She's just the greatest and most accomplished female singer of the last 50 years. Pop, Rock, Country, Broadway, classics, Light Opera, Chicano music, and the list goes on and on. She's the best "Torch" singer I've ever heard.. When Pat Benetar won Female Vocalist of the Year, Benetar said it was impossible because "Ronstadt is still alive." The amazing thing about her is that she is as sweet as she is talented. Check out her Tonight Show appearance where she sings "When you wish upon a star" and her control is evident. She single handedly brought the "Great American Songbook" back into prominence and introduced it to modern Americans when she did 3 albums with Nelson Riddle. I've never heard her miss a note. Ever.

Always a Heart fan. Wanted so much to be able to sing like Ann Wilson. Paved the way for other fabulous female rockers. Joan Jett and Lita Ford are two that come to mind.

I think the reason you don't understand why Mushroom Records put out that rumour is because we were born in an era when that kind of thing is just flat out disgusting. Back then, it was calculated to be titillating a lot of sick in the head white dude rock fans by sick in the head white dude record label suits because that kinda shit was just kinda in the air, lot more misogyny and objectification of women to that level where an incest rumour would spur sales. It's honestly a credit to you and to our era that it comes across as just plain wrong and confusing without the context of what that era could be like. The sisters were right to be furious about it, and at least a damn good song came out of it as a silver lining, even if it was a nasty ass cloud over their career.

Folk music tends to be more ballad or story oriented and does sometimes cross over with country and rock. Country music tends to be more twangy and stereotypically more the beer with the boys and my girl left me with my dog and my truck, type of song. You should check out Black Day in July or the Canadian Railroad Trilogy. He was a master storyteller and those two song and the one you listen to in this video are amazing examples of his abilities. Bob Dylan called Gordon his favourite songwritter.

Love this song! Heart is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Crazy on You", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc.

I saw them in 1976 in MSG in NY, and by then I learned to play it. I never covered it professionally because I played mostly originals, but it remains my all time favorite cover to play.

I loved your commentary about Susan. She has remained humble. I loved Fantasia, her singing was incredible on the show. Someone else to look at from a talent show is Sam Bailey - another extraordinary singer.
