何?
How much did you pay for these games guys??
I don't post comments much, but I have to say I've been waiting for this episode for a long time. Lost Vikings for the Genesis is one of my favorite games of all time, and yet everyone ignores it. The most people will go into is the first level, hear that one song, and declare the SNES version superior. Finally the records have been set straight. I feel vindicated. Great episode, very entertaining, and very much appreciated. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@Benjamin Jagun are u cerious man snes farting instrument snes is console just for babies
I'm sorry, I thought it was just another regular platformer 😭 I didn't know it was a PUZZLE platformer. I LOVE that genre. Daiku no Gen-san (GBC), Donkey Kong '94, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Noobow, Pizza Tower, the Wario Land series, you name it! I love them all! I'll correct this mistake and put that game as a high priority on my gaming bucket list.
In Dan's defense, this game looks JUST like Homeward Bound.
Exactly!
Homeward bound could work as a game.
This game IS Homeward Bound.
@@ConsoleWars Yeah, Homeward Bound, but it involves Vikings, and traveling through time and space.
Angry Joe: Our reviews are so laborious it takes weeks to do em.
Console Wars: WTF
Minnesota Vikings, I got the accent joke, Pat
"They mostly live in Minnesota!" - Ash Ketchum
On the 3 player part, for one moment I thought Greg was going to jump in the couch and finish the episode with both of you.
Hope he's fine
That would've been cool. I'll remember that for future episodes.
@@ConsoleWars I know that is asking too much but an special episode (or something like that) of the next gen with Sega Saturn, Playstation and N64 with the three of you guys, would be awesome too. There are games released for the three consoles (Mortal kombat trilogy, for example).
I could imagine it going like:
Greg: I found you faker
Pat: Faker? I think you're the fake Nintendo around here.
Dan: *Does smug smile at both Nintendos referencing a Sega game*
Greg and Pat: "STOP THAT!" *Points at Dan*
Is Greg sick? I thought he just left.
@@batfan1939 Greg is battling his way through depression, I really hope he's doing good
Huh. I never knew the Sega version had extra levels and three players. That's rad. All this time I just assumed the SNES version was better because Silicone Synapse games usually just worked out that way.
"The more you know."
@@inceptional Half? Please. I and everyone else I knew had 6-button controllers for their Genesis. It's just not a valid argument. It's like complaining that you need an analog controller for a PS1 game. That became the new standard for that system so everybody that wanted to keep playing new games got one. If you had a Genesis and no 6-button controller, you couldn't even do what Nintendid, let alone what Nintendidn't.
@@inceptional first of all, only 31 million Genesis units were ever sold, and 19 million of those were the Genesis 2 that shipped with the 6-button controller. And that doesn't even include secondary sales of the controller alone. Don't come at me with a novel full of mistakes. Your guarantee means nothing, and it's a bare fact that more people had a 6-button controller than did not.
@@inceptional Stop with your wrong numbers. I don't care what your sources are, they are wrong and so are you. I prefer SNES, and always have, so I'm no fanboy. But it's a fact that more than half of Sega Genesis owners had 6-button controllers. My personal experience is unrelated, because the facts are there for anyone to find. Quit crying about all the work you put into being wrong, and stop wasting your time. You are arguing from a false premise with bad data and multiple wrong assumptions full of what you think is likely. You're just wrong, get over it.
@@inceptional Read my last one again, because you really aren't getting it.
You touch also the little country of France ! I'm french from the town of Compiègne and I'm in love with all of yours vidéo of comparison ! Thanks for your work and it's now worldwide ! Best regards
Thanks for watching France!
As I can see I wasn't the only one

Tres bien, vive Canada!
Hagane (SNES) vs Shinobi 3 (Genesis)
That doesn't influence when deciding which game is better. I think that Hagane it's a better game, but it's tough as hell.
I actually think Hagane has much more in common with Strider than Shinobi
Hagane is a little more like strider than Shinobi 3. They are still somewhat similar. The graphics Hagane might get a slight edge, though presentation, sound, and gameplay Shinobi 3 would mop the floor with Hagane.
Shinobi 3 by far.
Yea, good luck to Dan trying to acquire a copy of Hagane for it, it’s notoriously one of the most expensive SNES games to buy!
