She Came In Through the Bathroom Window is another example in which Joe Cocker covers a Beatles tune and renders it in its definitive form.
Yes. Delta Lady is a must to play. But also, Joe's version of The Letter is fantastic. (1970 Mad Dogs and Englishmen) video.
SHE CAME N THROUGH THE BATHROOM WINDOW, is another Beatles cover that Joe completely blows up, as only he could!!
This is one of Joe Cocker's best studio recordings, but his LIVE stuff is also a must see, with the "Mad Dogs and Englishmen". And PLEASE keep going back again to the greatest time in music, the Late-60s and Early-70's. And do more by The Who, Cream, Hendrix, Santana, since you need to do "Three Reactions" to be a "fan". These were ALL great live bands, so their Live stuff is a must from the late-60s and early-70s. They have so many classic performances, and so many great songs.
So ..thank you for playing Joe Crocker. Please watch his biography video. It is a shame that no one realized he was autistic and he desperately needed help throughout his life . He was brilliant but lonely. His social skills were just horrible and yet he is one of my very favorite artists. My oldest is autistic as well, she too is incredibly talented.💋💕💘💗😻🍂🔥
The original was written by Dave Mason (R&R Hall of Famer, from Traffic and a solo career). Dave was great, too. His first album, Alone Together, will stand up with almost anything in rock.
I love Traffic’s “version”! Dave Mason is great.
The several times I’ve seen Dave Mason live, he plays this song musically more like Cockers version than his own.
Oh yes and I forgot about the original which was very good!
Cocker’s version is incredible and owned it!
Joe Cocker was an English singer known for his gritty, bluesy voice & dynamic stage performances that featured expressive body movements. He recorded a few Beatles' songs "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" & "Something". Other hits were "Up Where We Belong" (a duet with Jennifer Warnes), "Delta Lady", "Darling Be Home Soon", "Cry Me A River", "The Letter" etc.
the live version of Cry Me a River from Mad Dogs and Englishmen is phenomenal
Mary Clayton was the female vocalist on the Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter."
The late great Leon Russell on piano. You need to listen to some of his music Delta Lady, Roll Away the Stone and many, many more.
I haven't heard this in ages, Joe had such an expressive and unique voice. Great to see you enjoying the music of my youth. Traffic is another group I think you'll like a lot.
saw him at 15 yrs old in Vancouver. Best concert i have ever been too. NOBODY LIKE HIM. HE HAD AN INTERESTING LIFE AS WELL, FROM DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROBLEMS TO BECOMING A MAN OF FAITH HELPING A CHILDRENS ORG. WITH HIS WIFE ON THE SAME MOUNTAIN THEY LIVED ON. I AM SO HAPPY 😅 THEY FOUND EACHOTHER. BOTH ARE GONE NOW. 😢
this is a Traffic cover. You should check them out.
Cry Me A River HAS to be next! Love, from Oklahoma 🤍
Another Joe Cocker cover song/music video that you should react to, is his 1986 cover of the 1972 Randy Newman song, “You Can Leave Your Hat On”. It was also part of the soundtrack for the 1986 film, “9 1/2 Weeks”. There are two music videos for the song. The one that I watched on MTV was the “9 1/2 Weeks” one with the stripping scene.
Yes, maybe compare with Tom Jones’ version.
Legend. Rest In Peace Joe
Glad to see these jewels of the past, finding new ears and hearts to touch. Do yourself and your viewers a solid. Listen to the end, before your review is spoken. Absorb the sum total, and feel it all.
High Time We Went by Joe is a killer classic
RIP Leon Russell....thanks for all those keys🕊️🕊️🕊️oh...qel kudos to Leon..but was different player ....on this recording....sounds great either way
The Letter(live) , Unchain My Heart . keep on hittin him and hit him hard !
I agree with the suggestions here, and I’d love to add “Delta Lady” to the must listens.
The band, "Traffic" wrote this song originally.
Highly, highly recommend checking them out, too---- fantastic musicianship, and amazing vocals as well....
Joe brings CHURCH into everything.. these guys grew up listening to a load of blues songs.
I’m tellin u, ur gonna really dig his concert film from this period: MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN!!!
THE LETTER!
That movie and album were my introduction to Joe. Best version of every song
'You Can Leave Your Hat on'....I THINK IT'S FROM THE FILM '9&1/2 Weeks'.
The Full Monty also features the song.
"Unchain my Heart" is another great performance by Joe.
You need to hear Black Coffee by Humble Pie from the LIVE BBC Session!
