❤😊😊😊great list
@@mikesilva3868hell yea
The Dark and The Wicked has been at the top of my Shudder list for a while. If you don't like slow burns, you won't like it. But it played on my personal fears of supernatural evils that can't be seen.
Same!! I've been watching horror films for decades, so I'm not scared by them anymore, it's more about the enjoyment I get from them. But the Dark and the Wicked actually scared me. For the first time in years, a movie scared me. I love the Dark and the Wicked, and it will be in every top horror list for me from now on.
Not seeing the evil has me clutching my head in anticipation in some scenes. That poor father. The creepy entity using kids to deliver warnings and promises was so creepy. The brother who had to leave his sister pissed me off but again he was being pulled by the entity and OMG. Don’t want to spoil anything. Great questions asked for once in horror. Like um…….. how did she get up there on her own? Atmospheric horror done right could be as slow as a trickle and if done right instead of being bored it’s excruciating knowing without cheesy jump scares this one does it when your expecting it but thinking it’s too obvious so you let your guard down and then sensing the viewers new sense of relief a split second later something happens and your like holy sh*t !!! A+
“The Mortuary Collection” is one of my favorite anthologies besides the original Creepshow. Don’t sleep on it, it has a great soundtrack and dark and gruesome moments.
Yessss❤
It was a fun movie to watch
Rewatched Evil Dead 2013 last night, what a masterpiece 🖤
Some underrated/underseen Shudder Exclusives for me: Moloch - A supernatural, eerie story about dead folks in a peat bog. A Wounded Fawn - An absolute visual and artistic delight from Josh Ruben about a serial killer who makes a terrible mistake when his next victim isn't who she seems. And lastly, Caveat - A man is contracted to watch a young girl, but there's one hitch, she's on an island, and he must be connected to a chain to prevent him from getting to certain places in the house. This one still scares me!
Despite being a horror comedy, there was a few times Deadstream gave me a jumpscare, but it's definitely a fun watch & the twist was interesting as well.
Deadstream is sooo good
@@daanzinhacreepy I agree, but I can't get over how a horror comedy scared me a few times. 😅
Birth/Rebirth was so original, such powerful and unique characters, and the grief just made it so heavy, like it lived with you in the real world. Amazing film.
I'd love to shout out two films! First, the Frankenstein riff "The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster", and second, the splattery comedy of errors that is "Sissy". (Plus, dunno if it's everywhere, but here in the States? It's an Argento-palooza on Shudder! Loving it!)
Good choices! Sissy is a lot of fun TABGAHM was such a pleasant surprise. The actress was fantastic.
@@mattmccomas1Agreed, and agreed! I love it when a film that sounds good is even better than I'd hoped! 🤘🏾
@@mattmccomas1agreed!
Sissy is the most underrated gem of the 20s
@@jeffwalker6815 hear hear! Nobody seems to be talking about it, and that's a [RADIO EDIT] shame!
This is absolutely what I needed! Thank you!
This dropped exactly when i needed it. Nice little treat.
Speak No Evil was in my Top 10 of 2022 & am excited today to learn of the forthcoming USA version ! Thanks Emma.
Psycho Goreman, campy and I loved it.
It didn’t show as a original when I checked the list! I also love it
Love the list i totally agree with your top 10 and love being a part of your Twitch community. Congratulations on 10 years on YT. Here's to 10 more. 🎉🎉🎉
Birth/reBirth was so crazy. I loved.
I’m in the most extreme things I can find. Love it.
Speak no evil was great, should watch it again. The lines “why are you doing this?” “Because you let me, now get out of the car”
Okay this is pushing me to watch Birth / Rebirth now! Plus Deadstream and The Sadness 👍🏻 great list Em!
Yess Birth/Rebirth was great! You definitely need to watch 👌🏼
Great picks!! I loved Deadstream and Host! I thought Prevenge was so compelling and interesting. I really loved Scare Me on Shudder as well!
Scare me was great!
@@rtracy1216 Yay! Glad to hear- I feel like it doesn't get enough love!
I'd put Impetigore in the top ten for sure. One of the best horror movies of it's year.
I was lucky enough to see Birth/Rebirth and When Evil Lurks at the cinema last year and they are the 2 horror films that have stayed with me. I immediately went home after When Evil Lurks and streamed Terrified.
Love this list! Giving some love to "The Dark and the Wicked" because I'm a slow burn nut and I absolutely thought "Speak No Evil" was among the best. Prevenge, Terrified, Host and When Evil Lurks were great so I can't wait to hit up the rest of these! I like to get your stamp of approval because you've saved me lots of time and money through the years! How I appreciate you!
Great list!
I just can't believe it's been 10yrs. I discovered you only 5 yrs ago but you are my favorite.
Thank you!!!!
Just in case people don't know, Shudder is included if you subscribe to AMC+ you get IFC and Sundance included as well.
Love this list Emma and I love, love, love Shudder.