LETS GO!!! So happy to see y’all finally doing this game!! 😄
Update: You’re welcome Console Wars for the recommendation and thanks for adding me to the ending, I’m feeling like a kid on Christmas right now for being there. 😃
Thanks for the suggestion. Hope you enjoyed it!
Console Wars I surely did, I grew up on the SNES version but have em both now and I have to agree I enjoy the Genesis version more now..
I'm going to guess the next part is Daze Before Christmas.
That was my guess also
That's a good to review around Christmas
Yes please
Quick turnaround! Can't wait for the Christmas ep!
I was so hype for this episode especially in the music part. I love this series's music.
I only found you guys like a month ago, I have been Bing watching. Love it great work
LOL 9:52. My dogs started barking when they heard that sound
I love that Overwatch has a spot in Blizzard World called "The Lost And Found Vikings" with the characters displayed above the entrance door
Is Blizzard World in SFM?
@@robbiewalker2831 I wouldn't know
Always happy to see more episodes from you guys :)
As a child, one Christmas, I asked for a certain game for Sssseeeega Ggggenesis, but was surprised to see I got "The Lost Vikings" instead. I read the back of the box, saw the screens and was immediately intrigued. I love the game and its style back then, and I'd probably pick it up again today. Beating the game was a challenge since the last few levels are wild, but man did it ever feel rewarding. Years later, I played Lost Vikings 2 on via emulation, and enjoyed that games as well. Here's hoping we'll get an official Lost Vikings 3 via indie devs in the years to come. Awesome episode, guys~
Another amazing episode! Both the analisis of the differences between games and the humor are great as always
Thanks!
I’ve been a fan of this channel for a while now. Just wanna say that y’all are still killing it after all these years. Great job at picking games that I haven’t thought of in a long time, and I’m 40 years old. Keep up the good work!
Did I say 40? I meant 140.
thanks for the episode, I've been expecting the review for the long time. I suggest Phantom 2040 for some of the next videos
Amazing episode, I always learn so much about the games I love and am extremely entertained. Great job guys!
What retro rick comment got no likes. And no answers. Let's fix that 🙈👍
I remember seeing this at the video store, never got to play it. Looks great to this day, old school RULES.
I’d love the way Pat says “Yeah!”
Keep doing your thing Dan. These videos always brighten my day.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That intro never gets old. Also dan You must be a difference between Lost vikings ll and his ports.
I truly love this channel been a fan since 2013 seen every single video keep up the good job console's war guys !!!!!
Thanks for sticking with us!
@@ConsoleWars thank you so much .... keep up the good job y'all
Amazing review on a game that even I never heard of. Great job showcasing the differences between the two games. Keep putting up the great work.
Thanks!
Lost Vikings is great. One of Blizzard's first games.
New upload from my favorite comparison channel, I am very exited.
I'm able to play both versions of "The Lost Vikings", though the Sega Genesis version that I've played is actually one of the games that was included as part of my 196-in-1 game cartridge that I had bought over a year ago on Amazon, but at least it allows me to play the game on the original hardware. :)
I think both systems are great. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses. good video.
Couldn't agree more. Grew up with Nintendo but always found myself playing w/ friends on their Sega because of this. Now, luckily I owe both. Cheers, mate.
This channel deserves to be bigger. another great video gents
"We can jump." The greatest hero arc!
A tale for the ages. XD
I only just heard of this game, had no idea they were in Heroes of the Storm OR that this game got a GBA version. And dang, you guys once again educated me solidly, thanks for showcasing a really unique classic game.
I think this might be the first game that you've covered that I haven't heard of! Thanks for calling my attention to it! Also, great video, as always!
You guys put way too much work in these episodes, love it.
when I heard "tracks" I realized how I really love you guys
11:14 this classic video game music is love (also on the Mega Drive/Genesis version) but the Sega exclusive tracks 11:33 are next level. I’m playing the switch version Blizzard Arcade Classics and it has both and also a ‘definitive edition’ which ‘combines the best of both versions’.
Just saw the announcement of the new episode on Instagram, couldnt resist watching it instantly.
