    I've found that taking TMG, along with PS (phosphatidyl serine), CoQ10, folate, B12, and Magnesium Threonate, makes a huge difference in my feelings and functioning. I found my way to these independently, then later learned that many of them are involved in supporting methylation.... that's likely the reason I feel so much better when I take them.

    • @larsnystrom6698
      @larsnystrom6698 Před 8 měsíci

      @dita4911
      TMG is trimethylglycine.
      A glycine molecule with three methyl groups.
      It's commonly used by those taking mega high doses of a B3 vitamin. Because the body looses methyl groups getting rid of any excess. Long-term low level of methyl groups can have a severe effect.
      Glycine is a good buffer for methyl groups. It can hold them or loose them as needed.
      By the way. We usually need more glycine.

    I was told I have MTHFR gene mutations c677t and a1298c on April 1, 2022. In June, 2022, I asked my heart doctor what he thought of that, and he seemed to have no clue about the mutations or the methylation process. I was going to have blood work done on September 1, 2022, for my PCP appointment on September 8, and messaged her in advance to ask if she could include a test for homocysteine levels. She said only a specialist could request that test and then during my appointment with her, she also seemed clueless and confused about methylation.

      I’m not saying there isn’t a problem, yes there is a problem with methylation, because the liver is overloaded & not able to methylate, what I am saying is a mutated gene is NOT the cause, genes DO NOT mutate, if you test positive to a MTHFT test it is because your liver is under functioning if you detox your liver & take the test again it will show negative, it’s a toxic would problem, not a mutated gene !!!

    wrong.,, because it is not genetic, it is epigenetic. Which is related to the mechanism that translate DNA when you need it. This is affected by methylation among other things. It can either suppress or activate certain protein synthesis. Good nutrition and removal of toxins are 2 of the best ways to address any health problem, mental or physical.

  • @zabelicious
    @zabelicious Před 11 lety +5

    I suspect that there are certain genes that you will want to repress (e;g; growth hormones involved in cancer) and others that you will want to activate (say for new neural pathways in brain development to better cope with stress). All you need is to target the area of the histones involved in a specific gene regulation. So sometimes you will need methylation and at other times, de-methylation, which tighten or loosen the DNA stand required for transcription.

For B12 to work it requires a nearly perfect diet and 3 enzymes. TMG/Betaine to the rescue which only requires one enzyme BHMT and is not dependent on diet. Ola Loa is the only single product available to provide complete support for Methylation.

      Be aware that Dr. Hyman sells supplements. I like the guy but at the same time I know that if your finances are tied to your way of thinking, your thinking will be influenced. Dr. Gregor (Nutritonfacts.org) who, along with his group, reads every English language study on nutrition, says that most supplements just make for expensive pee. Dr. Campbell (The China Study) takes no supplements and does not recommend them.
      We have access to foods that have plenty of B vitamins. Plus those foods have a wide range of other healthy benefits. It would be a bad mistake to take some supplements and think you have your bases covered. After reading about 35 books on nutrition, I believe the way to go is Whole Foods Plant Based Organic (supplement with B12 and D (if you don't get sun)).
      Because the supplement, drug, meat, dairy etc. industries have lots of money to influence, most of the information we are exposed to is false. These organizations influence the FDA, USDA, CDC, the organiztion that certifies Dieticians and more.
      If you choose to take supplements be sure to do your research. Supplements are not regulated to any meaningful level. It is a buyer beware purchase.

      ***** very interesting topic of methylation. i think at this point we are not sure if we need more/less methylation. seems that methylation of some genes will suppress some cancers, but methylation of others will contribute to other cancers. Tricky business....

      Brett Carter Hypomethylation of satellites and retroelements together should account
      for the greater part of the decrease in methyl-cytosine content in
      cancer cells. Decreased methylation of single-copy genes does not contribute significantly to
      the decrease in quantity, but whether hypomethylation may lead to the
      reactivation of genes silenced in normal cells is an important issue. here:

      Acid Reflux and GERD Great answer, thank you. Yes I've become very interested in DNA methylation as it pertains to oncogenesis and the epigenetics of cancer. I'll definitely check out that paper and thanks again for that great, cited answer. Cheers!

      No they should take some folic acid instead of folate so that pulls out the extra

    Very old suggestion. This video should be taken out, because folic acid is toxic to most part of popullation.

    He is on the target except when it comes to Saturated Fat and animal protein. Definitely needs to rethink his approach.

      Why? His approach is supported by a lot of recent research into harmful effects of animal products.
