Refinery29 My husband was murdered by a random meth head who was walking down the same street that he was. If my husband had had a gun that night he would’ve survived. I carry a gun every time I leave the house. Unfortunately, our cities and states have proved that they cannot handle this drug epidemic that is causing people to lose their minds and attack people for no reason. I will protect myself and my family.

@Irina Ivanova ONLY ONE made the Word flesh - GOD did, when He came to earth as the child Emmanuel, as the Lord Jesus Christ! Could be why, "No one EVER does this". NO MAN can! God already did! People CANNOT do this! She was just trying to "sound Spiritual" but she only sounds like she doesn't know the Bible.
I've watched 3 of these videos because of the title. (State of Grace) and find it is *the furthest thing* from TRUE Christianity I have ever seen - or close to it. This video is more like, "How can we take away America's 2nd Amendment rights"? Instead of trying to solve the problems of why people choose to hurt one another senselessly with those weapons - which more than 99% of the time, are obtained illegally. Instead, it calls those who support the 2nd Amendment as, "Having a love affair with guns". Nope, wrong answer. I may not agree with it, or even like the things (I don't) but I support American's rights to own them as I support the Constitution 100%. I notice these videos think this is some form of someone's religion?.... I won't say Christianity, (as I thought) as it is not TRUE Christianity. Especially when I saw there's a video up to play next that's about some "Scary reality to get an abortion in Missouri" . God Commanded, "Thou shalt NOT murder" and yes, that includes the unborn. So much for my finding something new to watch that I THOUGHT was Christian but is so anti-Christ I sadly must ask myself, WHAT was I thinking? I hope these people here ACTUALLY seek the TRUE Lord Jesus Christ, as this so sadly is NOT Him at all!

I literally spend my days waiting for the next episode of State of Grace. It is by far the best thing on CZcams. Grace is without question the best of the best at what she does and I love watching her interact with every person she interviews. Her genuine compassion and faith translate in every interaction she has with every person and she has this special intrinsic talent to make people feel seen and heard. The episode dealing with abortion and faith was life changing for me. LIFE. CHANGING. I saved that video and know the time stamp of the 3 minute section in which I heard what I've needed to hear for over 2 decades, leaving me with tears streaming down my face and feeling a supernatural, holy love I've not felt for awhile. My only complaint is I wish these were SO MUCH LONGER because when the 15 or so minutes are up I'm like "nooooooooooo Grace, don't gooooooooooo!!!!!" 🤣

Irina Ivanova At the least, it is something that someone says that they think will console you, they aren’t being rude or mean and it’s meant in good spirit. It should be coupled with actions of course

    • @jehovahschild4319
      @jehovahschild4319 Před 3 lety +2

@Irina Ivanova God actually created us. So when you talk about physically helping someone, you have to understand that for someone to physically help someone, they have to be acting under the ability of what God can do through them. We are not alone. You should study the Holy Spirit in the Bible. We cannot do anything good except by God. He is our helper and our confidante. When we speak to God through Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit, he works in wonderous ways because he loves to hear speak to him and have faith in him. He loves it when his children ask for help and believe in him. But you have to understand, that people are not created of themselves. So when a person physically helps you out, it is literally from the power of God. We are sinners by nature and all fall short of the glory of God. But we must never assume that we have the power ourselves. It only comes from God.

there were alot of gems dropped in this video -
01:39 - school closures, inadequate funding of public works = higher rates of gun violence persists. *research told us the correlation between economically depressed areas and violence
02:44 - gun buyback program wrapped around the corner since it opened. *this isnt effective in reducing violence, but it does offer financial relief to sellers (even tho the guns are significantly undervalued)
06:18 - trauma: churches need to be more trauma informed
08:10 - you need permission to know you have value. most communities have safeguards and space that allows youth to actualize and be individuals
11:50 - 15 and 16 yo. need job/life skills. by providing resources, communities can change
these highlights really touch on the complexities of issues surrounding poverty. we have to remember, prison is a financially lucrative industry. funerals as well. knowing Chicago's history with racism (oh and baby, it is thick), we continue to see and experience the institutional effects of racist policies. if we want to end violence.... if we REALLY want to end violence, the themes above tell u how. trauma training and mental health support are paramount. then economic opportunities. the school closures all but seal any opportunity to end the cycle of violence but we dont talk about that and how economic inequality and violence is interrelated.
thank you for not making this about "sensible" gun reform. the issue with violence is SO much deeper than who can own or have access to a gun.