A day with Console Wars video is always a good day. Thanks for the episode, dudes. :D
I love pats face of disgusted at 10:15. Amazing episode guys keep up the great work
You'd look like that too if a Viking used your Boba Fett helmet as a toilet.
I hadn't heard of Daze Before Christmas until now. In any event Vikes was a nice episode. Valid points and fun joking throughout
Glad you enjoyed it!
Being that i've grown up with the Super Nintendo and i would always gravitate towards the version on that system. However with Sega being the system with the least amount of blinky lights in my opinion already then i gave it the win for being the most accessible for people like me with epilepsy.
So glad you guys did this one this is one of my favorite games!
I'm actually really excited to see if you guys do a best of or worst of for Daze Before Christmas, because it's surprising one of my favorite games on both systems for some reason...
Thanks guys I've been recommending this one for a long time, and waiting a long time.
Glad to see you guys still going strong. Kudos.
Ok...the first homeward bound reference made me smile...but the second made me literally LOL. That poor boba fett helmet! I like how one of the vikings impersonations was really just the SNL DA BEARS voice hahaha, gotta say these games are near identical but I agree that Matt Furniss' OST is far superior. Well done, guys!
You just gotta jump! Shield or no shield. lol. Loved the homeward bound movie reference. And it’s just another crazy day in Console Wars-a couple of Lost Vikings with some cool props show up! I give “props” to you guys for doing awesome work!
I can't get over Pat's sideburns. Those things are MASSIVE.
Great!
another console wars! i love these!
Pat is getting better and better ... nice job guys
Fantastic vid as always guys. Proud to see my fave version get the win!
Well done, guys! Another awesome video like always! Merry Christmas to you!
I always enjoy your costume choices.Guys. also thanks for mentioning the number of levels I was never able to finish the game so I was curious. I knew you guys would do well with this game.
I was just thinking about this game couple nights ago! You guys read my mind.
Put these on DVD !!!
You should do these videos:
Dragon the Bruce Lee Story
Judge Dredd
Great episode guys, never actually heard of this game, might need to check it out if I ever see it for sell
I died at the reveal of what the weird bucket was and the reactions to it.
Why yall not 1mill subscribers yet? Great channel with good content👍
Best channel ever. Thank you guys!!!
Thank you!
Great video guys. Very entertaining seen every one
Another great episode !
Your guys production level, has become much better ( i wanted to say Gotten But i felt it wrong for some reason ) very good points and i always thought SNES Lost vikings was the Ultimate version,, "soundtrack" but the other levels is a good push point, i owned both Snes and sega, as a kid, you do a good job for a lot of the comparisons., (still mad about shadow run you got that battle all wrong) but you guys no nothing about the RPG so all is forgiven.
your new co host is like if history was changed and Bon Scott, Replaced Brain Johnson two duel control thumbs up.
Ps. any way we could get a video with all three of you working together for one video, ,..... maybe. i mean it would please the fans ten fold, maybe play the sega genesis, and sonic mods they made for competing consoles, so supier mario on sega and sonic on snes
I always assumed Baleog and Olaf can't jump for the same reason they can't move fast.
Eric: "Can't you guys walk any faster?"
Olaf: "I'd like to see you lug this shield around for awhile."
Baleog: "Yeah, or a broadsword and a lifetime supply of arrows."
Olaf: "We'll see how fast you walk."
Eric: "Uh oh. I think I hit a nerve. You guys just take your time."
Olaf: "That's better."
This was a roller coaster of various emotions
thenk you! for this episide! and it is good to hint the next episode. can be on 4th or 9 december. :) Thank you all. youre great. because i love the 90s.1987-1997 or 1983-2001
Gonna have to load this one onto the Genesis Mini... and looking forward to the Daze Before Xmas episode!
simply amazing ,,,video and thanks for your hard work ,,,plz continue
Thanks! We will!
The three players multiplayer on the Mega Drive is so fun! I was super bummed out to discover that it was dropped for the sequel..
It's really a no contest even if we stop at "it's 3 player". I play 3 player with my nephew and niece and it's just so incredible. Such good memories are being had and we don't have to switch characters. Incredible game so far.
Great video! I wish there was a tally of SNES V Genesis games at the end of the videos.
Awesome video you guys should do doom troopers next!
