    ☆ ABOUT ME ☆
    I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. When I reached 50, I set out my own and created a business selling on Amazon using their FBA program. Great fun, but neither career left much time for healthy living.
    I turned 60 last year (2023). I found myself 110 pounds overweight and seriously out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with sky-high cholesterol, and unable to walk for more than 20 minutes without resting.
    I decided to make some major changes. I shut down my Amazon business and started living frugally. Health is more important than money, especially as we grow older. In August 2023 I started the carnivore diet and lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
    Now I’m hooked! I can walk for miles without a rest now. My cholesterol is within normal levels as is my blood pressure. I am no longer pre-diabetic, and I feel 30 years younger!
    After experiencing the benefits, I’ve become passionate about sharing my story to help others.

    Your sharing about your experience is very helpful and appreciated. Also in my 60's and good results from my medical check-up, I feel aches and pains that are surely from inflammation and surplus body weight. In January, I tried all plant-based eating. At the end of the third week, I felt worse than I did during the holidays. Many years ago, I did intermittent fasting for a few months and lost a lot of weight. Problem was that I returned to my old eating habits (carbs! and lots of them!). I am considering taking your suggestion and trying this for one month. Your meals and their timing make a lot of sense to me. Congratulations on your success and thank you for this video.

      The carbs are a slippery slope for sure. If you can, stay with it for 3 months; month 3 was when I saw the biggest improvements start.

    I just watched a couple of your videos and really enjoyed your story telling. Your results give me hope. I don’t know if you have heard that Kerry from homestead how is filming a documentary on carnivores and their results, your story is very interesting. He’s having everyday people and Dr Berry, Dr Chafee and others included in it. Keep enjoying this way of eating that it leads me to better health too.

    Bone broth homemade the best but boxed will do. Need electrolytes and bone broth will ward off the headaches. Homemade has collagen also and glucosamine its a superfood or drink lol. But something to sip on also, stay hydrated.

      It’s true, bone broth is a good thing to add to the carnivore diet. I drink it when I don’t feel well.

      @@Jaylwoodworthyes i need to try carnivore for a month and see if i can do it. I will make broth with a whole organic chicken, spring water and some organic bouillon to taste. Just cover chicken with water....bring chicken to a boil, skim off the foam, simmer for a good hour, remove the chicken, remove meat which is absolutely delicious to snack on, put bones back in you pot or crock pot with the broth and simmer or slow cook bones for a good 12 hours. Strain, cool, store in fridge for up to three days or freeze broth in freezer bags to grab when needed. Im a trained chef thats a bit too chunky now 58 years old right behind you. Thanks for the encouragement!

    Going into my 3rd week now but honestly have not been as strict as I should . I'm eating too much cheese and dairy I think and still drinking sugar free drinks. Nonetheless, still down 6 lbs :) and my leg muscle cramps during the night have stopped.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I’d stop with the sugar free drinks when you can. Best to leave that addiction behind. Dairy’s ok, but remember that many dairy products have carbohydrates. I love plain yogurt / kefir, but a cup of it has like 20 carbs. A couple servings a day could throw you out of ketosis. Hard cheeses are best.

      @@Jaylwoodworth i think you are doing raw milk now. the carnivore journey changes along the way and everyone is different. i guess i'm in the ketovore phase now but i still have diet drinks now and then and decaf coffee too. i do notice that sometimes i enjoy grassfed burgers and bacon and fatty meats and sometimes they kind of are a turn off. then i will buy leaner meats until i crave the fatty stuff again. i saw some vids on not needing tons of fat doing carnivore if you are obese (100 pounds over for me). some say you have to eat fat to lose fat but other say if you have a ton of fat on your body, you are getting plenty of fat eating leaner carnivore.

      Rarely, as it often contains some sugar. I prefer pork belly or pork loin.

      Mini meatballs, meatloaf, ground beef

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci

      I’m pretty boring w my ground beef. I usually break it up and stir it around in the frying pan with a bit of salt.

      @@Jaylwoodworthyes maybe mix with sausage, an egg or two and crushed pork rinds some seasoning of course garlic salt, are fresh or dried herbs allowed? If so, Italian seasoning, garlic powder. Roll into meatballs and bake at 350 degrees until browned. Could throw some mini ones in broth and make a delicious soup also.

    • @farmtoplate123
      @farmtoplate123 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Parm cheese good as a binder also instead of pork rinds in those meatballs.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci

      Garlic, herbs and spices aren't strictly carnivore, so best to avoid them during the hardcore part of the diet. I'll try incorporating them once I hit the six-month mark, and see how I feel. But for now, just meat, salt and water. Oh, and of course coffee. That's the one cheat that I allow myself on this diet. The sausage and pork rinds are a great idea!

    I personally don't like all this talk about intermittent fasting, I think the best thing is to just eat when you're hungry and don't eat when you're not. Best to drink a glass of water and if you're still hungry in 30 minutes, then eat.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci +2

      It helped me because it set a window where I eat, and kept me from snacking outside that window, hence eating less. Ad far as whether it does anything metabolically, I don’t know.

      You are definitely entitled to your opinion. The thing is…if you are eating healthy fats…you will be surprised to find you really aren’t hungry. We eat so much out of habit.
      But do whatever works for you.
