Loved your Dubai vlog. I have been twice. I found it a little noisy and manic for me now. My daughter lived in Abu Dhabi for four years as a flight attendant, then married there on the Hotel beach of St Regis, Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi. It is much quieter and relaxing there. Weirdly it felt a little cooler there too. Probably just my imagination. Thank again for your lovely vlogs.

Happy birthday. I was quite disappointed that you commented on that lady. I thought she looked beautiful. I think for some women it’s hard enough showing off more skin than usual whilst they are on holiday and comments like that just prove why so many of us are body concious 😕
If this was a top tier CZcamsr she would have got cancelled for this video . Very disappointed, that lady didn’t have everything hanging out so was it because she was curvy ? Body shaming never a good look .
Thank you. It wasn’t body shaming, I just thought there was a total lack of respect for women to walk around inside the hotel for breakfast half naked in a Muslim country! Fine on the beach. Nothing to do with her body. I would have made the same comments for any size, colour and shape x
She was at BREAKFAST not on the beach, that was my point. Nothing to do with her shape or size. The point was about lack of respect for the culture of the country, nothing more. I was shocked that people walked around with hardly anything on everywhere IN the hotel. The only hotel in Dubai apparently, and well known for what goes on at night there. Won't be visiting there again x

Dubai - I stayed in a desert hotel there - Bab al sham - was heaven - it was like a mirage as we drove up the road towards it and transported you back in time - and then a couple of days in town before flying back. The desert hotel was amazing.
Didn’t like being in town much. As you say Dubai has changed vastly and is so built up and busy.
I’ve noticed that these young things don’t care these days what they look like , what size they are , how much flesh they reveal etc. I’ve also noticed like you that they treat us older ladies with respect and love that we can be quirky and trendy too.
It’s nicer to find a place to stay where you feel totally at ease and it offers you what you want and need but unless you try places you’re not going to find the one for you.

Dubai was built by and is serviced by slave labour and funny how so many people love to go there but how ashamed we are of our own cultures’ historical associations with slavery. It’s appalling we support this glittering Mecca by visiting it. Oil funded it but the people who were brought in from poor countries to do the donkey work have no rights, no identity, no place in society - are absolutely nothing … and not much of a life. Bussed in from compounds on the outskirts hidden from view - mustn’t offend the rich and famous who pour their wealth into Dubai’s economy. It’s a difficult one because I know a number of people who holiday there frequently even some who own property there but scratch the surface and you’ll see there is a dark disturbing under belly and whilst we all turn a blind eye - what does that say about us? I mean REALLY!? It surprises me you buy into it - it’s supporting a regime just by going there. Human rights!!! I still love you and your channel but just have to highlight the situation because I wonder how many people are aware.
You’re right and I only went because that was my brother’s choice for his 50th. It’s very difficult for me to share my life on here and cope with all the negative comments I get, so I can only apologise.
The first time we went to Dubai 23years ago it was super sparse and in fact we stayed at the Jumeirah Hotel so the only other place to walk to at night was the Burj Al Arab. We’ve been back a few times and I agree with you, it has become so “party” orientated that it is sometimes hard to avoid the noise etc from whichever Hotel we stay in. The locals and staff make it for me as they are lovely! Glad you had a nice catch up with your bro for your birthday xx

This ageing milarky is a funny thing. There's ten years between me and my brother. In my teens and 20s we were poles apart. In my 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s the age gap didn't seem so noticeable but now as I approach 70 and he's only approaching 60 I'm looking at him and thinking how much younger he is than me again!

A happy birthday to you! At least we ruled the 70's & 80's, Suzi, eh? ;) Every generation has its heyday. I distinctly remember an "old" man telling me, when I was about 20, to enjoy my time, as it was the best age to be. And, I did! May these young ones, who will all too soon be usurped by the unborn and the newborns of today enjoy long, healthy lives, so that they can feel like we do, now. Saying that, this past weekend, we attended a fab concert of a noted 1970's band (lead singer was now 75 & in great health!) where we were surrounded by an audience our compadres who were also alive in the 1960's & 70's. The 1960's were quite beautiful for someone like me, who didn't go through any horrible experiences. The fashions, the colors, the music... but, then again I am sure my 1920's Flapper grandmother enjoyed her roaringly hip time, as well - the fashions, the colors, the music. What goes around, comes around - and, the cycle does not stop! Thank you for the vlog, Suzi! I will never make it to Dubai, but hope to make it back to England, soon.

It's funny how different things can make one feel old, isn't it? My 'realisation' came this week when I was lugging two massively heavy bags of laundry to the Launderette - and not one man offered to help me. God, did I feel old, past it, geriatric and very sad ...... Lovely vlog from one of my favourite places: spent my 60th birthday stood outside the Burj Al Arab (my fave building) with a ruddy great smile on my face - Heaven!

So nice that you got to spend time with your brother and don't be so hard on yourself. We women of a certain age should be more content with our image but this comes from one that works out like I am 20 and after feeling like I am a 100. I go in the water with a above the knee wrap and only take it off to sunbathe in my bikini. My sister at 61 is two years younger but still wears short shorts and tennis skirts but we both have the same legs but I like to keep mine hidden even in the Florida heat. I checked the weather in Dubai today and it was exactly like ours, no sign of fall yet.
Ive stayed at the five palm before. It is a nice hotel but very made in essex type crowd. We stayed with a child which i wouldnt do again as it is more a party hotel. On the plus side it does have a really nice childrens play room and pool 😂

As someone who's always been a size 16 from age 18 I have to admit to being slightly jealous of today's young women because we boomers were brought up believing it was just not on to wear anything revealing if you were larger than a size 12! My weight and dress size has never altered over the decades so in many respects I feel I've had the last laugh.

I liked the pool looked so inviting. I'm not only older in my 70s but a wee bit grumpier too so would enjoy the quieter places. Not that I don't love music but a different generation. I've never been to Dubai but have friends that traveled there & enjoyed shopping. Beyond my budget 😅.

The hotel looks amazing, it's a shame it wasn't right for you. It wouldn't be my cup of tea either if it's full of posers. I've only been to Dubai once for a day while on holiday in Abu Dhabi five or six years ago and it was interesting but not my ideal holiday destination. From what I've seen on social media since then it seems a lot more flashy (if that's possible) and much more liberal in terms of dress code and alcohol. For that sort of cost I'd rather go to Barbados but I'm glad I've been and seen the views from the Burj Khalifa.
