in to today’s standards” :)

yes, i hope that in the very near future we can come closer as a community and come to more of an agreement on most things. some black people cant even agree that we still have an abundance of work that needs to be done before we are truly treated equally, some think that since slavery ended we’ve been good. we haven’t, and all of the issues in our community is the proof. if we can come together as a community and support one another a lot more, it will bolster us and we will get a lot more respect within and outside of the community.

Coming from a teen that had hit puberty at 11, most of us had an awkward phase. The phase just didn’t last as long due to us not having anything to cater to it. A lot of us had an awkward phase towards the end of 5th grade and the beginning of middle school. I’m an ‘06 baby, around the time I hit puberty I was shopping at Claire’s and Justice. When I had developed more, I didn’t have any places to buy clothes that fit my body in the kids or junior clothing departments. That led to me having to shop in the women’s section. My parents still made sure I was age appropriate, but there was an absence of clothing for me in that stage. We also get tons of pressure from the media and our hormones. We are already self conscious about our bodies that are constantly changing everyday, and we have to uphold these standards being pushed to us. We don’t have any role models for our demographic or any spaces dedicated for us. The way that most of us dress is due to social media influences because there’s no place for us. Another point that hasn’t been mentioned is how we are all growing up where we can learn how to do makeup and hair through tutorials and we don’t have to struggle as much as older Gen Z or millennials in the past . CZcams University is a lifesaver. I don’t wear makeup or wear anything that’s revealing because of unwanted attention from creepy men, but sometimes I feel the need to in order to fit in . I believe that the problem is our lack of spaces and the wanting to fit in.

Girl, this pressure to grow fast has always been prevalent in some cultures. I'm a Brazilian favela woman in my 20s. Here, from moment a girl enters puberty people start pressuring her to develop a fully grown curvaceous body as soon as possible. If by age 13/14 you still have what they call a "flat" body (a figure that isn't a dramatic hourglass), they will openly mock you and invalidate your femininity.
This has only gone worse with time. Now, it isn't uncommon for local underage girls to get b00bjobs and take steroids to grow big, muscular butts and thighs.

In 2023 I worked as an Elementary School teacher, nowadays I'm 26 years old, it has been 9 years since I graduated from school. And make no mistake, when I was at school there was talk about sex and drinking, but I only became aware of what was sexual relationship when I was 14 or 15. When I was 11 years old I was ashamed of swearing, afraid of even showing the middle finger (because my mother said my finger would fall off if I did that).
In my work I saw children aged 11, 12 watching pornography in class, children aged 13 and 14 being sexually active... This is insane... Practically frightening, it's as if the children don't even have the freedom of their innocence. And with each passing year I want to have children less and less. There was social media when I was a teenager and pre-teen, but nowadays it has become unhealthy.
This is a huge reason why I homeschool, but I know that’s not an option for a lot of families. It’s horrible.

As a 14 almost 15 year old I have never been able to have social media, quick weave or frontal, any expensive brands or allowed to wear makeup. I think you don’t have to have all those things to have a good life. Though my life is not perfect I still think it would be a more beneficial thing to not allow those things for your children. Other than the dating part, that was me. Although I married the guy I was dating when were both 18, so that worked out. Unfortunately I was bullied for looking so much younger, but I don't care. Now in my 20s, I realize the things I was bullied for, are things I like. I've learned to accept myself, sew my own stuff, and be confident not fitting into trends. But it took a while. And even now there's still pressure. Just keep doing what works best for you, and don't let them bother you.

I think I needed to hear this. I’m 23 but I always took a more holistic natural approach. I’ve never wore a wig, have no idea how to do makeup(mascara and gloss🤣) and yeah I actually like myself. The pressure is getting WORSAAA. I remember back in 2019 when I first went natural people made fun of me. The “mini twists” everyone doing on tik tok I was doing but it wasn’t “trending”. I don’t conform too much to media. I take breaks because yeah I think it’s necessary. When I went natural I always said it was for the kids. I wanted to accept myself for who I am but in the process show children as well through representation. However, they always say “what you were deprived of as a kid becomes addiction in adulthood. These kids are not getting the attention at home. So they run to social media and older men for it. Or maybe even just the aesthetic. My dad told me that growing up. I’m not gonna say I’m a saint myself. However, I think I’m holding onto and preserving my youth now more than ever. Some of these teens will never truly understand what it felt like to be one. When Kanye said in his song Power “reality is catching up with me, taking my inner child I’m fighting for it, custody” whewww I felt that. I fight to keep her alive as much as I can. There are no spaces because these children are so bad. I graduated in 2018 but when I started to see the classes coming behind me I knew I seen a shift but I didn’t know what it was. I think the phone age needs to be put back to 13-14. Flip phones for kids 😂 I’m not bashing makeup wearers or wig wearers cause I’d love to step into that space it’s just so damn hard to be a beginner 🤣 so imma take baby steps but yeah that’s my piece.

