In the more recent version of Maya the sweep mesh tool has been added to create cables: czcams.com/video/9lRnw7OtioI/video.htmlsi=4MhNTLgR6AIJWWEN

Thank you boss, great video not sure if you're still around but cheers
Still around!! Check out my channel 😎
I'm having similar issues as someone else; the cord doesn't snap to the EP curve. I've remade a few curves, but it just deforms horribly far off of the curve. I have the plugin enabled, so I have no idea why it wants to bug out so much.
Hey, did you make sure to delete your history and combine the mesh into one? Also did you make sure you first selected the mesh and then the curve second before applying the warp?
@@uistudios nope still doesnt work, it snaps far away from the curve and dosnt retain its shape
@@emptybruh take a look at this one... its an updated workflow to create cables... czcams.com/video/9lRnw7OtioI/video.html
you need to zero out the rotation on the mesh first
hi, how to have ur maya background color in black?
Check out my other video about backgrounds during modeling: czcams.com/video/42naCIttJdw/video.htmlsi=Q36EFvpJ_uAWoeYG
My wires aren’t snapping to the curve I’ve created it just goes to a random position and looks really deformed, any ideas?
Hey Emily, Make sure that your curve is flat on the grid and not floating in space...
why cant i see my curves with the ep curve tool ?
Which Maya version are you using?
Ty🙏
You are welcome 👊
when i goto attribute editor and try to reduce the subdiv axis to 8 like u did it changes its shape and upper part becomes pointed like a cone. why?
This happens sometimes when you don’t have enough geo to hold the shape… just add more than you need and then quickly go through and delete the extra edges. Hold ctrl double click extra edges and delete.
hello, why can't I find the curve warp option under deform even though I went into animation? I get a bunch of options but not that one. I saw only warp but that did not work. Any suggestions of what I might be doing wrong? Thank you
What version of Maya are you using? It is supposed to be inside the Animation tab > Deform > Curve Warp (3rd one down in new Maya)
you need to enable the curveWarp plugin in the plugin manager
I copied what you did but when I go to select all and twist it doesn’t twitch around the center one they just all twist leaving the middle super thin like some paper what and I doing wrong?
Hey 👋 it’s hard to help without seeing… maybe try to center your pivot or make sure your soft selection is not active. If you still need help feel free to send me your Maya file so I can take a look.
@@uistudios hey I actually found the problem it was because I didn’t add the height subdivision. Sorry haha rookie mistake
Since a bunch of people here are struggling, here's the key to getting the Curve Warp to work properly: *the mesh must have 0,0,0 rotation*
Thank you friend!! Awesomeness
its not snapping to the curve, i deleted historz and combined the cables
Hey, not sure what version of Maya you have access to, but you can also try this new method: czcams.com/video/9lRnw7OtioI/video.html
