She had spent her adult life caring for her mother. She promised her mother that one day she would try to become a professional singer to make her proud.
Should have watched a little longer ! He would have been very interested!
stop talking x
You are right. The audience was laughing at her before she sang.
Can you imagine the strength of her spirit to not be thrown or deflated by that?
No one is laughing at her now.
Unlike AGT, BGT used to be absolutely riddled with joke acts. Her demeanor and speech patterns led the audience to believe she was going to present a joke act. They really weren't being mean - but they got the shock of their lives.
2 points. Like Simon said there were alot of bad singers that day so expectations were low. They could have taken those crowd reactions from anytime and edited them in there.
Susan Boyle was lucky enough to sing a duet with Elaine Paige, the woman she said she wanted to be as big as 😊
They sang “I know him so well” a song well known and sung by Elaine Paige and Barbra Dickson from the play “musical chess”
Boyle did suffer a stroke in 2022, but fought hard to recover and with determination she was able to return to the stage in 2023 🥰
Such a wonderful lady, I wish her well for an amazing future ❤
The world is overflowing with ordinary people who have untapped talents. Not all of them make for good television, but there are so many quietly amazing people out there.
Everyone has a talent and we need our talents to survive old age....talents are forever.
Susan Boyle had a bit of a rocky couple of years early on. She was touring and had a bit of a breakdown. Simon took her under his wing and scaled back the touring. She also sought medical help and was diagnosed with Asperger's. She is financially set for life and is now living her best life. She remodeled the home she lived in with her mother and still lives there. She makes appearances and records when she wants to and putters around her garden when she wants to.
She had a stroke some years ago and fortunately she’s on the mend.
@@samhain1894 It was recent, not "some years ago". 2022
Potters
@@kerrypearce4264 Nope "putter" (verb) "occupy oneself in a desultory but pleasant manner, doing a number of small tasks or not concentrating on anything particular.
"early morning is the best time of the day to putter around in the garden"
@@hectorsmommy1717 ok. I thought it was maybe 5 years ago.
I have to say this: You're referring to her beauty was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, especially from a young man like you. So many people talk about her appearance in a negative way that I am so touched that you saw her soul instead of just her humble appearance. You were raised very well or raised yourself very well as you have a good, good heart!
Well said. I couldn’t agree more.
Meeeeeee, too!!!!!! ❤
People who were in the audience have said that, from the first note, her voice filled the entire room and everyone got goosebumps. The audience was stunned.
I recommend Susan singing “Wild Horses” live. It’s fairly recent and so, so good. ❤
My favorite cover of one of my favorite songs.
My favorite cover of one of my favorite songs.
And that is the discovery of Susan Boyle. It still brings tears to my eyes.
Still lifts me up and brings tears. Love
Just to clarify: this was from Britain's Got Talent, not America. Susan Boyle is from Scotland, which is part of Great Britain and the UK.
SUSAN BOYLE IS NOW A MILLIONAIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I love this woman" awww... That was so touching.❤ You're not alone. Millions of people fell in love with her.
We watched this in real time, yes people laughed at her when she came on stage, even SC however when she opened her mouth to sing the whole audience & UK population went quiet & were left speechless.
Ive been watching the original video since 2009...Every time I watch the video, I start bawling. ❤
Right?
So do I.
It's really not fair. So many gorgeous voices out there, yet ones looks keep them from shining. Meanwhile we alot of talentless artists out there who look good, but can't sing.
My all time favorite CZcams video is Susan Boyle’s audition.
While she appeared confident, she has said in interviews that she knew the audience was making fun of her and felt like running off the stage but decided to try to prove them wrong. It was such an act of courage, especially as she has Asperberger's, a type of autism. Simon Cowell signed her and tried to support and protect her as she's struggled with fame.
One of the top 5 moments in that show... perhaps #1. She is set for life...
As well as Jonathon and Charlotte and Paul Potts, the ultimate never judge talent on first looks!
Makes me cry, at how brave she was! All those laughing at her before pissed me off! So happy for her being financially well off! He mum is very proud!
You always cheer for "the people that get overlooked." You're a good man, MMBXMOB!
I remember my father had tears in his eyes when he heard susan boyle. We all did.
Love your response to Susan Boyle’s singing and her personality. You are kind and generous and have great insight and respect towards others. You’re a good fella!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You missed one of the best parts, when they gave her their comments and votes.
Yes, please do watch that too.
I love her little grin just before she starts to sing, She knew that she would "blow them away" with her voice & I'll always love the look on Simon's face when his mouth dropped open!
Perfection is so rare & that moment was PERFECTION!
I remember watching it and I was sooo angry at the smirks and eye rolling of the audience and even the judges. I was so happy when she blew them away and I cried it was so beautiful.
This was my all-time favorite audition; the crowd was laughing at her and mocking her, she was such an underdog. I am sure she got that her entire life, but her voice was amazing, and she got the last laugh so to speak, even at her age. It is a true shame she was discovered so late in life. I also love your reaction! Thank you!