Kids and teens do need spaces, but they’ also need to be more disciplined so that they aren’t acting a fool in public. as a 17 year old girl i have felt more ugly or different compared to other girls around my age resulting in me not feeling special and wondering if i even was in the first place. i'm trying to work on that and find myself out of things like beauty and wanting to keep up with the trends. part of me feels lucky that i can't relate to these girls. it's honestly pretty sad that girls feel like they have to do all this just to be pretty or popular and think that's they're whole purpose basically, they can't see themselves outside of that. humans are never just one thing, we're to complex for that, our brains are to complex for that. nobody is just ever one thing. i'm trying to find myself as a individual and trying not to worry to much about looks (even though it's easier said than done) and i want to be nobody but myself. that's one of the most important lessons i've learned is to be nobody but yourself, that's what makes someone special i think.

Same…I always see girls with their makeup, hair, and clothing slayed (just like influencers). It just makes me more insecure about my looks even though I don’t have to be like everyone else, but if that’s the way to be pretty, then I say to myself I am ugly. I know everyone called them cringe and corny but honestly it was a great idea that kids could listen to clean versions of popular music. But people shamed it and now look what's happening.

something that helped me become more comfortable with how I look is that a lot of modern beauty standards are the result of companies wanting to make more profit off of us. the more insecure you are, the more you want to pour money into “correcting” those insecurities, meaning the more money for them. It’s like how women shaving is only a thing because razor companies wanted to increase profit by widening their demographic. It’s easier to resist beauty standards when you think of them as capitalist wanting you to feel bad so you pay them more

I’m very interested in culture and our young people bc I come from childhood trauma and recovery work for years of my life. I think of myself as a child advocate especially victims of abuse and SA. And here i thought i hated my adolescence. Im starting to appreciate what i had more, a normal childhood. Where all the kids dressed like kids & i didn't have to worry about instagram/tiktock. I had fun with my scene hair and emo phase & OG youtube & vine. The videos of those little girls singing those lyrics broke my heart. My generation have really failed their children. Im so glad i waited till my thrirties to start having kids. The best part of waiting is that I've gotten to observe the mistakes my generation (the ones who had kids in their early twenties) made. My kids won't be ipad babies, and the media they consume/social media will be limited/supervised.
The lack of spaces for pre-teens/teens is definitely true. I'm 37 and I had my 16th birthday party at a nightclub specifically for teens 17 and under. it was everything and i wish kids these days could have something similar.
All of these things can lead to a very challenging life full of misery, regrets, pain as well as dysfunction. A very narrow dangerous road to go down.

I don't agree with the argument that there are no spaces or places to shop for kids. There are so many shops that have kids/teen sections, toy stores, amusement parks, gaming arcades, etc. But kids aren't interested in going to those places, playing with toys or outside, wearing clothes with cartoons, etc, and it's not due to the lack of spaces for them, but due to the unlimited unsupervised access to the Internet. This allows them to see music that's not suitable for them, social media content about fashion and cosmetics that's aimed at adults, and all kids wanna do is imitate older people, because they think that is what makes them more popular... It all comes down to the parents, why are they allowing their kids to consume that content? Why are they giving their child a double bed? Why are they allowing their tweens long fake nails? Allowing underage cosmetic procedures? Allowing their teens to date people 10 years older? It's the parents lack of setting boundaries and keeping their kids in age appropriate behavior and atire that's the biggest issue.....
Besides that, there has always been a fixation of parents to brag about their child acting older, or being more ahead of what is normal for their age. From the moment they are born, parents report on and show off their kids skills, from telling everyone that they are "already" talking or walking or reading etc, cuz of a deep rooted societal belief that that makes our kids special and better than other kids. So it's no wonder, if parents praise kids for acting older, and the Internet urges kids to act older, no wonder this is the outcome....
Yeah you’re right a lot of parents are letting their kids do certain things that they can wait to do. Because it’s not the kids money, they can’t even work so who’s providing it? The parents. I see a lot of kids with older siblings act more like kids than the ones without them. I think it has to do with older siblings telling them something if their parents don’t
One concern I have is that every affordable place is usually something like Walmart where people shop for their kids. They just send trendy stuff for children. So there are going to be kids in tight stretchy clothes, crop tops, and mini skirts since they're back in fashion. All towns don't have affordable boutiques unfortunately. I really wish they did.
Everyone can't wear second hand clothes from thrift stores. Especially since there are vultures that get all the good stuff from thrift stores to resell at normal or higher than retail prices.
I'm not sure what needs to be done to solve this problem. It might be that community folks have to actually go back to helping people sew their own clothes. But that's more time consuming that what most modern people can bargain into their day or weeks. :/

