For as long as I live, when I think of Citroen C6, I will think of your videos. Thank you for your service..
I've got to say, that's cracking customer service to replace a diagnostics unit that wasn't even broken. Fair play to TopDon 👍🏻
To be fair, the first unit they sent didn't work with this car (and it's what blew the fuse). The second (current) one (different model) would have worked perfectly from the off, but I didn't know the fuse was blown.
But yes, they're on the ball and keen to sort any issues.
Well, the first one was, but yes I see what you mean. They have very good customer service, so far!
The C6, the car that just keeps delivering.
The driving enjoyment of its wafting ability and a constant supply of CZcams content for the channel.
Well, at least the de-clag function works. Loving the whole 'what does this button do' energy in this video.
0:40 even as you said it, and before you said Kayleigh i had the tune in my head!
Marillion will now be my earworm for the evening lol
You can usually perform most of the oem functions excluding some times programming. The layout of the UI is usually much better on 3rd party scan tools than on lexia though. Definitely much better than the ford/mazda OEM system.
I bought the 45 quid Topdon Topscan bluetooth reader, bloody fantastic thing!! Forced DPF regen and all learning values reset on a Focus was the first test and it worked perfectly. All the live data and system active tests diagnoised ABS faults and even does Airbag diagnostics. Great bit of kit and good value, uses an app on your phone or Tablet so cheaper to buy for the DIYer.
I've got one of those to try, as I have some on-road tests to do and I think it will help.
@UPnDOWN for the cost its amazing. Tried it on a few cars so far and talks to them all...
I might have to have a look at for my moderns on the fleet for £45 that's not bad like!
Excellent Marillion quote !
This whole video is just so perfectly on-brand!
Could it jack itself up, as it knows the exhaust is going to get toasty?
I had the same thought.
Yep, it doesn't want to melt or set fire to the tarmac under the car. Obviously this isn't tarmac, but the car doesn't know that. Not as much of a problem as a petrol catalyst, but they can get pretty hot!
Either that or I hit the button by accident...
There's an elephant on the roof!!!👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧 change the battery great content.....
Got a semi with the red BX and xantia on the back... Grew up with those 2 as well...
You have to love a French car and I do but, they can have the occasional moment or two. That’s part of the joy of owning one.
Thought you were talking about Alexa, and wondered how the heck you got that interfaced to the car :) :)
Anyway, looks like I need to get that Topdon unit, thanks for demonstrating!
When you think about it, that is absolutely genius of the engineers to raise the car up when performing a forced regen! It's because the DPF is about to get VERY hot and potentially burn anything under it. Higher it is, less issues! Could you not cancel the forced regen!? Bonnet should also be open when performing forced regen....
I couldn't see a way to.
You need those little magnets that Mr HubNut had for keeping Betty Fairmont's headlining up!
They were pins, weren't they?
Quite a impressive bit if kit that Top Don, that i may have to invest in one, I have a couple if twenty quid fault code readers, can diagnose the fault but sometimes does not clear it!
I've got a Bluetooth one to test next, TopScan I think it's called. See how that fares.
Good to see TopDon working now fuse has been replaced, thanks for the video. Wonder if you’ll be bringing C6 to Rustival?!
Still aiming to bring Hilda. C6 is in reserve.
Maybe the rear suspension lifted to allow for the black smoke to clear more freely.
Possibly
Im sure mr O'Reilly would be able to tell you how to reset the dpf. Hes the dpf wizard.
I used to be on the peugeot owners forum and have the "planet system" got a lot of people out of jams about 10 yrs ago. I still have it and the old laptop. Maybe you can ask on there - plenty of knowledgeable chaps that will help you out, just a thought?
Plenty of knowledge on FCF and the C6owners forum to be fair, it's just that for some reason the C6 refuses to let me reset it!
Suspension lift on forced regen is to reduce fire hazard under car. Straw etc will burn 🔥
I cleaned my DPF and had to use the Repair function in my Lexia to tell it the DPF was changed (to a new... but It wasn't actually...)
That's what I eventually ended up trying, only it wouldn't work.
@@UPnDOWN ...🤔 I have a feeling that the Lexia works (in mysterious ways? = without telling you) only if certain operations are done in the right order. Similar to software installations on a computer that doesn't work - pull the plug and restart the system. I use the Lexia on a 'trial-and-horror' basis (since I don't have a manual).
I got to give it to you. Anyone else would have binned this car by now 😂
But again, to be fair the blown fuse was due to something I plugged into it. It did what it was supposed to do. There are some dodgy fault codes, though, yes.
I'm guessing it went into service high setting while doing forced regen to allow more cooling air under the car and thus through the engine compartment.
Possibly!
Reset should be in special functions.
Will you be repairing the headlining when the weather improves?
I'd love to tell you that I will, but...
Hello TopDon ...please regenerate headlining.... hellloooo Tap Tap Tap
If only
0.40 Hmm , all a bit fishy if you ask me !!
Older cars, a pain in the arse, I'm not sure which worries me more, welding, electrics or general wear and tear 🤔
Welding.
Essential C6 multifunctional diagnostic tablet from TopDon.
0 millibars on the differential pressure? I wonder what it is under load.
I'm not sure, that's what the next OBD session will be looking at. Luckily, I have a dyno...
Not necessarily surprised if Lexia didn't show all those codes. I think Citroen cars were transitioning to Diagbox during the late 00's and they might have a bunch of stuff that Lexia program can no longer recognize.
