If anyone has any other suggestions for the can opening with a piece of paper please let us know! Perhaps we could try card? We are determined to make it work.... also our house smelt of burnt coconut hair for days after this so don't try it unless you really have to and can open many windows! You can check all the other kitchen hack attempts to date on this playlist czcams.com/video/jdKv_PUEL90/video.html please keep the hack ideas you've found coming, some of them are genuinely amazing!
Cool
We are all so glad that you test these hacks so we don’t need to and for those that we can use thank you and for those that don’t we can just ignore.
Thank you Mr and Mrs B for your consumer advice
I'd say press down hard on where the can is meant to pop open with the ring pull, sod the rubbing, it needs the pre-weakened seam breaking with pressure... :P
Is the can cold? No idea what I'm talking about but if the paper rubbing is supposed to work by creating a heat difference then maybe the can has to be fully chilled first?
you didnt fold the paper enough times, and you need to press down hard over the "opening"
you can just imagine Mrs B waking up in the middle of the night to the noise of Barry still trying to open a can with paper.
🤣🤣🤣
Firefighters: do you know how the kitchen fire started?
Barry: 🤷🏻♂️
lol!
It had something to do with a coconut in a toaster
"It's actually on fire!" is Mrs.B's catchphrase at this point.
We need this on a shirt!
Barry sliding into frame: "We only need one potato" 😂 I laughed so hard
That potato bit is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Clearly authentic, you're both laughing, and a perfect punchline. I rewound it like five times. And Mrs. B catches them like a pro! So good.
I love how Mrs. B got the jump scare on Barry for once, lol
Have you ever been in a situation where you need to chop a banana, but you don't own a knife, but you do own a fork and a pair of metal pliers? No, me neither 😂
I just need a compilation of Ms. B's face journeys during kitchen hack videos. This one had some all-time greats.
We need a Tshirt with "its actually on fire!!!" on it lmao
1: Fold the paper four times
2: Wrap the paper around an old-fashioned, lever style can opener
3: Press the rounded end of the can opener (not the pointy side) against the can lid and open the can
4: Enjoy the Coke
Just the blunt end of a church key should work fine. No need for the paper!
@@popefacto5945 true but they want to do it with paper
Allowing your husband to set coconuts on fire in the house = True love
The victory lift when she finally succeeded with the coconut 🥥 💃🏼😍
I'm sure the emergency services are on Mrs B's speed-dial and on stand-by for each of these 'Barry tries' videos 😂 Thank goodness emergency services are free at the point of use...
The potato scene, however, is a visual representation of how I feel at the till doing my grocery shop at Aldi 😂
My grandma used to bake the whole coconut in the oven at 400 degrees F for a few minutes to get it open. She made awesome coconut cakes she used the milk inside in the cake. Also I absolutely love you and Mrs B. Thank you for being so entertaining. ❤️
The polenta one I think could be used for.lots of other things as well! Rice for example! (That would avoid you having to burn the plastic the other hack required 😬)
Whenever I buy something that's loose in a bag, like gelatin, rice, et cetera, I just use a funnel like how Barry did with the bottle, and pour it into a container. Bags might nick on something and rip, not a great storing solution.
If you have funnels in your kitchen (imho a must), this "hack" is even easier because it doesn't require cutting a bottle. 🤷🏻♀️
My favorite cheese hack is to use a vegetable peeler to get long large slices for easier melting.
Cheese slicer. Best thing ever.
I do this for hard butter 👍
“Want to cut a banana slightly more quickly with less structural integrity? First, ruin a fork.”
Mrs. B's catching skills are amazing.
MrsB has the patience of a saint. No to encourage bad Barry behavior, if you have that many potatoe's to peel break out a mechanical apple peeler or for you Barry 1 cordless drill + small wood drill bit place drill bit in drill according to instructions, skewer potato on broad end of drill bit turn on drill and hold potatoe peeler at proper angle on potatoe and move as needed to remove skin.
Fold the paper until YOU CAN"T FOLD IT ANY MORE, then with a lever-like action from the middle of the can (to prevent cutting yourselves), press a corner end down on the pre-cut round drink hole. Works every time.
The coconut one toss a cracked coconut in the freezer. It comes out much easier
amazing
There's no fire if you do it that way so it's less fun 😂
Yes, that's how I do it.🙃
My gosh mrs. B is good at catching those potatoes! 🤣
Also the coconut hack... you can pretty easily open a coconut by first puncturing one of the holes with a screwdriver, drain the coconut water, then use a hammer to beat round the shell until it cracks enough for you to pull it apart, and finally use a spoon to get the coconut meat out.
That's nothing new though that's what most people do
Mrs. B is wonderful. Her skeptical glances ( see 2:51 ) give me life. You did good when you found that lady, Barry.
Please try Egg slicer -> banana
Love you guys!
Yes, scrolling down to see if that had been suggested
I've snapped a few can pulls I always use a spoon and rub it on the edge to open mine hack you can always open tin can with a spoon if you don't have a tin opener
Thanks good info
I absolutely love the way Mrs B laughs
Makes me happy
We are all so glad that you test these hacks so we don’t need to and for those that we can use thank you and for those that don’t work we can just ignore.