Hi...if you did say that Merry Clayton was one of the backing vocalists on this track, then may I suggest you listen to her superb work on the Rolling Stones track "Gimme Shelter", if you haven't already done so. Unmatchable.
Enjoying your reactions, thank you very much. Kind wishes from Melbourne, Australia.
Absolutely should! "Gimme Shelter" is amazing! but recently I found "I Hear You K"nocking...the engineer left the tape running and the Stones, who thought it was a wrap, then eclipsed into a jam session you'll have to hear to believe!
Ooooh, Merry Clayton did an AMAZING job on "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones. If you haven't heard it yet, you need to!
Yes, very Ray Charles. The arrangement is like an R&B chacha with jazz piano.
Gotta try Cry Me a River , and The Letter.
There were many session (studio) musicians that went on to become successful recording artists, including Jimmy Page, Glenn Campbell, and Billy Preston.
Hey, Bill Withers worked in a factory making toilet seats. One day one of his songs came on the radio and his buddy on the production line said "Bill, I think you can stop making toilet seats now."
Ya, this is a catchy little tune. saw Joe live in a Detroit music hall in 1970 or thereabouts. Oh ya, Mary Clayton sang backup on The Rolling Stones "Gimmie' Shelter".
Darling Be Home Soon is another cover of a great song that Joe puts his spin on and nails it
I like this song so much and you are looking so cute with them moves. I would have loved being in the room with you dancing. ❤
If you listen to "Woman to Woman" by him, you're gonna be surprised by the opening piano sample!!!
Look into "Three Dog Night". They did an excellent version of this song as well.
Joe also was a good sport. His writhing and contortions on stage were popularly spoofed on SNL. John Belushi even did a duet with Joe, imitating his uncomfortable look.
Leon Russell on keys. At least on the live version.
Get with the Mad Dogs and Englishmen movie and album. Live video and performances. Cocker rocks Feelin Alright. And the Letter is bad ass.
written by Dave Mason in 1968 on an album by Traffic
Thanks man! I been dealing with some health issues lately and ain't felt like doing a thing. You got me up on my feet and dancing for the first time in a while ☮️💃❤️💃❤️💃❤️💃❤️💃❤️💃❤️💃❤️💃
He also does a cover of Ray Charles' "Unchain My Heart". Whoa! And a cookin' version of "You Can Leave Your Hat On".
You really gotta do some live Cocker, truly a good experience.
That's a great reaction, brother. You should hear Joe sing Delta lady
Woman to Woman
There’s a huge Easter egg in there… and it’s amazing.
❤
Recommend this one...Joe Cocker and "You can leave your hat on".
The Letter is a great song too!
I remember when I first heard him. I definitely thought that he was black. The best music!
I saw you get on those of us who watch your reactions and how you were disappointed that no one recommended Joe Cocker. So here is another artist who covered a song and the original artist told her the song is now yours. This is the version I prefer. k.d. lang performs Hallelujah at the Olympics. enjoy and I enjoy watching your reactions to us boomers music. Also when you get a chance some blue eyed soul by the righteous brothers will make your day.
"Feelin Alright" is my favorite
I'm Late to theis show. Cocker was incredible Live. I saw him three times over the years. The versions you have been playing are studio versions , calm and subdued for radio of the 60s and early 70s. You don't have to react to it BUT you have to listen to Joe Cocker's LIVE Mad Dogs And English Men album.
What stopped some of these session musicians from breaking out was getting backing from producers. Some did make it like Glen Campbell and Larry Knechtel who were part of The Wrecking Crew as they were coined much later . They played on many artists original recordings, one of which was zthe Beach Boys. They were considered the unheralded ‘house band for Phil Spectre creating the Wall of Sound! They also were the session band for Sonny & Cher, The Manas and the Papas, and The Fifth Dimension.Pkease look them up!
React to Unchain my heart. Joe was just amazing.

Grand Funk Railroad "Feeling Alright" to me is the best cover of this song ever. IMO
vintage joe was fire.
Hey, check out Traffic sometime. Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason. Fantastic stuff. Another great British band from late ‘60s.
A group called Rare Earth also recorded this song.
Some musicians may have commitments like young family, and don’t want to travel, don’t wanna be tied down. I want to be able to work on their own stuff periodically on their own schedule, yet to make enough money to keep things going. Some groups of session musicians like the “Wrecking Crew” in LA were
So regularly used to “rescue” albums that they grew such a great reputation because they had musical great ones like Glen Campbell in their midst !
Bro keep goin...lovin all these vibes .
