- Nailing 1000 nails into Wood Simultaneously with 150 TON Hydraulic Press! That's the task that we are going today do with our 150 ton hydraulic press and 240 ton force sensor. We have made drilled starting holes for the nails to sit in with our CNC-milling machine to make everything as easy as possible.

I forgot to mention on video but the total amount of nails was 1089!
33 x 33
Dame my court was off by 2 I got 35x33

I wondered how 1000 could give such a nice square (as 1000 isn't a perfect square). I thought you would do 1024 (32^2) but 1089 works just as well
You can paint nail heads to make pin art and sell it. Like painting made with dots.
Nailed it!

would love to see you resurrect the Smashinator 5000000 and try this with that, world record for the fastest 1089 nails to be inserted.
Great idea! Definitely need more smashinator content.
Something tells me that the Smashinator would not produce a clean outcome. Just a gut level hunch.
@@livenhfree I like your hypothesis, let's proceed with the experiment.

I always look forward to Sunday morning to watch Finnish people do loose science, I've learned so much about how materials act under extreme conditions
Gg
this is just how they make cube steak in Finland.
It is a great way to inform your intuitions about materials behavior.
Between this and watching a trio of Aussie dudes drop stuff from a tall slanted tower aka How Ridiculous. I've had the same experience.
I would love to see the result if you sprayed the top surface with salt water and applied 100k volts to nails at opposite corners. Usually people do this with only 2 nails to burn arcs, but I bet your 1,000 nails would create something we've never seen before.
It’s crazy to me that y’all have been at it for this long and still consistently make videos that I’m interested. The well of content from a hydraulic press seems to be bottomless, or maybe your creativity is
The press made short work of turning the plywood and nails into an art piece. Thanks for the effort! I loved the build-up with smaller experiments before this 'big one'.
Woodworker Anni nailed her assigned task. 👍
I love how you both showed us how to make a homemade bed of nails and gave us a super satisfying hydraulic press video.
All of these different runs over the past two weeks would make an amazing series of wall art!
Every once in a while I get an inkling of what it means to get content from a few people regularly. Thanks so much for giving us cool stuff to watch!

@@avalonjustin Are you using 2 hands now?
Make a similar piece of wood with the nails sticking through, then flip it around and you have a bed of nails. Then try pressing various objects onto the nails for horrifying effects.
from satisfying content to sadistic content
Yes! I was waiting for this! Thank you from Canada
1000 nails! Truly one of the great accomplishments in human history! Congratulations!
I just thought, It could be super nice to attach a stethoscope or directional microphone directly to the material sometimes. You know, listening to all that ASMR goodness happening inside when metal deforms or these nails make their way through. really getting in on the cracking and bending details! :-) I expect some very wierd alien like sounds
Very cool! I’m astonished that a 1” steel plate bent doing that!! 😮
That was a lot of force!
that plate was bent because of those tiny weld's holding plate in place
That was beautiful and I can't believe that the steel plate actually bent! I am sad about the lack of Extra Content but I guess Anni worked pretty hard for this video already so I will let it slide. This week. :D Love you guys.
This is the greatest channel. How come it took six years for CZcams to recommend it to me? Google, you know NOTHING.
"Is it already in?" It's a good thing Lauri asked that question and not Anni
Love your channel. You guys are super wholesome. Much love
1000 holes. I remember when I designed some circuit boards for a grad school project. I had 3000+ through holes and vias. The PCB maker had to drill each of those through the fiberglass board using a tiny CNC drill. I wonder how long that took?
I imagine it shouldn't take longer than 2 seconds to drill one and move to the next location, probably even below 1 is possible
We found it.
Nothing will ever be more satisfying than this.
Everyone can stop looking, this is it.
Wow the amount of effort you guys put is astounding.
would make a cool artwork if the nails were arranged in a specific shape!
Very interesting. Following simple logic, the bigger nails should have been better because we would say (before watching this vid) that the friction against the wood is a function of the total area of the nails surface while the resistance is a function of the total area of the cross section through the diameter of the nail. But its more complicated tan that as usually is.
It seems to me the explanation is that the bigger nails are also longer which makes them more prone to bending in combination with the fact that as the diameter of the nail increase, the wood around the nail is more compressed and under more pressure, causing more friction, so that the longer more resistant nails failed where smaller nails survived.
Looks to me like the bigger nails required so much force that the plywood failed
I just found this channel yesterday. I am so glad that I did because I’m addicted. Haha!
Cheers for the content. 👍
I love this channel, you never fail to entertain! Keep it coming all your fans will be waiting!
We need to know if the end result material is stronger or weaker than the same wood glued together. Does it snap more easily?
Such a very nice scientific video ! I've really enjoyed it 😄👍 ! Thanks for that Lauri and Anni 👍
Kisses from France ❤❤ !
Thanks to Anni for the nail work. So cool both of you. Thanks.
Learned from the mistakes and nailed it this week
"Is it already in?" - thats what she said.😂😂
You could increase the density of the nail by staggering the rows, to get an equilateral triangle spacing. I'm sure the CNC can manage this...
Could do a nice hexagon of nails that way.
I dont think that makes any difference, it will result in the same pattern, just turned 45 degrees.
As far as I know the only way to evenly space a cluster of dots is using a mathematical pattern that you can see in for example a sunflower head (the way the seeds are arranged), which is some type of spiral
@@KebunH A triangle is not a rotated square!
@@paulwomack5866 maybe im wrong, i was just considering staggered rows but that alone doesnt really do the trick because then you would end up with the same square grid, just rotated 45 degrees, i didnt consider the part where you said equilateral which indeed changes things
This was super satisfying to watch (even more so than your other videos!)
1,000 nails is awesome. And it even looks awesome as a finished work. Wow that was great. 😎👍
I have remodeled houses where I'm sure over achieving carpenters used this technique to secure the sub-floor.
It might be interesting to see using the wedge tool to try and pry apart the layers of plywood after it's been nailed together.
I want to see Harry Potter pry apart the layers of plywood.
Soooooooo satisfying.. thank you this was the video I didn’t know I needed in my life
This was the MOST satisfying press video. It's my favourite.
“Is it already in?”
Literally everyone: 😏
Interesting how much the steel plate flexed even though it was very thick.
not so thick. 15mm i think. and those weld's bent that plate
Steel is quite easy to bend
Brilliant, just Brilliant, great work both.
Thanks for sharing.
Awesome as usual! Thanks for the great work and fun!
Can you press grapes? Or did you already do it? I would love to see some HPC wine...
absolutely love the accent