I did mean Diagbox, I keep referring to it as Lexia (it's on the same programme).
Goodday, need some advice if anyone’s got an idea. I replaced my valve block (i have the 2.7 hdi, 2006) before and after replacing an issue remains where in gear (both D and R) the engine’s idle rpm drops significantly letting off a huge vibration throughout the car and sometimes stalling.
I did notice (through diagbox) that in the BSI a code was logged for “brake contact signal” and it remained after deletion. I somehow suspect the transmission doesn’t know I have the brake depressed causing the TC to provide more torque to attempt to power through the brakes.
Anyone got advice or a similar issue?
Your torque converter could be faulty or failing.
I think you've got a dicky torque converter like me.
I'm not completely sure about the 'brake depressed...' expression in your post (still under some power I suppose). Is that the same as 'left braking' when trying to make the back end step out under power? If soo, I've tried it on my C4 1.6 Hdi and the ECU doesn't like it and all sorts of error messages turns up on the dash but goes away if I cool things down and drive 'normally'. English is not my native toung, Swedish is 😉
🥝✔️
How much time the regenerartion took? I have a feeling I would need to do it on mine :D
7 minutes, I think.
The oil leak and that bearing sound you mention is making me think... did you do the forced regen with the engine coolant temp at atleast 75°C? 🤔
It would have reached 75c pretty quickly, even if it didn't start at 75c!
Average distance travelled for last five regenerations is only 98km? At mine C6 2.7hdi is about 400km...
I don't cover many miles, poor thing.
@@UPnDOWN EGR off! 🙂
Don't beat yourself up so bad because you forgot to see if the fuse was blown. We all have a brain fart every now and then. Look at it this way, you won't forget it again. TopDon deserves two thumbs up for sending you a new unit right away. I am very happy that you can now talk to the car and do all these tests and such to help you keep her running the way she should.
Well the first TopDon unit blew the fuse, so something definitely not right with that, but the replacement has been A1 now.
Ooh… has the DPF regen thrashing found a new weak point in the car and provoked a failure of something ?
Hope you fix it before Rustival !
Tell it that you have changed the Dpf
That's what I was trying to do.
Hope You succeed Rich. Still fantastic viewing pleasure regardless though.
Look forward to meeting you at Rustival ☺️
Monday afternoon/evening is good. The big honchos want to drop on Fri , Sat evening/day.. Monday evening is second largest viewing market.
Is it?
Is anyone else having problems with this video? I see buffering about every minute. No other CZcams channel is doing it, and it happens on both Chrome and FireFox. Might be just local for me, but wondering if there's anything about the channel? Noon, Auckland time.
Hopefully just you! Seriously though, I don't record in full 4K or anything like that, so probably just a funny 5mins.
@@UPnDOWN Thank you very much for responding. Yes, it was just me. BTW, when you sent me my Up'n'DOWN car sticker (which has improved my fuel economy by 15%), NZ Customs opened the envelope, evidently regarding something so completely ordinary as Deeply Suspicious. So maybe the spies were monitoring your channel, and doing it in a clumsy way. You aren't the agent of some subversive organisation are you? Like maybe the Congress of International Tubers Rebelling Openly Everywhere Now?
Oh it's that bloody Chinese-made phone I use! Clearly monitoring my every move...
What about an idiots guide to Lexia / Diagbox. Only a video idea!
I'm a bit too idiotic for that!
@@UPnDOWN i was counting on you being idiotic enough to do it! Ive got it, and never used it (and I need to, the HDi wont start). At least I have worked out how to do balls with the Tecnosir kit.
Use diagbox lexia is utter rubbish and mainly for earlier vehicles diagbox gives more options
I meant Diagbox, can't get out of the habit of calling it Lexia (Lexia is in the same software on my laptop). That said, Lexia does do most of the stuff Diagbox does on mine.
i have seen your video ....i m from the netherlands and live now in spain.
i m looking for a driverseat (rightsight) in the light colour .... please can you help me?
of course i will pay the cost.
plaese let my now samthing .
eBay?
I am 100% sure this is not a paid promotion....
That's good to know!
'Topdon'...a hilarious Chinglish mishearing of 'Top-dog' during a sales meeting in Shenzhen which has stuck...with CZcams resellers.
I'm not a reseller at all, I just stated it didn't work before, and now it does.
Whatever particular financial arrangement you have with them, Topdon is a ridiculous name. That was my point.@@UPnDOWN
I hope I never own a car that can raise a trouble code from an engine mount. Just saying. 😊
Maybe you should tell Topdon, and apologise. If it was the other way round, you would be moaning. Just sayin’
Apologise for what?
@@UPnDOWN allow me to elaborate, as somebody who deals in diagnostics, you have openly admitted to being a fuse issue, but, you clearly got in touch with Topdon, who sent you a replacement. Did you tell them your diagbox/e lexia cable didn’t work? Probably not, you immediately blamed the tools! And that’s the point. Nice eyebrows anyway!
But the first TopDon unit *did* fail to work properly on this car (but not others, as I stated in those videos), and that's what blew the fuse. It wasn't the same product, whereas the (current) ArtiDiag Pro that they sent me to try as an alternative does now work once I'd tried Lexia/Diagbox and found that it too, no longer worked. I kept TopDon informed of everything all the way through, including the bits you haven't seen on here.
Forgive me for still struggling to see your point, but feel free to keep on as it's good for my algorithm!
Though I'm assuming if you've resorted to taking the piss out of peoples' appearance, that you've run out of things to say.