She has such power in her voice and such beautiful control and vibrato! A rare talent indeed.
Unfortunately Susan had a stroke approximately a year ago.
Susan was hospitalized straight after the final of BGT, where she was diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
Susan still stays in her childhood home.
Try listening to her singing live Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones.
Susan hasn't been seen much recently due to her stroke...
Susan played the local social pubs near me .
What an amazing singer Susan Boyle was at the audition ❤. It is so incredible listening to her. Well done Susan. She's a millionaire now!! ❤❤❤
Brings me to tears every time I see it. She is amazing. I love your reaction. I dreamed a Dream is from Les Miserables AKA Les Mis'
I love your reaction to Susan. You are so right, never judge a book by its cover.
You did not pick the wrong version! This is the vid that put Susan on the map. She was all over the news the next day, EVERYONE was talking about her! So glad to see your reaction, wish I could have that first awe again!
Her voice still, gives me the chills snd brings tears to my eyes.. the voice of an angel
Her rendition of “Cry Me a River “ is perfection. Also, “Wild Horses”. If you do “Wild Horses “ please do the studio version. In the video the song is cut shorter. Love that you appreciate talent.
Seriously ! First Time Seeing a Real Angel in Front of Me . She brings Tears to Me instantly .✨🙏✨💗✌️💗. BE(YOU)TIFUL !!!
I've never watched the show live, but only through youtube reactions. What a wonderful woman with a wonderful voice.
Beautiful reaction!❤ "I love this woman" is exactly how the world felt when we first saw this audition! The song also was exactly right for her & reflected her own story in a way! I would say she has the perfect Broadway (or Disney) voice. The song is from the Broadway musical "Les Miserable" which is set during the French revolution. Great reaction!❤
This song when she sings it always always makes me weep
I gave you a thumb's-up because you paid attention to details that a lot of reactors miss. Of your sort-of comparison to Dimash, I'll point out that Susan Boyle had no professional training; her skill and control are completely natural....a natural-born songstress. Very good analysis.
Lol. Yes, first you got the version of Simon and Terry looking back on that audition. FYI, the song is from a very well-known and beautiful Broadway musical., “Le Miserables”, often called Lay Miz.
This was such an incredible moment for various reasons. One of the best moments on TV for me.
Great, thanks for doing this reaction! It's been a while since I've seen a new Susan Boyle reaction - and she's just breathtaking! Thanks for going on to listen to the entire performance!
Sometimes watching this makes me cry. She was (is) so amazing ♥️
“ Life has killed the dream I dreamed” which was true for her before this. 😢
I saw her in an interview and the hostess asked if she felt like a champion, I think meaning a person who has gone to the top. But Susan took it in another direction. She said she is a person who champions people who were afraid that they couldn't succeed and she was there to show them they could. What a woman!
She didn’t even have to finish the show if she didn’t want to. Went to the Universe and back of royalty in a matter of this moment. She kinda couldn’t handle the fame but it was great to watch her!
A Privilege
She’s from near where I live in Scotland 🏴… mind blowing audition ❤
Glad you watched the original. Her duets with Elaine Page are fantastic.
They do one of my favorites from the musical "Chess".
You ought to hear Susan singing “Wild Horses”. Superb.
I love her ..always
I never tire of watching this! So pure, so authentic!!❤❤❤❤😂😅
She overcame a lot of obstacles in her life. It wasn't until after this audition that she found out that she had Asperger's Syndrome which was the cause of a lot of things in her life. She still lives in the house she grew up in, but she did remodel it. Her voice is just beautiful. She lives a relatively quiet life.
What''s also fun - she mentioned at her introduction that she wanted to be a singer like her idol Elaine Page, and people sort of snorted. Later in her career, she actually got to sing duets with Elaine Page. The song is from Les Miserables by Andrew Lloyd Weber.
This song is from the musical Les Miserables, Anne Hathaway sang it. And she also did a duet with her idol, Elaine Paige. Simon mentored her. You need to listen to the panel’s comments.
It is so great to revisit this wonderful story! She has such a beautiful voice and we finally listened to her. Inspiring.
I got a hug from her around a decade ago or so, when I did wardrobe for her show.
I appreciate your reaction throughout as well as your compassionate understanding of who she was as a human being ... I hope you have a really good day.
Its good to see people admire talented singers. There are so many genres to enjoy.
I’m with you! I always cheer on the underdogs. And that’s empathy.
She had a part in a sweet Christmas movie called "The Christmas Candle" in 2013. She sang in that movie. One of my favorite songs of hers is "The Miracle Hymm". Susan Boyle returned to BGT in 2023 and sang her song with the West End cast of Les Misérables. She performed with her idol, Elaine Page.
Great reaction and comments! Thank you - I need to dream a dream today as I'm sure so many others do too.❤🩹
She has a wonderful voice.
Her voice has a beautiful tone to it. Her performances after her audition were even much better. Her performance of the Rolling Stones song 'Wild Horses" is brilliant.
