The C6 has been 'whooshing' for too long now, and I'm losing too many traffic light GPs.

You know the boost leak is fixed because Mr. Kitch almost smiled. 😄
Never happened 😉
Trapped wind, I reckon.
I did smile! Didn't you see it?!

😄
Can we have a timestamp for confirmation, please?!
When you put on glasses for driving, you turn into geography teacher Kitch.
He did find his way to Gaydon….
Have to say, look's quite the distinguished gentleman with glasses, doesn't he?

Croatia in Croatian is Hrvatska, btw
The glorious Croatian pipe (Hrvatska pipe) has restored the C6 to its original performance. Amazing.
Pretty sure you'll find the knocking noise is your Fripp joint sir. It's the bottom pivot. They don't last long.!
So pleased you didn’t sell this car in the end
I bet you're also pleased your not paying the repair bills too. 😳
@@CathodeRayNipplez at least we help by watching videos.
i kind of am, I also have a C6 : )@@CathodeRayNipplez
Great that you found a suitable part! Hope there is no more whooshing after.
Absolutely love this car and it's absurd quirks.
You must have the patience of a saint(?) with your C6.
I feel your pain Kitch!!
I absolutely detest working on my modern daily….. but I’ll happily go out and work on my 51 year old Wolseley in all weathers and thoroughly enjoy myself!! 😆
Sure is challenging to work on but it's a C6 when you are done not a VW. That kind of makes it all worthwhile.
I must have missed the smiley bit. Very satisfying result, clonk aside. If I were closer, I'd design a couple of brackets, one to replace the original near the plenum but push the hose away from the block and a second to hold the hose clear of the pulley, probably what you're already thinking, then 3D print them in a suitable material.
That silicon aftermarket hose should be better than old plastic hose and great to hear no more woosing such a difficult hose to replace but one thing you will not have to replace that hose for a long time
Congratulations on finding the boost leak! Now on to the clunking from the front end. Good Luck!
Replacement booster hose for the win. Towards the end of the video, you described the knock as more of a rattle. This reminded me of the front suspension rattle I had on my 2008 C4 Grand Picasso which was the strut top mounts. I replaced them with genuine Citroen parts and the rattle was cured. It could be the same with your C6.
Nice work there boss.Well done.
Ahh fantastic well Done Kitch. There is no greater feeling than succeeding in fixing a problem that was hard to source.
Whoosh! You need Miss HubNut size hands to get deep inside your C6 rocket ship. The state of that original pipe though. Great work and video.
I probably do have Miss HubNut-sized hands!
Nice one! Improvements were made! New challenge manifested! The Quest continues!
A good win on the boost leak. Good luck with the rattling noise. Maybe it’s the ARB?
Another excellent little tinkering video on the C6 Rich, shame the rattle is still there, but at least there's no whooshing and as the Yoof of today says the C6 pulls like a train😂😂
I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but your videos are fricken awesome kitch 🤛💪👍
Another great video kitch😊 and your faux French accent is great Peter Sellars would be jealous
Well done.
C6 ♥️
Bottom ball joints are common, more of a bearing than a ball joint, did one on a last model C5 i owned but it made a grinding noise more than a knock tbh
Good job!
Also the big diesel sound is just fantastic, I'm but jealous with my 2.0 hdi
Rover 100? They've rebadged it, you fool!
Glad to see the boost leak fixed
I'll just talk over you.
Saw you at Rustival and talked about your C6. Looks like a lovely car, but also a nightmare to own...
Thanks again Richard! The engine compartiment is horrible, but the C6 is such a beautiful car!❤
It really is!
Don’t fear the copyright strike
I chopped it about and cut out the bits where I wasn't talking, and it passed the test OK :-)
@@UPnDOWNGood job 👍 As you were 😊
Don't fear the reaper.
the sounds with the pipe next to the microphone you could accompany the blue man group when they're playing on the pvc pipes. 🤣
I knew that it had a boost leak! As I believe I said before. I have ran Dirty old 1.9 PD's with Decats, EGR valve deletes, with hybrid turbos running over 230bhp that smoke less!
I knew it had one too!
Great job. I find if you have a slight noise, then just turn the radio up job done
My! What a big crack! 😮
Blue Oyster Cult in the background at the start - excellent.
But not featured enough to earn me a strike, luckily!
Remember if you need parts for this engine, and you cant find them at Citroen/Peugeot - Jaguar may likely have them. When I had my S Type with this engine I'd go to Citroen/Peugeot to get parts and Vice Versa.
Plastic fittings is definitely a case of built in obsolescence.
You may find it could be the anti roll bar bushes causing the rattle. Crazy thing is the bushes cause a rattle at the other end. I have a citreon C4 that was doing the same thing. No I didnt get a new anti roll bar just the bushes.
I had a intercooler pipe that pop out on my Xantia 1.9TD from 96 (back in 2001)... I was driving during the night on A1 at Portugal , pushing the 92Hp while climbing the steep grade near Fatima to keep the 120Km/h in 5th when suddenly it went gutless , hardly maked 70Km/h in 3rd when arrived to the top of the climb, and fortunately there is a gas station there... it was pitch night , looking to the dark pipes and trying to figure out what append... and suddenly I see the shadow of the rubber tube that interconnects the tube to the intercooler , blind luck I didn't loose the screwed clamps when they pop out ...
I bought a Xantia TD once that was spares/repairs. Turned out that very pipe was D/C from the intercooler!
Half an hour relaxing time… for me! See you soon - Martin
🚗💨☠️🇫🇷♥️
Check the lower hub carrier bush.
She has had 2 of those previously
Don't fear the reaper!
Those pipes make an intriguing sound when you slap them, and I was waiting for an impromptu performance. Just to introduce a note of culture, in the 1970s a New Zealand experimental music group called From Scratch made a number of pieces for arrays of PVC pipes slapped on the open ends with flip-flops (technical name for such an instrument, a "plosive aerophone"). They had such a strong sense of rhythm that it was not at all dire in the way experimental music so often is. A use for discarded tubing lying around the workshop?
Aside from the fact I am rhythm immune, a great idea!
I'm sure you've probably sorted the clonk by now or have checked this and I know a Panda is a bmvery different car..... BUT, when I had a similar clonk the garage changed my drop links which didn't cure it and it turned out to be a loose bump stop moving about on the strut that wasn't quite worn enough to drop down.
Ive seen VAG turbo pipes do the cracking thing.
I'd love a C6. Definitely a future classic but the road tax is a major ripp off and it's diesel puts me off.
It sounds like you’re auditioning for The Blue Man Group
love your videos , you find a problem and then try to fix it with some real effort unlike Mr Hubnut who likes to bodge it whenever he can with a magic can of engine flush or injector cleaner watered down many times with diesel. you could really teach him a thing or three😂
Very useful, now wondering if my C6 intercooler pipe is porous. ...
It could well be! My turbos were much more vocal than they were now, even a couple of years ago. Lots of tiny cracks would do that.
I'd look for traces of oil around that hose.
😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍
Regarding the newly found performance, have you tried to reset any kind of adaptations in the gearbox? Automatics can go mad with an engine that's not working "properly"
What a great idea to start making engine parts out of plastic.........
The best one I ever saw was plastic camshaft pulleys on Zetec engines in 2006-2009.
ARB bushes gone? Had similar in my old alfa 156
Could the rattle your hearing be top mounts or anti roll bar bushes love watching your channel. Love the c6 might get one one day always love french cars ive always had Renaults until recently land-rover endless problems want a french car back in my life lol
Anti roll bar Bush may be
.HR is, indeed, the code for Croatia. Maybe it's a silent H😊
Relax, man, find your neutral space. You got a rush. It will pass. Be seated. Deep breaths embrace the horrible think Citroen. My friend Danny told me that!! Do you understand!! lol Nice one!!
I don't fully understand, if I'm honest! But cheers all the same!