A current band, Here Come the Mummies, may or may not be session musicians out of Nashville. That's the rumor, they keep their identities in the band secret, dress like mummies with only mouth and eyes showing for most members. What does shiw us usually covered in face paint
My recommendation ?
"Cry Me A River" live with Leon Russel and the Englishmen about 1970. You may like that , too
We are starting to think maybe Joe was possessed by an old blues man some time in his early life. And that ghost only came out when he went to sing a song. That's our theory. 😀
This is a song I believe Joe wrote with a writer friend wrote. She came in through the bathroom window, The Letter, Cry me a river.
The Black Crowes did a great remake of this on the David Letterman Show back in 1992.
Blues - keep it alive white boys
We now old but we want it to survive some of the stuff thats out there. Being the best we can be. FOR YOU
The Letter from the Mad Dogs and Englishmen film.
Written by Dave Mason of Traffic
Theme song from the movie FLIGHT, Denzel Washington, 2010
Mad Dogs and Englishmen! When you get a chance see who is on the piano. Another artist for you to do reactions.
Enjoy
Go watch a movie called Standing In The Shadows Of Motown. It's a great documentary about a group of background musicians who played on all the great Motown songs. It'll give you insight into the lives of some of those great players that we hear everywhere but never know too much about
Rihanna Gibbons: Julie, Crosby Stills and Nash, Jhonny Cash, The Who, Jenny Lewis, Rightous Brothers: Shes Lost that loving Feeling, Dope Lemon: Hey You.... Just a Start
Check out Traffic. Good sessions musicians back in the day all ended up pretty wealthy without all the fame and wildness that often wrecks the artist. Some people love music. Some love music and FAME.
ჩემი უსაყვარლესი მომღერალი❤❤❤❤ვგიჟდები ჯო კოკერზე❤❤❤
Michael Jackson and Barry Gibb
All In Your Name.
Please watch the live Joe performance of a little help from my friends at Woodstock. I need to see you react to his performance. Please .
We need more Bee Gees reactions.
Mr Natural.
I Can't See Nobody. Bodyguard.
The Sun Will Shine.
Wedding Day.
When He's Gone.
Nights On Broadway.
The Jackson 5 came around a couple years later.
Leon Russell on piano
For an awesome Cocker cover experience, try The Letter. The original is by the Boxtops. Great tune. Cover by Cocker? Dynamite!
❤
Your first live Joe Cocker must be A Little Help From My Friends at Woodstock. You have to start with the best. The one you did was better than good but it WAS NOT GREAT. Then you can move on to You Can Leave Your Hat On. And dont miss Joe and John Belushi both doing each other to do Joe. Great performance and a great comedy. Dont mess with a Detroiters idea of great.
I think we should sit every person down and make them listen to this song. If they don’t get to dancing and moving in their seat, I’m quite confident they must be Lizard People. 😊
Joe Cocker - Women to Women
You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks for doing some Joe. Live or studio, makes no difference to me. It’s all good.
You are missing out on SO MUCH by not watching a live video of him singing.
Watch the movie, the wrecking crew it’s about the session musicians
50 years and except for the chorus, I can't understand the words 😂. Time for me to do some homework....
P. S. Ok, After listening to Traffic (nice sax solo) I get the lyrics now.
Why did session musicians not strike out on their own, you asked?
Not every musician has the right temperament for performing live, for one.
Also, the life of touring to perform is not for everyone, especially those who with families at home. It's draining and exhausting.
So a lot of musicians are happy to just work in a studio, and collect their paychecks.
Saying this as someone who perfomed live for decades, it's fun, but also grueling hard work with crazy hours...
React to Joe Cooker - Unchain my heart 🎶
You might want to get live versions of the songs that you review. Just a suggestion to you, it's not the same if all you do is listen, you've got to see the artist in action...
This is my personal favorite Joe Cocker and to be honest, I think it's Leon Russel's fault.
Session man....Jimmy page !
Group Traffic, 1968
I love this cover of this song but it's not the best version of this song number one gose to Gladys Knight and the Pips 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 number two might be Grand funk railroad, then the Jackson 5 the bass on that is tight, then Joe Cocker then rare earth, Three dog night, got to give props to Traffic for doing it first........, fight me 😉
Try black bird.
Omg, another studio version. Don’t get me wrong, there great, but you know NOTHING about Joe Crocker until you see him live! I’m sorry, but you’re missing half the show if you can’t see him. He’s absolutely unique. You ain’t seen nothing yet!
Try woman to woman Joe Cocker
❤
