  • In my last tutorial, I showed you how to use the wedge tool. In this video, I take it a step further and show you how to model pipes with the tool.
    This is a super quick way to model pipes, and, in my opinion, produces nice and clean results.

    If you have any issues with Selecting (Pressing Tab to "paint" the bottom) then selecting the 2nd object first go to Modeling Toolkit, Multi-Component right under select Edge (should be the middle box) make sure that is the only one selected and then HOLD Ctrl & Shift at the same time then you can select the two edges mentioned on the second cylinder.

    probably the most clever way to create pipes that i've seen, super quick and precise!

    Amazing , thank you! Didn't realize you can use another object as a reference for the wedge tool!

    Excellent! Just what I was looking for. This is good for creating consistent volume pipe structures like the Bauhaus chairs.

      I might make a Bauhaus chair, using this technique... Glad it was helpful!

    Man took a good time to figure it out. I was frustrated why am i not able to select faces and edge at the same time. Guys if you are in 2019 you have to combine two objects first may be its different in 2020 vers. Anyway thanks man for this TIP.

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  Před 2 lety +1

      You should be able to make selections without the need to combine by setting both objects to the selection mode "Multi"

    dont know if you are still replying. if i select both and use the multi tool while holding tab to select the faces on the bottom of the cylinder - its only lets me selects the edges. also while i select the edges using the multi tool the guide cylinder is deselected. i cant wedge

    • @lucaberg8789
      @lucaberg8789 Před 2 lety

      ok i found out how to select the faces using the multi tool, my bad :D. but still, i cant select the guide cylinder after selecting components on the main cylinder (and the other way around its the same issue of course)

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey, it’s a little tricky to do. But once you’ve made your first selection, without clicking off or doing anything, on the guide cylinder you can hold down the right mouse button and select the component type to want to select. Holding shift you should be able to add that to the existing selection. I hope this helps!

  • @paranormalgamesstudios

    Doesn't work for me the wedge doesn't follow the guide cylinder.

    • @paranormalgamesstudios
      @paranormalgamesstudios Před 3 lety +1

      Nevermind I see what you did you selected 2 edges either side to make pivot selection the center of the guide cylinder. Cheers good work!

    You are talking about "two ages" when I see faces of one cylinder and faces on other cylinder. Sorry confusing to me and doesn't work on my Maya 15. I try and try 100 times . something I am missing. but what?
    To fast for my observing eye and brain. I quit.
    Thanks