Exactly. There are many kid stores still like Build a bear, Justice etc. I blame it on the parents. These parents are allowing their children to wear whatever they want and do whatever they want. These kids aren’t buying their own clothes. I taught elementary and kids are wearing crop tops and waist chains and the parents are normalizing it. These kids don’t have money to buy these things. They even have Fashion Nova for kids?! Like what?

Build a bear isn't really a clothing store. But I'm definitely glad to hear Justice still exists. Children's Place still exists, at least online thst I've seen. I wonder if kids are just scared to dress like kids bc they're going to get severely bullied for it if they do.
Yeah it sucks for the internet generation!! They don’t have anything. I am an 80s baby, 90s kid. We had after school activities, extracurriculars, many different school clubs. On the weekends we had the skating rink, we hung out at the mall, we hung out at the beach club, we had regular parks and skate parks, plus summer camp and things like girl/Boy Scouts etc.. unfortunately, a lot of these activities are no longer available for the current generation. Especially after C19 swept the country. It’s really sad!! The parents are going to have to step up and be more involved with their children and find activities for them to do instead of always shoving a screen in their face 💯💯🗣️🗣️
@@GemGem12 my Dad worked 2 jobs almost my entire childhood and he still spent time with me. And he raised me by himself. We lived in Florida and our family lives in Indiana and Mississippi. We were basically on our own!! People find time for their friends and girl/boyfriends. They should keep the same energy when it comes to their children!!! Trust me, if they really want to spend time with their children, they’ll find a way 🗣️🗣️💯💯

😩😩 I see a lot of gen x and millennials talking about their free range childhood but then there’s news of parents getting arrested for letting their kids PLAY by themselves.
First of all, you did an amazing job on this. I’m an 18 yr old college sophomore and still have pimples, my clothes compose of jeans and shirts I’ve had since high school. As for everything said, I think we need to advocate more for said spaces for kids and teens to exist and have that awkward fun time, I hope to work on that in my community, but we also need to advocate for natural beauty it seems a handful of us don’t like the rise of advertising for body enhancement and we need to be louder. Not just for the young kids coming up behind us but for ourselves too. We cannot let the beauty “standard” win.

my baby sister is 10 and i talk to her about this stuff all the time. literally last week i was showing her House of Anubis and i was explaining like they don’t really have stuff for kids ur age to watch anymore and she was like “omg i know right??” so we’ve been watching shows i liked when i was younger and ill supervise her if she wants to watch TVD or twilight and we’ll skip over some stuff if it’s not appropriate for her. she still liked the little Laneige sleep masks and she likes to wear mascara to school and eyeliner but she’s literally just experimenting she’s not trying to do a full face and walk around like she’s my age. i think for older siblings to watch over their siblings and even have certain conversations with them can make such a big difference. we got rid of her tiktok bc it was giving her insecurities and she used to try to contour her mouth before school to change the way the shape was which was so sad bc she was 9 at the time. what im trying to say is older sibblings can make a difference to the gen alpha kids. i introduce my sister to the age appropriate things i was doing as a kid and she’s super into it and she even comes to me for fashion advice now instead of looking online. we’re teaching her to be confident and be ok with being a kid and liking “childish” stuff bec she IS A KID and not to let her friends make fun of her for still acting her age.
Yo that is REAL. I'm 34 and finally got my eyebrows professionally shaped and microbladed and immediately, it's like I really am in my 30's now. Lol. before I would get confused as being in my 20's with my natural bushy brows. My 14 year old nieces look my age now and I really feel it's the threaded eyebrows and them getting their lips done already that is seriously aging them. They're not my kid so I don't have the power to stop this but...dang, they legit look closer to my age and it's really sad..

I'm autistic & and 15. i never cared for growing up too quickly, unlike my past friends who not surprisingly left me! I only have two friends now which i'm thankful for but i've wished i can have more nerodivergent friends that understand my issues more so i don't feel like hiding away anymore.
Living here is already hard enough Being pressed to grow up quicker makes me sad it just reminds me that i am different from my peers.