Thank you Mr and Mrs B for your consumer advice
The can thing absolutely does work. You gotta push down harder, apply more pressure.
Becky's face when you finished the banana hack... LOL
OMG YES BECKY!!! That sound is like the dentist!! He was killing me too!
here's a hack i use all the time is if you don't have a clean knife and need to spread something on bread use the back of the tea or tablespoon.
Or you could just wash a bloody knife🤷😔
@@lolaxxx3669 wow mean much. what if all your knives are in the dish washer if you have one?
The coke is easy, you place the folded paper on top then you hit it with a hammer, works every time
I love watching you guys together! The way you interact is fun to watch!
Me and my daughter were in absolute stitches at you guys! As always enjoyable viewing 😂
Can we just appreciate how awesome Barry is. He's grown so much since the first video in 2010.
I too saw him throwing potatoes at his wife 😁
this might seem like a dumb point but when it comes to slicing the banana why not just use a knife interesting coconut hack though 😃 looking forward to next episode
But what if you don't have a knife, and only a fork, plyers, and the time to twist a fork just to thinly slice a banana? 😅
Well it's to save time ...if it worked that is. Still would not work with a ripe banana.
Love the music. That’s an ornament now! Hard hats for cats. And not giving up on the soda can 😂
Poor Mrs. B needs a drink after these when it’s your turn to pick the hacks! Hehe truly true love! ❤️❤️hugs from Texas! 🇨🇱
Excuse me that is not the Texas flag that is the Chilean flag 🇨🇱
Please learn your flags before you use them on the web.
With the bag in the bottle neck hack, you could use an elastic band to help hold the plastic bag in place - a thick one like the ones that hold together broccoli stalks at the grocery store - that would make pouring easier and more secure! Might try that myself.
Genius
@@mrbarrylewis Update, I tried it and the rubber band worked a charm. It also helps the bag make a more open spout hole, so I put that band under the kind of flare in the bottle where the cap sits. Held it in place perfectly, no spills! Keep up the good work.
Mrs Barry getting bombarded with potatoes made my day. :D
With the can opening do what u were doing but hold the paper nearer to the folded edge...you are keeping your fingers well out the way but you need them closer to the edge you are using to open it.
This works...i have done it myself 👍
You are a hilarious pair, love watching your hack testing videos!
💕
Thinking of a hack, can't recall if you've already done it cos I learned it off youtube, if you are missing a tin opener, and have a tin with no ring-pull top, rub it on a flat stone surface (E.G. paving slab, brick, recently poured and cured concrete for a studio kitchen, etc.) to grind the top ridge of the rolled seam down, and then with a few gentle squeezes of the sides, the top will pop off, can also be done with sandpaper and metal files... :D
Sounds like a plan!
I remember CrazyRussianHacker doing this hack! I wonder if you saw from the same place.
(A great survival hack)
We just have a large rock outside our home where we break open the coconut. There is also a coconut opener with like a super hard substance in its center where you can hit the coconut and get it open. You get a hand held coconut grater and also a coconut "chipper", which is basically a steel rod with one end flattened to detach the coconut meat from the shell. These things are pretty readily available in India especially in the south where coconut is used in daily cooking.
Any suggestions on the handheld 🥥 shredder?
The damp cloth thing is the first thing I was ever taught in the kitchen :D!
Thank you for the hacks and entertainment :-)
Love this Barry
Mrs. B is a great catch!! That was an amazing scene 🥰
3:39 I feel like Mrs. B’s joke went under the radar, I thought it was great!
This was absolutely hilarious. I'd hate to break the news, but I watch for that more than improving my kitchen game.
Barry tries so hard to make these hacks work, but it ends up being twice as much work as the original way LOL
This is my FAVOURITE video of you two :D! I especially loved the tater tossing xD
I’m loving Mrs. B’s flowery top ! I realise this is not hack related but I had to say it !
The throwing of the potatoes at mrs B made me feel like I was at the checkout in Aldi
you need to fold the paper more so it's more a solid mass, doesn't need to be sharp you not trying to cut through the can top, you trying to put pressure onto it to break the seal, so the more folds in the paper the better. Use the thickest corner and rub along where the seal should break, put some pressure into it
You said Seal! bayaya .... great tips thanks
@@mrbarrylewis I think it may have more chance of working if you used sand paper.
At the time i was thinking in the original vid, cardboard was being used. Don't know if i commented or not but give it a shot if you'd like. I may try it if i can be a*sed🥴🥴
You 2 are so funny it's nice to learn about the hacks
Mrs. B trying to get the coconut out and it cutting to Barry rubbing the coke can was peak comedy.
Barry, your next kitchen gadget needs to be a fire extinguisher! For Mrs B's sake lol 🤣
Love the video!
I always love Mrs Barry look of baffled terror
Really cool video!
