Hey Barry & Mrs B just thought I'd let you know that I think you're supposed to use proper construction paper folded to open the can of coke not paper towel as it is stronger. Give it a retry

I thought that when you couldn’t be bothered to peel potatoes for mash potatoes, you’d boil Pringles and mash them? That’s another well known potato mash hack!

@@jollymastermind1237 they aren't just rubbing it on there, the are using the firm corner of the folded paper to push the can open.
It does work if rub hard enough the original video was a marker pen.
It works because of metal fatigue rubbing the line weakening the seal.
The sheet of paper is a printing paper and it's the corner Wich is used firmly to open the can !
Mrs Barry losing it when asked to insert a tube into a melon is one of the most delightfully funny things I've seen for a long time, Barry. And what a dirty laugh she has, too.
I lost it when she lost it and I'm still not sure why it was so funny but it was :')

For the can hack it looked like they were using regular paper not paper towel. Which when folded would be pretty hard. Happy Valentine's Day Barry and Becky! 💕
No! BAD! Don't make excuses for 5-minute fakes. Ann Rierdon has videos showing that the company literally has internal policies that the video result is all that matters. They come up with a "hack" idea, and send it to the producers, whose job is to produce a video of the hack working, no matter what it takes to get the take. 90% of the time, that means fake it.
@@fyrhtu81 I'm not making excuses but to even give the hack a chance it should be done right.
i will say that i just tried it myself using ordinary printer paper and i can tell you that it does not work. not even a little bit. there is no way you could fold it to be hard enough to puncture a pressurized aluminium can

My great grandad many years back told me you need to leave the mud on the potatoes as they keep for much longer. I tested this and yes its true they keep for a very much longer time.
Keeping the mud on them and in the dark stops them turning green or sprouting, they will last for months.

I peel the broccoli stalk like a carrot and cook it with the rest. It is tasty when roasted with olive oil, minced garlic and salt too

You could also probably bake the potato skins on the rack after squishing the potato through for a crispy snack. Another hilarious video btw
Just mash with skins on.
Always remember to use the stalk when cooking broccoli. It's just as good as the florets, if not even better.

For the coke can hack you would need to use something like Arts and Craft paper because it is thicker (or normal paper with more folds). Then basically just rub it against the mouth of the can so that it creates friction which then expands the can at the small portion and then goes pop. Will probably work best with a cold can (shouldn't have any water on it) or something at room temp and then vigorously rub the folded paper..
It's simply breaking the thin seal on the lip, nothing about friction. You put enough pressure there it'll break open with anything hard enough
@@SGvagon aha, exactly, it's a hard corner.. Can do the same easier with the handle tip of a spoon.. Just gently press it n you're in faster than rubbing a piece of paper.. Butter knife too, ANYTHING works if it's hard enough

@@The-OG try it, that's why the pop top ring is there, it's a VERY thin seal of metal. You push and rub, you don't just gently rub aha that's gonna do bugger all, you rub because you're less likely to send your fingers into sharp sheer metal that way, honestly get a ring pop can and try it with:
1. A spoon handle
2. A folded peirce of paper pushed into it
3. A screwdriver for all or matters aha the friction won't do anything to it, hence why you shake a can/drop it n it won't break open

I heard of the first one and got confused... I never peel for mash anyway, cut them into small cubes, boil them and mash them, usually with very thinly sliced spring onion, parsley or roasted garlic... the skin is the best part of a potato

The hacks for the potato and the brocolli were interesting. I'll definitely need to give those try. Also: You can totally cook and eat the brocolli stem. I like using them in brocolli and stilton soup.
You can also eat the potato skin. It's delicious when you leave it on when you make mash.

I saw another hack where you can score the potato in the middle then cook it and when you take it out if the water you can just pull away the skin without having to wait for it to cool like they had to with the rack hack.

13:35 The individual ends of broccoli are called the buds.
A group of buds and their connected stems or trunks are called a floret.
All the florets make up the head or crown.
The bit with leaves is called the stalk, both of which are also edible.
There's also the roots, but those are _not_ listed anywhere as edible.

I used the potato peeling hack today. Only instead of a drying rack I used the Berry Lewis veggie prep chopper. Only I pushed the baked potato down with my hand. Worked a charm. Love it Berry. Thank you!

Nan is sensible, she knows they're grown in soil and will have flavour, the clean ones are usually grown in sand using hydroponics to save on washing costs.