Because faith without action, and works, is dead. I believe in the power of prayer, but then you got to get up from your knees and make the word flesh. Social justice is the DNA of the bible, and of Jesus. His ministry was all outside the church. Where did we lose that? A lot of times I see churches that have great mission stuff overseas, but not right outside the front door. In my mind, the most revolutionary person that ever lived was Jesus Christ. He challenged the government and his harshest criticism was for the church. He called them hypocrites and vipers. If we’re not willing to be the lobbyists for the poor, the disenfranchised, the forgotten, the alienated. If we’re not willing to be that, then shut down your church, your mosque, your synagogue. Either we live this gospel, or we should stop preaching it. -Father Pfleger (thought everyone needed to read this once in their life)

I live in Northeast Texas, and unfortunately lots of people here are anti-left, traditionalist, and pro-gun. They don't know what it's like to have gun violence directly impact them, or what it's like to live in a community where your life is threatened on a daily basis. They aren't typically willing to look outside of their own experiences, or empathize with the hundreds of thousands of people who have lost loved ones to this problem.
It's nice to see, for once, that there are still people who want to spread the word about this subject and aren't afraid to stand for change.

I came across this because I was looking for the Refinery 29 episode on children mining for mica and then I found this series. 💜💜💜. This was an excellent episode. As a woman in recovery we often say that faith without works is dead. I need to meditate and pray but then I need to take the next indicated step. God isn’t going to do it for me.

I'm wondering if it's deliberate. The idea of 'redemption' in the Christian tradition runs a lot deeper than the decision to become a Christian. It's about taking something that has been broken, damaged, defiled etc and giving it beauty, meaning, and hope. So in a place like Chicago taking the idea of chalk outlines drawn in white around the dead as they lie on the ground and putting them on the wall, in colour, in forms that suggest movement and life and joy is potentially a powerful symbol of the work they are doing to redeem the situation in these communities.

Wow, I keep crying during these videos because they make me remember how much I wanted to be part of a church that really represents Jesus as a kid but then all we had in my country was the calcified, empty ritual that most Catholic priests represent. Atheist now but still love Jesus...

  • @kimberlycolors7807

I've struggled with a lot of the topics in this series for years, without much backing from the church. In the churches I've been to, a lot of these topics are dismissed or aren't talked about at all. It's disturbing since so much conflict can stem from these subjects, both in and outside of Christianity. People shouldn't feel the need to suffer alone for fear of neglect or outrage should they speak up on their personal conflicts- especially in a belief system that is based on love, understanding, and generosity. Jesus was all about being there for those who were outcasts- for those neglected by everyone else, including the church. He wasn't afraid of questions, and didn't blow up when people made counter-arguments. He was patient and understanding. God gave us our brains to think critically- he's not afraid of uncertainty, but rather, uncertainty can lead us to find answers and resolutions, and can help grow our faith so it was stronger than before.
I'm a bit sad because I feel a lot of Christian organizations and churches wouldn't have allowed this series to have happened in the first place, even though this show has helped me in aspects of my faith where much of the church has failed me- not because this series is outside of Christianity, but because it explores it in ways that I've rarely seen before.
This show has really helped me so much with my own faith, not only because of the biblical support behind these videos, but also just knowing that there are other Christians out there who have the same questions and who have the same beliefs that I do! Thank you so much- this series really is life-changing. I feel a lot less alone in my faith.

“Social justice was the DNA of the Bible and Jesus.” Boy was that, absolutely powerful, what a phenomenal priest, I admire his strength and words. I certainly believe that Jesus is one of the most revolutionary men... 💛🙏🏾🕊 I’m like six episodes in and really liking this series, I’ve also “subscribed” now to this channel. Grace is pretty amazing, ❤️👏🏽🏳️‍🌈 I’m glad this episode also shed light on “The March Of Our Lives” a protest like never forget and am continuously grateful for that experience and I’m glad that I had an opportunity to be apart of it. This Nation has a serous problem when it comes to guns... 😐💔

How horrible is it that the ad that I got prior to the video was an ad for concealed carry and reciprocity among states? I've never understood why as a nation we just tolerate the unreal number of mass shootings and gun violence in general and never even try to legislatively attempt to fix the problem. It's a problem that's unique to us, and the common denominator in all of it is easy access to guns. Chicago does have strict gun laws, but it really doesn't do much good when Indiana has lax gun laws and is only a short distance away. There is bipartisan legislation passed by the house regarding universal background checks and red flag laws that has just been sitting on McConnell's desk. He refuses to bring any legislation passed by the democratically controlled house to the senate floor. I really don't care about someone's perceived "right" to own a gun. If stricter gun laws saved even ONE life, then it would be worth it. Until we get the NRA out of the pockets of our representatives, nothing will ever change. If we didn't do anything after 20 six year olds were gunned down at Sandy Hook, then I'm not sure the body count will ever be high enough to act.