“Are you ready for hack 3? You’ll need a banana” “we don’t have any” 😂😂😂 so funny
Favourite part of this video was Mrs B getting potatoes continuously thrown to her 😂😂😂
Mrs. B is great.
I really like the corn holder one for carrots and potatoes. My 4 yr old loves peeling carrots but I'm always afraid he's gonna catch his fingers..that will keep them away from the peeler!
10/10 for the editing 👌
15:23 talking of old drinks, I still have a small bottle of cola in the shape of a football (unopened) manufactured as a promotional item for the 2006 FIFA Football World Cup in Germany and it’s still pretty fizzy when u shake it
Too much fun! One potato, Two potato! Bake the coconut in medium oven - no smell.
Those potato holders have always been available here in Germany, with longer handles and with three prongs Mainly used for peeling spuds boiled in their skin which are too hot to hold in the hand.
The coconut one. You just put the coconut, cut side down on a tray in the oven, about 180-200° for like 15 min. Then it comes away from the shell.
You guys are my fav couple on the internet :)
She was so funny doing the jump cut , bring the family on cam more do much fun
I try as much as I can to involve them when I have the garden kitchen setup there'll be more friends and family involved for sure
@@mrbarrylewis cool happy you replied glad to be part of the Barry Lewis family for all the fun and laughter
Fun fact: a screw driver also works to open up the can if the pulltab breaks off. Lol. Just wack down with the screw driver tip and it will open it up. Lol
Mrs. B's face at the 8:03 minute mark juxtaposed with Homer's face in the background cracks me up!
I love these videos
"I need to go away" immediately entering my vocab
this video is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
I’m jealous that you have Cherry Coke all the time. In Canada we’ll get a surprise in the stores and it’s there till it all been purchased. I love cherry coke. This was a great video. Your family is so nice, I love that they take part of your videos. I’ve learned a lot from you. Thank you.
We cook with coconut often in our home. We just poke out the eyes, drain the water and throw it in an oven on a baking sheet until it cracks. Remove from oven, wait till it cools and the meat pops right out of the shell.
Should try this hack with a balloon whisk if you don't have an electric whisk. Hold the handle between both palms and run them back and forth (motion like you're trying to to start a fire using sticks) I find it works so much easier and more quickly than beating normally.... especially if you're trying to whip cream
For peeling, I always peel away from me and I do 1 half at time. Peel half, rotating all the way around, then flip and peel the other side. I've never nicked my fingers.
I like the idea of the corn holder though. could make it faster :)
At that point just grab a cheap teaspoon and smack the handle into the opening of the can
hold it by the spoon end and your safe
as for the coconut one, thats just a bad idea
segment it with a knife or if your trying to show off hit it with a hammer
Very good
You two make a lovely couple although I think Mrs B needs a medal putting up with Barry lol.
That was so funny, with the potatoes! 😂😂 If you use an apple corer, the core comes out when you withdraw the corer, thus, rendering the corkscrew redundant . . . at least, my corer works that way, and I just assumed all corers did the same? Maybe they don't? TFS 👍💖
Barry try using a soup style can opener on your soda/beer can if your missing the tab. Bottle openers work well if you tap with a bit of force.
I've seen the can trick done with chopsticks, but folded paper is basically the same thing. With them though, they span it around the entire rim of the can, instead of going back and forth in one spot.
lol me and my ex girlfriend used to watch every video you uploaded as we had our teas together 8 months later I've finally started watching you again. I missed you videos so much haha!
If I don't see Stuart making a video with this cherry coke in 20 years I will be very upset with you Barry. Such a good one though.
Barry with the can use your thumb to press down onto the paper while rubbing the entrance of the can i think the paper is there so that you dont cut your thumb because you using the downward force of the thumb .... i did that a few times
When your going to the trouble of bending all of the tines on your fork you might as well just gaffa tape four thin knifes together. It might even work ☺️🤞
Omg the potatoes 😂😂😂
I think you completely misunderstood the can opening hack. The paper is folded to make it tough. Then the paper is used to just push the can open with force. The rubbing is simply a misunderstanding, because the paper doesn't really have any grip on the metal. So while pushing it with force it slides around a bit, which looks like rubbing I guess.
(At least that's how I understood it.)
The can thing also works with a wooden stick, but maybe it is card in the video. It needs to be strong and thick and it needs to be the corner and constantly rubbing where you drink from around the rim
With the can try use a straw ive seen people do that not sure if it actually works but give a go might with for others
I have Coconut cups virtually like that from a Malibu promo, they probably used a torch or similar to make those, the science is sound though as you're using heat to make everything expand and then rapidly cooling it in cold water making it contract with the flesh cooling and contracting more due to its water content.
You could feasibly do it with any heat source thats hot enough and heats the Coconut evenly so an electric hob could work, you just need a different type of ring as the one in the vid has a gap in the middle that act like a holder.
If you use a handle of a wooden spoon on the can and rub it hard and fast it will open this actually does work as I’ve done it in the past 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Barry- We need a banana.
Mrs. Barry- Looks around… we haven’t got any.
Poor Mrs B... she really does put up with a lot. Lol. 💛