When the HPC "Deals with it..." it really DEALS with it. 😁
i don't know why but this is supremely satisfying to watch!
"Its not too bad, you can listen to audiobooks while you do this"
I though there was an audinle ad coming.
I can see why we didn't get any extra content, she was tired from all those nails.
I'd like to know how bullet proof these compressed and reinforced nailed plywood chunks are.
It wouldn't be bulletproof at all. The wood will still splinter regardless.
I don't understand... why is this so f***ing cool and satisfying.... I've watched it 3x already!
You did an interesting project and a lot of energy and physical work was done
Good luck
You should Sell this as art :D
Not the most dramatic of HPC videos, but still satisfying to watch regardless :)
I try not to click. I tell myself I'm too busy.
But here I am. Every time.
Very satisfying, thank you. I want to see the press crush that stack of plywood and nails now

Thank you for all that time and effort you put into your videos, it was interesting and kinda funny.
You should try it with the smashinator.

This reminded me of military training. Thousands line up, some bend a little along the way, but in the end they all get nailed. Welcome to the machine.
WOW! Kudos to you, my friend, for painstakingly placing 1,000 nails. That's akin to something my autistic self would have done when I was a younger boy.
Love how you seen someone’s comment and actually did the video🖤
That was strangely very satisfying to watch.
I would like to see a table made out of that grid nailed plywood. Really cool new composite material :)
Courious to see the temperature of the wood as the nails were pressed in. Cool video.
Thanks for doing it all for us to see!
Coated, brass, and in the white- you could do the worlds most convoluted pixel art.
Love this stuff: totally silly, serves no purpose, but... just meaningless fun!
You guys are so good! You're pretty solid set!
Wow no bends all went down straight. Good job 👍
Smooth! Cut through that wood like butter! 😂👍
Using the band saw to cut it multiple times you could actually make many D&D stat boards with this if you place the mails correctly and use magnetic ball bearings for where your stat points are at. Each time you can cut the entire block into a board you get more value out of each nail.
That kick at the end was hilarious lol
You could make a whole series of videos pertaining to pushing objects into boards. Next you should try screws to compare the difference in resistance lol, awesome video thanks for the hard work.
Most satisfying thing I've ever seen!
That was priti gud! It would be a pretty good decor item too! 🖼
I am amazed at how much the steel plate flexed at the outer edges under this force.
The result looks so satisfying.
Always interesting. I do miss Anni's Finland Fridays. They were fun
Great job Anni!
Nice nails Anni. They looks great!
4:46 “Ooo-woo” said simultaneously 😆
Lauri: ”Is it already in?
Anni: Yea…
This was very satisfying to watch
Nailed it a 1000 times!
Don't know why this is so ridiculously satisfying. But it is.
I think the nails in the wood then cut like you did with the 100ct would make for some neat art projects. Maybe do a CNC hole drill of a face or design or something then try it like that and lacquer up the wood when done too?
Birch is actually a soft wood, it is a diffuse porous hardwood and produces vessels all year round, so it is very soft and spongey
At 4:49 I was cheering aloud, yet I'm watching this alone at home.
