  • Thermage is a skin tightening device that uses radiofrequency to stimulate collagen synthesis. How does it work? Is it effective? Why do results sometimes vary? After watching this video hopefully you will have answers to these questions.

    My doctor showed me a brand new tip, sealed , no numbing , we tried different settings to make it still comfortable but effective. I can see improvement already, especially around the eyes area, and I am waiting for the full result to come . You made me do it, Dr., and i am really grateful.

      @@mikromue thank you so much for asking. I am not going to lie, the treatment was a bit painful. But, the aesthetician was very nice and adjusted the intensity of the device to my confort. I did my face and neck and some areas were a little more painful than others, like around the mouth and around the eyes. Down time was pretty easy and I only had some sensitivity when in touched my face that lasted a couple of days. Now, for the results: I LOVE IT!!
      I really see my lower face, which was my big concern, more defined, tone and lifted. My neck also look more svelte and lifted. I really love it. I did the Thermage treatment on 2/1/2024, so two months later and I am so pleased with my results. While I was getting my treatment, I kept saying to myself: “I would never do this torture to myself.” I lied. I scheduled a second treatment for later next month. So I can get the “two punch” wow effect. I can’t wait and I will definitely invest in this treatment again and I highly recommend it. 😊♥️

    Thank you so much for this super informative video! I just did my first Thermage a couple of weeks ago (because I’ve been following you💖)
    I couldn’t find a dermatologist office in Atlanta who offered it so I went to LaserAway. They used a new hand piece thank goodness….I got 900 pulses on my abdomen (I’m 36, fit and thin but had some loose skin from my pregnancies).
    I noticed like 70% improvement almost right away and I’m excited to see the skin tighten even more in the upcoming weeks.
    The major down side for me was that it was awfully painful, and I have pretty good pain tolerance. I know they had it at a medium setting within the therapeutic range, in some spots they had to turn it down to the lowest setting (still within that therapeutic range) and I was still suffering. The heat REALLY builds up with all these passes (1.5 hours total….aghhh)
    Now I have a second treatment (BOGO deal 😂), and I’m really wanting to use it for my face but I’m totally freaked out, don’t know if I can even tolerate it, especially near the jawline bone 😰…. Would you recommend any pain reliever prior to the procedure that can take the edge off?
    Sorry that this became long, I hope others can find it helpful.

    I tried thermage in an attempt to hold off getting a neck lift. I didn't see any results. I did end up with melasma which I still have. I have to wear foundation everyday to help cover it. I ended up getting a neck life shortly after. I paid 2800 for one thermage session in Chicago. I paid less than 5k for a neck lift under general anesthesia. Sometimes you have to go the invasive route. I wore two 😷 to cover up and a turtleneck. I went back to work 3 days later. I took one day off and had the weekend. The pain wasn't too bad. I would definitely try ellecor. I would like to try that next. Thermage might work for some but not for everyone. I really wanted it to work for me. I had it done by a registered nurse at Laser Away. A dermatologist would definitely be the best person to perform these treatments.

    • @DrStefaniKappel
      @DrStefaniKappel  Před 2 lety +6

      @@JA-ro3zv Plastic surgeons want to operate over doing minimally invasive procedures. Sometimes surgery is necessary and sometimes it is the only option. However, I've seen patients who have not taken great care of their skin and say for example will have a neck lift. The lack of collagen with creepy skin causes gravity to take over once again and their neck lift results do not last and one year later they are right to where they were before surgery. The point is, increased collagen gives smoother tighter younger looking skin. Surgical results last longer. Without it skin sags and falls. Even after surgery unfortunately. This is why many plastics recommend treatments before or after surgery to maximize results and prolong outcomes. As a Mohs surgeon myself I can say operating on skin that has healthy collagen is different than operating on skin that is collagen depleted. Its like suturing cardboard vs wet tissue paper. I hope this makes sense.

    Is the FLX better than CPT and NXT? I am definitely worried about potential fat loss in the face and if the FLX is the best one to ensure that doesn't happen i will try to find an office with that particular device. Thank you!!

    I had thermage done on my belly after having 3 children by a nurse at a medi spa and she told me to take, I think 2 Tylenol and 2 Advil for the pain. She told me the higher level of pain I can take the better my results would be so I just took the pain…..
    In the end I didn’t notice any difference in my skin 🤷‍♀️

      Honestly plastic surgeons do get as much laser/device education in their training so they often buy the wrong devices for their offices. You'll se most derms have Thermage, Halo, Fraxel, etc all the big guns that work and give consistent results and happy patients. You'll see more Morpheus8 and SkinTyte is plastics and non-derm offices. That is why. Just being honest ;/

      Hi! I have not been as impressed with SkinTyte which is why I do not have one. That device uses infrred not radiofrequency and in my opinion is just not as effective with underwhelming results. I do love the company who owns it tho Sciton is a great laser/device company. But I'm not a fan of the device itself. I'm sorry ;/
