Hi Baz great video! Ford tech here. On the ecoboost if you hold down the accelerator pedal as you crank it disables the injectors so it wont start as long as you holding down the pedal. just saves you getting in and out of the car to plug coils back in.

Planning tp do this on my son's car at the end of August when he's away on holidays. Keep the wet belt videos coming Baz, I'll be a proper expert by then without ever having touched one. Seriously though, I'm fully expecting to have a mare of a time with the exhaust and A/C pump so I'll start giving them a few squirts of the ol' penetrating fluid in the weeks leading up to it.

The internal dipstick tube is such a good idea. It doesn't get in the way when you're working on things outside the engine, and also doesn't have that annoying issue of getting stuck like normal ones (the water / rust trap where they go into the block on most engines).

I have to disagree. I worked for a taxi firm that ran a fleet of Peugeots. When i started there, they had about 50 cars. They were serviced every 10k by our own workshop. Every Monday morning there would be a queue of broken Peugeots.
Now, the same firm has close to 200 Totota's and the workshop is dead apart from regular servicing, tyres and brakes.

I really enjoyed watching that. I love Alfas and, 15-20 years ago a £350 cam belt and water pump was essential on twin spark engine. On another EcoBoost video the cost was £1200 inc VAT. So you can see why people might avoid it. My point is, even Fords are now as complex and expensive as Alfas 😳

Auto data say 3 hours to do the old style engine & you don't have to strip the sump off it, these Ecoboost engines look like you have to tear half of it down to do the belt.
And what idiot thought its would be a good idea to submerge a rubber belt in oil ?
Are eco boost engines that much more economical.. I have my doubts.
Even Ford are beginning to admit /( after ten years) that there are major design issues with this crappy engine .

So my 2014 now has a 'updated' Cologne Engine Plant September 2019 Engine currently at 40,000 miles and had few problems including blocked sump and blown Turbo on January back there... I noticed a pin hole leak in my Degas Hose last night so taped up and will replace at weekend.
These cars are great to drive but so bloody poor engineering with all that goes wrong... I would NEVER pay for a Wet Belt + Catalyst replacement at a cost of £1000-£1500 on a ten year old car no matter how many parts I've replaced over the years.
When the wet belt and Cat goes its best using that £1000-£1500 on a deposit on a newer car.

    Absolute rubbish!
Even if you regularly service and maintain your Ford Ecoboost, the engine will still go boom and damaged.
I can tell you this as a former owner of a Ford Focus Ecoboost.
Also, Ford cars requires a lot of expensive repairs not just the engine but also coolant leaks, regular wheel bearing replacements, etc.
I advise people NOT to buy a Ford and buy a more reliable Japanese cars like, Toyota, Lexus, Honda, etc.

Agree, Ford have acknowledged there is a issue with these and recalled in USA due to people suing their arses.

I am amazed how poorly designed that is. Imagine having to do all that work just to change a belt LOL.
Good skills and patience to do that. I would have binned it lol.
Ford have some shocking bad designs. They utterly hate mechanics.