Ooh, good to know! I've been subscribed to Shudder, but I'd no idea AMC+ built it in! I'll check that out, thank you!
Interesting list, a few I need to catch up on. I would recommend Sissy as a gem from Shudder. That and Advent Calendar are my two faves probably.
Loved Advent Calender, definitely an underrated gem.
One is underrated movie : Dogs don't wear pants, deserves more exposures. Deserves a watch !
I absolutely love that movie. It has stuck with me since I watched it. Great suggestion!
Oh heck yes! Love Shudder
I’m always here for shudder recommendations! There’s so much content on there I’ve never heard of and I hate to pick something random and end up hating it.
Yeah it’s very hit and miss
Thanks for the list, Emma. One Cut Of The Dead was a big favorite for me.
I'm going to see Lisa Frankenstein tomorrow.
I absolutely love Shudder!
I love Revenge. It's up there with Becky for my go-to brutal revenge watch. I originally subscribed to Shudder to watch Sadness and Speak No Evil blew me away so I'm nervous there's to be a remake.😬 I really enjoyed Host too.
I love this list so much! 🙌🏾 Especially Birth/Rebirth is SO good and I agree the performances are incredible. One of my favorite Shudder originals is Sissy. It’s pretty intense and pretty vicious.
Sissy is a ride for sure 🦘
Great list. Deadstream and OCOTD are my personal favourites ♥
My favorite Shudder exclusives are Mandy and Mayhem -
- oh - wait - what?!
Nevermind, they're both on Tubi 😅
Anything for Jackson is my absolute favorite on Shudder
Love that film! It really doesn’t get enough mentions.
Great Video!!!! Kissing from Argentina
I almost bailed out of One Cut after 20 minutes. So glad I didn't! Love that movie.
Perfect thank you a lot! I only book Shudder from time to time as I need to use my VPN. It can be hard to know whats good, really good selection!
thx you
Birth/rebirth ruined me. It stuck with me for a long time. I think, like you said, that this movie got to me because of how brave it was in what it showed. Amazing!
I hope Shudder will become available in my country. There's so many good films there.
Is it weird if I wanna wish that the Speak No Evil remake will gonna "bomb" to just let the hollywood know that people dont really care about american remakes anymore.
I’m hoping it’ll be just as “good” and do just as “well” as the American remake of Martyrs. If that didn’t put an end to American “horror” remakes, nothing will.
Edit: So, yeah, to answer your question, No, it is not weird. I’m actively wishing the same thing.
Am I the only one that thought the original was not that good?
I'm hoping it fixes all the terrible parts of the original. 😂
@@mitchellbjerke5547 yes
Yes it’s weird.
Also, the original isn’t all that great.
One of my favorites I’ve seen lately is is Vicious Fun, Superhost too.
I had such a good time with Anna and the Apocalypse! I wasn't sure if it would be my thing but it's a really fun movie.
I love Revenge, Emma!!!!
My initial reaction to the term, "Horror Comedy" is one of revulsion & one second later later I remember that movies like Tucker & Dale, Housebound & Psycho Goreman exist & I have to walk it back.
I bought a year of Shudder in December do my sister and I could watch It's A Wonderful Knife. I was really hoping you'd post something like this
Birth/Rebirth was my #2 film for 2023. The implication of the last couple of beats utterly chilled me. But I absolutely loved how transgressive the two female leads were "allowed" to be in this.
Awesome list!! I LOOOOOVE Shudder. A few pics on my favorites from Shudder: Kuso (trippy, graphic, filthy, hilarious, beautiful); Mandy (this is right at the top-glorious filmmaking); Medium (fantastic Thai possession horror film); and The Color Out of Space (unquestionably fantastic cosmic horror). And Mad God is fucking mad brilliant!!!
Watch Host on your computer - even more effective that way!
My favorites on the list: Host, Speak No Evil, Revenge, Birth Rebirth. And I take note of: Prevenge, One cut of the dead, and Impetigore... An Indonesian film that I liked: Sewu Dino.
Good job Emma! 👏👏👏
Another fun list! I'm so intrigued by this remake of Speak No Evil... The French remake of One Cut of the Dead was.... Okay?
As a fellow Australian, I completely agree. Like, why is the Australian horror You'll Never Find Me released everywhere but here?! Thanks for the recommendations. Have you seen Glorious on Shudder? It's one of my favourite horror comedies on the platform!
Deadstream was such a surprise, I really liked it. The Sadness is one of the best horror movies I have seen recently.
Other Shudder Originals on my list of faves:
HELLBENDER
TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID
Saw Lisa Frankenstein and I really liked it. Very much in the vein of a 1980's dark romantic comedy. Hope you get a chance to see it soon.
just started the video but I had to say you look gorgeous today and I love your hair :) okay back to the video.
Saw Prevenge as it was doing the festival circuit and the director/star AND the then born ”evil” baby was with her during the q&a 😅
I really loved Revenge. It was so surreal it was psychedelic.
