    ☆ ABOUT ME ☆
I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. When I reached 50, I set out my own and created a business selling on Amazon using their FBA program. Great fun, but neither career left much time for healthy living.
I turned 60 last year (2023). I found myself 110 pounds overweight and seriously out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with sky-high cholesterol, and unable to walk for more than 20 minutes without resting.
I decided to make some major changes. I shut down my Amazon business and started living frugally. Health is more important than money, especially as we grow older. In August 2023 I started the carnivore diet and lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
Now I’m hooked! I can walk for miles without a rest now. My cholesterol is within normal levels as is my blood pressure. I am no longer pre-diabetic, and I feel 30 years younger!
After experiencing the benefits, I’ve become passionate about sharing my story to help others.

You’re the reason why I started this diet 3 months ago when I was 27 pounds heavier! Keep making content. You’re a true inspiration!

I‘m sick of making excuses for what I eat. But I usually say „look, I have allergies to certain foods“ 🙄

So I've tried the last 2 yrs to be carnivore. I live with 4 adult family members. Believe me, it's been a struggle. They eat all the junk I used to indulge in. I need to stick to it for my health, but it's very hard when your husband brings home all your favorite foods just telling you it's there if you decide to have some.

Yeah, and they think they’re being nice when they do that, too.

That’s tough. Carnivore is often a solitary path, even when you live with other people.

I do live alone and when I have guests they are usually family members who have to travel to come to my place, so they stay for overnight or more. Then I feel I must feed them "normal" foods and so then I get tempted to eat with them whatever they have. As a carb addict, this really can send me into a downward spiral of eating more carbs. Then I am upset with myself and always I gain weight so this has been a problem for me keeping to the Carnivore strictly. I am still overweight and more determined than ever to get this right and be very strict Carnivore. I do not have any support for this way of eating all my friends and family do everything possible to get me to eat carbs. Thanks for your video Jay.

I hate to be rigid about things. It goes against all my instincts about how to live life. But with carbs I’m realizing that it’s just the way I have to be. The alternative - moderation - just doesn’t work for me. The good thing is, when I haven’t had carbs for a few days I don’t miss them at all. I have to remember that the next time I go out for dinner. Good luck with your efforts!

I don't think of this lifestyle as restrictive. It's freeing. I'm freed from all the confusion about what I should eat. I do have some issues with trying to decide what kind of meat I want to eat. My wife is not in anyway carnivore, keto or anything. I do make extra meat for her and make sure she gets a good portion of fat and meat whenever I make food for myself. Recently her Dr took her off of two of her heart meds. But the house it chock full of all kinds of junk food. I just ignore it. I do the same thing with cigarettes. I've never lost the craving for them, but after 25 years without them, I just have found a way to live with the craving. It's the same with junk food and sweets.

I think you’re right that it’s liberating. The problems come when we slip and start to feel cravings. Then it feels restrictive. I think I’ll make a video about this in the next couple days, as it’s important. Thanks for the thought-provoking comment.

I am married, but I have a very fortunate situation. When I started the carnivore diet, I knew that I would be eating fish. My wife despises the smell of fish, so to help her out, I cook, eat, and sleep downstairs. I go upstairs to spend time with my wife and son, throughout the day, but when it comes to eating, I go downstairs. I sleep downstairs because I live in a hot part of Australia and my Air conditioner works way better downstairs. So I sleep downstairs so I can stay cool in the horrid heat. I usually spend a few hours in the morning with my wife and son, and the rest of my day downstairs creating videos for my two CZcams channels. I know that I am in a unique position, but later this month, I will be going away for a family birthday celebration, and I know that my family won't appreciate my diet, so I plan on having a small piece of cake so I don't disappoint my family. But the rest of the time I will be a carnivore. I will eat meat snacks on the 6.5 hour drive. and I will eat them on the way back to keep alert during the drive. I can only imagine how hard it is for other people who live with people who want to sabotage their efforts.

Hi Jay. I started Carnivor way of eating 55 days ago. Going well and strong. At home my adult son has Crohn's so he cooks very simple foods for himself. I look after my foods. I have a lovely man in my life I visit each fortnight. But I pack my precooked foods to share or sometimes he buys pork chops for us. He cooks veggies for himself and I cook eggs. We eat out at times and I find it a bit challenging adapting a set menu but all good overall. Going strong, losing weight, feeling good. No regrets.

I’m fortunate. My only relative in town is my daughter and her family and they totally respect my eating choices. No one else is interested and I don’t advertise it. The only ones that don’t respect it are my dogs and cat. They think everything I cook is for them 😂😂. But I don’t think it would be easy at all living with others who think it’s all a joke. Yes I’m an introvert too.

I’ve found it most difficult to stick to the diet when eating out. Food at restaurants has gotten very expensive and although I’m disciplined enough to avoid carbs and starches it’s hard for me to not eat the vegetables or salad. I also find the portions of proteins are usually too small.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 2 měsíci +1

I agree, restaurants are tough. More and more I try to make sure I have a way to cook when I travel.

I am, tentatively, on the carnivore diet, but it is so hard. I have health issues that prevent me from doing a job to the standards of employers, so I work for my family as a cleaner/cook. I earn no money, but my family share their house and food with me. The head of the household is very strict with what is to be eaten, and works with a limited budget, so the family diet contains very little proteine with a lot of carbs, veggies and fruit. The only way for me to do carnivore is to eat once a day, and to eat either a chicken breast, a portion of beef mince, or two boiled eggs; once every 24 hours. That is it. I eat exactly as the rest of the family minus carbs, etc. This is not so hard. What is hard is that I must prepare their meals...and they worry about me, always asking, "And what are you going to eat?" My answer never satisfies them. So I can relate to the content of this video. Alone, it would have been easy, but cooking for an omnivore family? Boy! It's hard! Wish me luck. I need it. ❤

I live alone. Where I have issues is wihen I am at my mom’s place as she believes in salads and vegetables and cheese and bread. The other place is at work - colleagues bring sweets to work and sometimes even brings them around to everyone else, so they don’t have to eat them at home themselves or their family.

I bring my own food when I visit my dad for a meal. Never a problem. It’s when I have visitors that I seem to run into temptation! It would have been hard to visit my mother and not eat her food, so I empathize.