Sorry bud, I was just throwing in a withnail and I quote it for a laugh.
I left a link a while back, of this french guy's channel. He restores DS and SM’s to music. He is also a DJ and runs a radio station. His CZcams channel is CITROTHELLO. His work is just amazing and will give you a great insight to putting together the SM. It’s a real pleasure to watch, just like upndown but a bit different. I've been watching all your videos every week,, well since the beginning and I do like your channel very much. Thanks again!! fromTony..
Can't believe how poor the plastic is! 😮
Road tax stupity ..
Daughters 2019 Aygo Dex 23 £180
Wife’s 2016 4.5T FiAT Ducato diesel Horsebox £165
Makes no sense in emissions, size, weight, mpg…
No, but in a Thatcherite economic theory “supporting” businesses is, which means lowering taxes on businesses-y “cars”
@@ramdynebixIt's not even that consistent. My Peugeot Expert is very "business-y" - it spent the first 13 years of its life as a taxi, and it's basically a van - but it costs about a million pounds a year to tax*.
* It's been in bits in a workshop since summer 2022 so I'm not sure of the current tax rate.
Crazy, isn't it?
Anti roll bar bushings bad if its knocking?
Oh my lord, what sort of crap plastic was that original pipe made from! Sounded like those old plastic egg boxes😂
I suspect it was more than up to the job 165k miles and 17 years ago, but I also suspect that making it last that long wasn't high on the designers' list of criteria!
Rich your chimaera book is out of stock !!!! Where can I get one
Have you contacted the publisher, Veloce?
No I’ll have a look
@@UPnDOWNit’s out of stock
criss cross will make you Jump , Jump
Have you checked inner tie rods? I had a sound I was convinced was a droplink until the end came out of the rack...
You're bang on, that's what it was! Did the N/S just before Rustival.
What is the deal with paying road tax monthly. To me that’s a bit stupid as I’m from Australia & in Victoria we pay registration fees (aka tax) of £400 & that is for 12 months at a time. Wouldn’t it be easier just to pay 1 lump sum & have a car that is taxed for 12 months rather than worry about every month?
You can pay it up front, or monthly.
Given that it's plastic, why not just patch that pipe up with epoxy? Good as new.
Did you not hear the pipe when I squeezed it?!
Something your C6 and my little Honda CR-Z have in common - they both feature on a list of future classics compiled by Frank Stephenson who designed cars for the likes of Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia and McLaren, to name but a few. I'll chuck the link in. czcams.com/video/opzrUENjXow/video.html
I'll check that out, thanks.
That said, his description begins "World reknowned supercar designer Frank Stephenson..."
He wears a Rolex, doesn't he?! I'm guessing so...
Because its french
Good grief, that placker boost pipe is just about the most excremental piece of junk I've ever seen on a turbo production car!!!! Unless, it was DESIGNED to fail and cause the max amount of traumatic frustration!!! Even compared to Citroens own Xantia HDI it is obscenely terrible!!! So glad I never bought one of these horrors!
Cheer up!
Plastic in and on engines should be banned. Horrible idea.
Sorry but I believe you are insufficient in the cowbell department.
Being following your woes with this C6, For a supposed luxury vehicle, the quality of the parts is appallingly bad. A few days ago I saw one (they ˋre hard to see) and could only thing of your car!
The quality of the parts that people interact with is fine, it's the stuff underneath, but that's the same of most cars of this era. Who could forget Mercedes and their biodegradable wiring looms!?
Re cream interior steering wheel, maybe keep a clean cloth to handle clean bits with quickly?
That's far too sensible.