@spookyastronauts. Hi Spooky; On Imdb it says Lisa Frankenstein will be released on Feb 9th in Australia.
Yeah but it’s not happening unfortunately, they have no plans to release here
Great review 😊
Deadstream is remarkable, so is when evil lurks
Great list thanks 😊
Funny, I was just thinking in the last couple of days that it would be nice if you did list from Shudder. Maybe, a January baby thing 😃
LOVEDDDD Deadstream!!!!
I think everyone should watch the original slumber party massacre 1 & 2 as a double feature night while they're both on shudder.
A few on there I haven't seen yet and will have to check out.
I have a high tolerance for horror and gore usually, but one scene in The Sadness actually made me throw up. I'll never watch it again.
I have a film you might like. It’s not a Shudder horror film, but it’s really good. It’s a 2020 Thai horror film called “The Maid.” The 3rd act is unpredictable.
Not positive it counts especially since no one else mentioned it but Resurrection starring Rebecca Hall is one of my favorite horror movies of the decade so far.
I love it so much!!! I did a break down video because I couldn’t get it out of my head
@@spookyastronauts It’s definitely got a lot to digest. Great film with amazing performances. Especially Rebecca Hall.
ONE CUT OF THE DEAD is a movie that A: you cannot explain to anyone what it is without spoiling it and B: a movie that literally everyone likes after they watch it. It's just tricky to *get* people to watch it.
Emma, I'm curious about When Evil Lurks. You're thoughts?
I did a review on it!
@@spookyastronauts I'll check it out btw I just finished Birth/Rebirth holy moly! 😊
Revenge was cracking.
I still haven’t seen Birth/Rebirth
Great list. I saw birth/rebirth at MIFF last year and was impressed. A hill I'll die on is Satanic which is hampered by a goofy title and even goofier cover art. It's a sober take on true crime tourism and satanism both affected and "real." From recent additions to Shudder: The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster, V/H/S 85, anything by Benson and Morehead, and Howl. That'll do for now. Enjoy
I got 7/10, which seems good for me at least. Some others I'd recommend include A Wounded Fawn, All the Moons, Starry Eyes, Anything for Jackson, Blood Relatives, and Dead & Beautiful (I like vampires). I keep meaning to watch the French remake of One Cut, but it's probably a trap.
Superhost is epic on shudder 😊
Great idea for video, thanks!
Influencer and Carmichael Manor
I've tried to get through The Sadness twice now (a few months apart) and I just can't lol I love horror, I love zombie/rage type films...I know 100% that it's fake, but THIS film just gets to me in a way no other film has, and I seen a lot of horror over the years. I'm about 1/2 way, where the guy is on the scooter in the hills/countryside. I think that where I'll leave things for a while. BUT I want to know what happens to the girl and I "hope" they make it out together. But I have a feeling things are actually going to go the opposite and get much worse before the end...😳☹
Tigers Are Not Afraid
Gwen. And I’ll die on that hill.
Emma it’s like you read my mind… I searched Reddit for shudder recs last night 😂
Haha what wild!
I've seen all of thses films accept for your bottom two probably because they are the most recent.
I almost DNF'd 'One Cut of the Dead' because i couldn't figure out why people liked it. And then "that" moment happened, and I got it. 😂
Is "Speak no Evil" in English?
Great list. My current personal faves on Shudder are Impetigore, Host, One Cut of the Dead, When Evil Lurks and The Sadness.
Don’t worry about that movie, basically a rip off of warm bodies, but he doesn’t talk and he murders for body parts
OK. My friend recommended One Cut of the Dead back in 2020.... I guess I should finally check it out 🤣
Do it.
Do it! Do it! Do it!
Watcher
Speak no evil is so good, but i never want to see that movie or feel what i felt watching it, again.
Oh-man! I recognize the Creepy granny from The Sadness, anywhere! 😱🤘🏾💯
Here number one was my number one horror film of 2023! Go. Stream it. Immediately!!
Deadstream and One cut are the best
👺👺👺
The furies and sissy shocked and disgusted me with their over the top gore. If you like action packed gore fests and haven’t seen the furies check it out on shudder. I don’t like too much gore so I hate loved it.
I felt asleep while watching “Mad God”, found it very boring. But Guillermo Del Toro’s “Pinocchio” is fantastically well made stop animation film, throughly enjoyed it.
I loved Pinocchio too! But it’s not shudder
For me personally Speak no Evil was an incredibly harrowing watch,it stayed with me for a long time afterwards.
P R O M O S M 🤩
Mad God is similar to Frank and Zed
What the hell... Birth/Rebirth is severely OVERRATED! It's not disturbing, it's booooooring beyond belief, lmao.
It’s not rated very high at all so I don’t think it can be considered over rated
I respect Mad God but I hated it so much watching it :(
Yay I haven’t seen The Sadness yet (is yay this right term for a bloody movie? Lol) thanks for the list!