EShops: Please release Console Wars editions of games so we don't have to choose!
Also: great job on a lesser-known title. Never heard of this one!
"Jump? Like Criss Cross will make ya? Or more like Van Halen Jump?"
I'm more of a House of Pain Jump around kinda guy, but I really truly loved this joke.
Not even watched the video yet, but immediate like!
"Thou must watch all CZcamsth videos ENTIRELY prior to posting" Quote : Jesus Alfonso Rodriguez Christ
The videos are getting better and better. Pat could have made more of an effort with that foil hat though
Nice video... Never disappoints
Top 3 suggestions for the next video:
1. Final Fantasy 6 vs Phantasy Star 4
2. Fatal Fury
3. Super Mario World vs Sonic 2
So, I wish you guys would bring this up: Since the tiles and sprites are the same, yet the x resolution is different, one of the two games will be either stretched or squashed from what the art was intended to be. Circles always give away what the "correct" game is, and in this case SNES has circles and Genesis has ovals where circles should be. So instead of chalking it up to "seeing more of the screen is better" every single time, maybe instead take into account which one of the two games displays the art as it was intended.
most SNES games suffer from the problem that you're talking about (it's one of the SNES worst issues, its flawed resolution, which is limited in size and has 8:7 shape instead of 4:3) AND this includes The Lost Vikings. Look from here: 4:12 what's supposed to be round or square is round or square on Mega Drive whereas it's all deformed with wrong aspect ratio on SNES. You can further check by watching raw screenshots... moreover, the Amiga or MS-DOS ports have the same assets as the Mega Drive version which further indicates how this game is meant to look. so yeah, good aspect ratio AND wider screen estate, only on Mega Drive ;)
You had me at 3 player mode... Then you went and threw in exclusive levels... Good GOD!
Man, 3 player mode looks pretty cool! I know the SNES had multi-tap-made famous by Super BomberMan. But I never played the EA Madden games with multi-tap
WE NEED MICROMACHINES!!!!!
THATS IT!!!, ARE WE DOIN THIS!!!!. i love that.
Heh. Pat's Minnesota accent is a great touch.
As much as I love the Super Nintendo (Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Star Fox, and more), I’m starting to like Sega Genesis more. The sound is great especially in this game. The gameplay is improved in some Sega Genesis versions of some games I played on the Super Nintendo back then, but thats just my opinion
I've yet to play calender bee tree, but I know its a holiday classic.
The cgi in homeward bound is awesome.
Patafoin must have loved the SNES soundtrack. They used a few of the songs in their Sonic Ware compilation.
Also, is the next game Daze (days) Before (Bee 4) Christmas (tree)?
The music sounds great on both. I honestly couldn't decide which is better. They both knew how to play to the console's strengths. I think in this case, it's a matter of preference.
You know what could be a good special episode? Maybe go through different genres of games, seeing which system had the better games for their genre. Like what system did sports games better (perhaps Genesis), or RPG's (I would think SNES had the RPG genre on lockdown due to Square giving them a LOT of love in obvious ways), or action or beat-em-ups. Would love to see the games you two are able to find that we've never heard of for each platform that might prove your point towards one system or another in each genre.
Other Ideas Include WWF Royal Rumble and WWF Raw, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventures, Race Drivin' (this for a worst game, since the game itself is GOD AWFUL), Shaq Fu (another worst of, and this would be FUNNY), Primal Rage, Revolution X
Never knew about 3 player option! I think now this is a hole in my childhood.
Homeward Bound gave me ptsd as a child
I just love how there's literally two vikings in Dan and Pat's room and they're just playing video games hahah!
That's what I love about each episode, comedy gold and great argumentation.
That's what we do.
@@ConsoleWars And you do it wonderfully!
I can't wait for the next CW video!👍

I enjoy it 😊👍 great work guys!
Thanks!
Cheers from Greece guys!
next episode is Daze Before Christmas
I think I had this game when I was a kid. I could never really get into it as a kid, but seeing it here and understanding it a bit better, I wouldn't mind checking it out again.
Also is it me, or if they'd made a live-action "Lost Vikings" movie, the part of Baelog would've been played by Hulk Hogan, in the 90's of course. LOL
I missed you guys
