  • Nailing 1000 nails into Wood Simultaneously with 150 TON Hydraulic Press! That's the task that we are going today do with our 150 ton hydraulic press and 240 ton force sensor. We have made drilled starting holes for the nails to sit in with our CNC-milling machine to make everything as easy as possible.

    would make a cool artwork if the nails were arranged in a specific shape!

  • @AlBarathur
    @AlBarathur Před 2 lety +11

    Very interesting. Following simple logic, the bigger nails should have been better because we would say (before watching this vid) that the friction against the wood is a function of the total area of the nails surface while the resistance is a function of the total area of the cross section through the diameter of the nail. But its more complicated tan that as usually is.
    It seems to me the explanation is that the bigger nails are also longer which makes them more prone to bending in combination with the fact that as the diameter of the nail increase, the wood around the nail is more compressed and under more pressure, causing more friction, so that the longer more resistant nails failed where smaller nails survived.

    • @chriss1331
      @chriss1331 Před 2 lety

    I think the nails in the wood then cut like you did with the 100ct would make for some neat art projects. Maybe do a CNC hole drill of a face or design or something then try it like that and lacquer up the wood when done too?

    Birch is actually a soft wood, it is a diffuse porous hardwood and produces vessels all year round, so it is very soft and spongey

    At 4:49 I was cheering aloud, yet I'm watching this alone at home.
