A lot of pros also probably did this because they didn’t want any of the guys they were competing against to possibly see what type of shape they were in prior to the contest.

The bigger I got the less I wore tank tops. Big guys don't seek that ignorant adoration. Skinny insecure kids do.
Even in my 50s, I am bigger and in better shape than most 20-year-olds in the gym, and I still don't run around in tank tops.
Totally relate I stay covered up in gyms. Helps with staying warm and injury prevention as well. I’m there to work not to look at myself in the mirror and flex and have people stare at me . I can do that at home.

Dennie James was the next Mr. Olympia everytime he released that pic in the mirror but on stage he didn’t size up. Same thing with Roelly.

Even in his early days he was so far ahead of his time even when he won the overall British championships and got his pro card 1988 I believe, his conditioning then was world class!!!!
Dorian looked in reality even more impressive than on pictures..the closer you were coming/standing to him the more impressive he appeared to get...

I have met Dorian in the flesh at a show at his peak. He is massive in the photos but in person his physique was mind boggling. I met a fee other IFBB pros and he was leagues above.