Have all of her albums. She appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine and had a a housetour televised after her great success. Hope she is doing well after her stroke and enjoying a well deserved rest reflecting on her wonderful story.
thx mmb for playin it - ms susan started it all - love it
For no discernible reason, "Mull of Kyntire" is my favorite by Susan. I's haunting.
Listen to her rendition of "Wild Horses." It's breathtaking.
Paul Potts was another audition very similar to Susan. No1 expected him to sing how he did. You should check his out.
Much love from Scotland💙🏴
PP came out with such a hangdog presentation, I don't think anybody expected the confidence - not to mention the purity - of his delivery.
@@LadyIarConnacht I think the only difference between him and Susan was that Susan did come across very confident. Where as, the thing I always remember about Paul’s audition was how self conscious he said he was, and he looked absolutely terrified before he started singing. His stood out more to me than Subo, because seemed like he really had to overcome a lot to push himself to do it. That alone had me routing for him before he even started singing lol
the Voice is wonderful, pure Music
Great reaction to an amazing woman.
Still living in Scotland in the village she came from. She could have lived anywhere ❤️
I loved your reaction. Watching the judges become humble (for a moment) was something you missed. Susan's spirit shone through as her amazing voice soared.
If you want to see a song that has a heart-warming back story check out the Halo theme covered by VoicePlay, an independent acapella group. The tribute that follows the song is an amazing affirmation of friendship and the power of music. It carries on the themes of the strength of the human spirit that Susan Boyle is one of the best examples of.
The song is from the Broadway musical Les Miserable
you should hear her sing Wild Horses i watched her sing on Americas got talent i believe she was also on Britain got talent
First: I recommend you listen to her cover of "wild horses" . It is an emotion inspiring rendition.. Second: As for incredible AGT auditions, I recommend, on your own, you listen to 9yr old Jackie Evancho first audition. Then with your "family" share the experience of a just about to turn 11yr old girl out sing Barbara Striesand in a mashup called "Somewhere" !
This was the most uplifting and unexpected BGT/AGT audition for me ever.
Yes, the song is from Les Miserables. A stage play in London, NY and all over the world for many, many years. They did make a musical movie starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and others but I fell in love with it, and this song, while watching the "Les Miserables 10th anniversary concert" (1995) on PBS---that's the one I'd watch if I wanted to get the overwhelming sense of this music. You said it all about Susan. Wow
The shock of being a sudden super star made her have a breakdown within months of this audition. Simon Cowell was a hero. he made sure she had all the help she needed
Props to you my Good Man. Play the full original performance.
Salute !!!
Her audition went viral and it went all iver rhe world. Her story and audition became a newsworth item. The pressure eventually got ro her and although tipped to win the final but was beaten into 2nd olace. A few months later she was surprised during ine of ger shows when the singer Elaine Page came in stage and they sing a duet, Susan was overcome with emotion as she had sung with her Idol.😴😴🙂↔️🙂↔️💝💝😺
I love how Simon had to eat his words. She is just a beautiful soul that came thru her singing.
If you want another _GT audition to check out…AGT - Sam Cieri/Nucotine Dolls
Susan is also on the spectrum diagnosed with Aspbergers why some of her mannerisms are a little off. She is a phenomenal singer and after AGT became a star in England selling out venues. She had a hard time with the pressure and stage fright anxiety. As another said a bit of a breakdown. But was able to get back on track with Simon's help and scaling back her tour. In 2022 she had a stroke, but is working back to health. She was able to sing on stage again, I Dream a Dream.
Bless her, I hope she’s ok and enjoying life ❤❤
The best part of her story, she sang this song with her idol Elaine Paige.
She didn’t sing this song with Elaine - this is a solo song. She sang I know Him So Well from Chess with her
She does the absolute best Xmas song do you hear what I hear her voice on that is so clear and haunting
Search what happened to her following the show. She became an international star, traveling the world to perform. People loved her talent but loved her spirit.
she was on the 2009 show......she has done wonderful!!!
You’re such a kind man ❤❤❤❤
She is why one should never give up on dreaming!!
Susan Boyle has an amazing and beautiful voice! The show was in 2009 I believe and I somehow missed it and didn't know anything about her until about 2016! LOL... thanks for another great reaction video!!
Always tear up hearing this.
She is Scottish and appeared on BGT ❤
Someone uploaded it again recently
Omg you have to listen to her version of The Rolling Stones song Wild Horses, its amazing.
Every judge voted her through.
And it really is worth watching their comments and votes.
She went on to actually sing with Elaine Page.
You showed me a version of the video I didn't know existed, And cared to watch the original. She did sing with Elaine Page.
Actually this was from Britain's Got Talent (not America's Got Talent). Her performance went viral on CZcams as soon as it aired in the UK. I remember watching it online back in 2009 on CZcams and being absolutely blown away. You really should go back and listen to the judges comments though!
She actually set the trend for big eyebrows
It’s from Musical “Le Miserables”
This was truly beautiful.
Susan Boyle was a biggest surprise of BGT, She was so awesome ❤️
