- In this video we are going to use our 300 ton ProfiPress Hydraulic Press and my home made Coffee Maker 10 000 000! It has special high pressure piston and cylinder that allow us to extrude 500 times more pressure than typical coffee maker can into regular espresso handle! This time we had specially CNC-machined super high pressure espresso coffee holder to prevent problems on the last part.
Don't try this at your kitchen! Exploding espresso handles might throw parts and hot water around
You can now buy your own hydraulic press through us! Press inquiries hpc@profipress.info
Here is the link where you can check out standard Profi Press models rhtc-workshoppress.com/ and if you need special custom made machine just send email and Profi Press engineers will design machine that suits your needs.

I am really proud of our performance this week! This worked way better than I ever could dream :D And if you want part 3 where I invite coffee Lauri to analyze our 1000 bar coffee let me know!
You should be, nothing broke on the last attempt, nothing went wrong so it'd call it a huge success
Please open up a coffee bar in Helsinki next to the harbor market hall and call it "1000 bar bar" and I WILL move to Finland
Probably the best and most expensive coffee machine in the World!! Guinness World Record maybe?😂
You should try cutting different objects with liquid that you squeeze with your press

Only 2 people have had 1000 bar coffee!
And to get to 1000 bar naturally the Mariana trench is where you'd have to go, the Atlantic ocean isn't deep enough, only gets you to a little over 800 bar.

Introduce them to scales and pressure profiling!
6:38 I think I know a way you could pack the coffee really tightly in the puck. With a press of some sort, maybe a hydraulic press :)
With how bitter it gets if you just press it too hard by hand, that is going to give you some nasty butter crema from hell!
As someone that fixes that Delonghi espresso machine for a living, it warmed my heart to see it crushed. Its an annoying machine to fix. Love the video, really interesting to see.
is it really fixing when the machine is designed to break ? or is it just theatrics ?
@@myname-mz3lo it's not designed to break, it's just low quality. So it breaks easier, when it's not used optimally.
@@paro2210 I get that. But the place where the portafilter attaches has those plastic things that are unnecessary and are not sold by de'longhi and break really fast. I had some bad experiences that were mostly avoidable with no extra cost to the manufacturer.

James Hoffman needs to try this coffee
Can you imagine him complete deadpan reviewing this "coffee maker" xD
True
Then the wince at the end when he tastes it😂
I remember when I made espresso for the first time; I worked in the kitchen at a place that had a coffee bar, after a demo from our coffee supplier, i gave it a try. The rep really looked like he was going to town pressing the grounds, so i did the same. Turns out there was a big difference in hand strength. It took about ten minutes for the shot to press out, it had an oddly carrot like taste to it.
I love the AvE-Sticker on the press.
Why does AvE deny extra homosexual special rights ?
He's no illegal mexican !

I'd like to take this time to say THANK YOU very much for making these videos. We really enjoy watching them. You guys are awesome! 🙂
Thanks for watching these. We really enjoy making this and it wouldn't be possible without all you watching :)
Your channel is always fun to watch. People with actual espresso machines go to great lengths to reduce the pressure a little because espresso is best at about 7-9 bars and many espresso machines are closer to 10-12 bars and over extract the coffee making it bitter!
This is like using a sledgehammer - or a hydraulic press - to crack a walnut.
I think having so much bolts on the coffee maker was also slight overkill but hey it looks cool :D
@@HydraulicPressChannel have ever made 300ton nut cracker?
@@HydraulicPressChannel If you're no longer going to use this coffee maker, it would be interesting to see how it fails when you use similar pressure and remove one or two bolts between each press action.

As a coffee person this both horrifies and amuses me. Nicely done, you've essentially created a "manual espresso machine" driven by a hydraulic press!
Aeropress
@@No-mq5lwHydraulic Aeropress Channel
@@No-mq5lw An aeropress is a combination invention inspired by french presses and manual espresso makers. It's similar but not quite the same, nor is it considered "true" espresso by modern standards, since it's using low pressure and brewing's done by infusion if going by the recommended usage.

Let's pressurise that milk

these engineering type videos are great
Yeah just crushing something has already been seen so many times, I hope we get more of this kind of stuff, this is awesome! Engineer as many -stupid- big brain things to do with the press as possible 😂
I think ultra high pressure brewed coffee is an amazing research area, on par with high-pressure superconductors. This is some truly great, "ground"-breaking work!
One of the best videos on this channel, surprisingly because it didn't end in an explosion. This was a great achievement!
Do a James Hoffman colab
I was thinking that you could use EDM (Electric Discharge Machining) to make an array of tiny, high aspect holes instead of just one hole drilled manually, but I forgot that you tend to do more old school machining.
I think an EDM system is a good future investment. You could make a new spaghetti maker 9,000,000 with it! Even if only for making small holes in things it would be very useful and remove the risk of snapping tiny drill bits. The channel Applied Science has a video where the guy built his own system.
Could also do it with a laser. TKS panels for light aircraft are titanium with 800 holes per square inch laser drilled.
With Wire EDM don't you need an initial pilot hole for the wire? I don't think they'd be able to get much smaller than this in that case. Unless you have something else in mind.
@@inthefade to my knowledge, there is a kind of EDM wire which is hollow and has high pressure water flowing out through the hole to move material out of the way. This can be used to drill holes without a pilot.
Electric Discharge Machining will probably work better than the other EDM, Electronic Dance Music.
I think Marko Repairs needs to be invited for a cup
Now in Switzerland, Nespresso are schweating in their lederhosens!
EDM hole popper may be needed soon
That would been great machine for this project
The simplicity and originality of this channel makes it such a fab guilty pleasure... kiitos! Keep crushing.

Can you tenderize a steak? Mythbusters did it with a cannon and explosives
Nate (from the Internet) is also big on various ways to tenderize steak, and is a fan of hardened steel
Why didn't Mythbusters defend extra homosexual special rights ?
None of them are illegal mexicans !
Every restaurant should have installed 300 Ton Hydraulic Press!
This guy uses words I understand on every level.
Fun video, but for espresso a big reason for high pressure is to get the water temp over normal boiling to extract the coffee soluble solids faster. Quickly, pushing just normal temp (near boiling) water through at higher pressure is likely just going to get higher gas extraction (the CO2 froth), but with low flavor/caffeine. For good tasting coffee at these temps, try treating it more like a french press or aeropress, and let the water mix with the grounds for a 1-4 minutes (needs experiments) before pressing.
I would also try to skip the papers because they filter out the fats and texture that is normal in an espresso.
Not really tho, the pump is there to increase the pressure without having to increase the temperature, so that you can push the water through a finer grind and extract more with less water, otherwise you’d just need to put a 9bar valve on a moka pot.
If something's worth doing its worth overdoing
MAN working in the plastic injection industry and working on a 3000 ton machine, seeing what 300tons can crush is amazing to me as we put up to 3000tons of pressure between two pieces of steel!
