There was an in-depth article about his rise through the late 70s upto 1982/3 like he’d already had a meteoric career whilst still in his 20s. I was 18 years old, totally naive and looking to ‘man myself up’. Tom Platz, BertIl Fox, Sergio Oliva, Serge Nubret, we’re huge inspirations. Bodybuilding and weight training was just getting into gear as a serious high octane activity just as the fitness boom exploded throughout the 1980s, Jane Fonda workouts etc… I never thought 4 decades later I’d be watching the now legendary Tom Platz influence the younger generation like this. He’s a very good man, of brilliant character. We are lucky to have one of the few men from that golden 70s era still with us. He’s a genuine old schooler, famous then as he is now, appeared on British TV talk shows in the 80s, that never happened with other bodybuilders unless they were making waves in Hollywood. He’s a living legend, let’s celebrate that 🙏🏽
It is hard to predict exactly how Tom Platz training David Goggins would have turned out, but it's likely that it would have been an intense and challenging experience for both of them. Tom Platz, who was known as "The Golden Eagle" for his impressive leg development and squatting ability, was known for his intense and demanding training style. David Goggins, who is a retired Navy SEAL, is also known for his intense training and his ability to push beyond his limits. If Tom Platz trained David Goggins, it's likely that the focus would have been on building strength and power in Goggins' legs, specifically targeting quadriceps and hamstrings, using exercises like squats and deadlifts. Goggins, who is known for his endurance, could have benefited from Platz's high-volume and high-intensity approach to training. Additionally, Tom Platz was also known for his focus on bodybuilding, so it's likely that Goggins would have also been exposed to different bodybuilding techniques such as progressive overload, drop sets, and supersets to increase muscle mass and definition. It's also likely that Tom Platz would have pushed Goggins to his limits, both physically and mentally, and Goggins would have had to dig deep to keep up with Platz's intense training style. But, if Goggins had been able to rise to the challenge, he could have come out of the experience with even more strength and power than he had before.

Wo hat er das denn gesagt? Hab es da nicht gehört
"The hardest things are usually the best, if it's easy, leave it to somebody else", Platz great man
Gotta love how reverent David is and how he’s taking Tom’s coaching to heart genuinely
I love Tom Platz motivation, enthusiasm and conviction.
That guy probably did not walk for 2 weeks
Yeah
If hes on gear he will be walking the next day no joke
He passed me the other day in a wheelchair
@@luciusdomitius9377 haha
@@mranonymous8725 it doesnt work like that
why is no one talking about how humble David is?
And can train like fuck. Tom was right about him training like Arnold. He doesn't complain and has the will
David paid Tom for the training session lol why he shouldn't be humble at this point
David is humble, which makes him a Giant.
Having Platz as a trainer is a cheat code ! His speeches are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐐🐐🐐
I discovered Tom Platz from another side. He's so brilliant speaker... There's steel and passion in every his word. That's amazing.
Man, Platz is like a movie character, with a suit and tie, and an OOOOUT standing vocabulary and captivating visualisation... while David is so humble, and respective through out his effort, and honest about his mindset. This video was such a delight people, thx
420th like yay.
30:45 "Nothing has changed since the 70's... NOTHING. Except people train, not as hard" :D This man is a legend.
That dudes whole vibe is like a high mafia boss the way he teaches the way he explains and the way he presents himself❤❤
The legend himself, David as well for giving it his all!
15:45 this is why we are here "baby reps give me baby reps"
40:19 Do not be a failure
This should be top comment. I've been searching for the original "clip" of where this came from. It was driving me crazy hearing it in every OE fitness video and not having a clue where came from. Thanks so much. 👍🏻💪🏻
OE Fitness 😂
Not bad for your first set
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tom pronounces every word with so much energy and care, like he is squating 500 with every word he says. Great voice and motivator. He could have been a great actor. a combination between Michael Douglas and He Man.
More like Martin Riggs going Super Saiyan level 3.
Was thinking the same...great voice
Reminds me of David Lee Roth
I get more of a Kurt Russell vibe
That's what i've notice in him, he talk with such a passion to his favorite exercise "SQUAT"
Nice to see Tom Platz sharing his expertise! In 1980 @ Worlds Gym, Venice Beach, Tom told me to use two 10 LB plates under my heels and with the bar on my back looking foward picking a spot up high on the wall and focus on the spot as you slowly control the UP/DOWN movement (you won't drop your head nor chin which everyone does)
"The hardest things are usually the best. If it's easy, leave it to somebody else." and "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." were the quotes that hit me hardest.
17:44 if platz says rest first he basically means enjoy your last few minutes before you rest in peace
"Don't be afraid to rest" aka "Don't fear death"
Platz is the coach you both love and dread to have. You know you'll get all the results but it's going to hurt like hell to get there...legendary
He the choice everyone needs, it’ll suck but once the process is over you will feel fuckin AMAZING
The adrenaline would be that high I doubt you’d feel the pain till after the session
Best Leg Workout Session i ever seen....My God....Tom Platz is the Motivation....❤...
David Hoffman ✌
This man has amazing knowledge about body building probly the best info on legs I have ever seen on the tube thankyou legend for your techniques and wisdom👌
Tom Platz is the type of guy to stand over your casket and cry because you had 5 more reps to finish
I guarantee Tom Platz is a real winner in this game of life.. Been that for a long time too. He just motivated me to tears coming down my eyes. Bless him man seriously.
It's inspiring sure but it's not that deep lil bro 😭
@@daevidpp445maybe not to you. Words resonate with those who feel them.

@@hollywoodbb it’s just a workout and leg workout advice, it’s not a martin luther king speech he crying and ur glazin
@@daevidpp445 y’all are just small-minded. He’s extrapolating the metaphors out to the rest of life. If you don’t get the significance behind it, there’s a good chance you’ve probably had it easy in life. Platz is dropping gems for the guys that have to grind everyday and want better.
This is only The movie that i can stand watching almost everyday
This video is LEGENDARY. I will be crawling out of the gym my next leg day. This gets my passion fire raging for bodybuilding again!
