  • Some days have it all. You wake up to a slow morning, with light winds. In the middle of your route a lunch is waiting, and two fellow travellers show up for good company. You continue, with a forecast of freshening to slightly scary winds. You time the moments of reefing right, and a sheltered bay awaits to think and make a follow-up plan. It’s not far to go to the next shelter, and you decide it’s doable. Intense sailing awaits, but you are in control, accompanied by a most dramatic sky. The shelter is better than expected. It even has an extra shed for dry firewood, and it is completely sheltered off the wind. A beer, campfire and some food concludes the day.
With such a day, on the second day on the water of my 15 day journey, it felt like I had done what I came to do already. I could go home. Luckily, I had many of days still ahead of me!
To find camping places and shelters, a great collection via google maps can be found at:

The location of the shelter map sites seem to be changed a lot, so you can google "shelter map Sweden" as well to find good locations (or use your eyes ;)
