Game Character Step by Step Tutorial - Alien Warrior (zBrush, Maya, SP)
Learn how to create your very own amazing high quality 3D game characters in this Step by Step Masterclass. We will start in zBrush, carefully crafting each element to be low poly with clean topology. We will take advantage of zModeler and many other basic but very important tools along the way including using the Dynamics for our cloth positioning... Once the character is finished, we will see how we can use the automatic unwrap feature in zBrush to get us started then jump into Maya for some final touch ups and additional UV cleanup ... for this step you can use any Software you like including Blender if you wish... after that, its Substance Painter time... we will bake our model and take a look at a few smart materials that will quickly get us the beautiful high resolution PBR textures for our game character. Let's do this!

    Amazing video! I will definitely take advantage of this. Would it be possible for you to make one where there is a model in Zbrush and we have to make the mesh lighter to export to Marmoset, thus creating UV and not losing the details? This process is a little confusing for me since my models are highpoly and I don't know how to make it lighter with an acceptable mesh to render and still maintain the details.

      @@Skumhall if you have something high poly, you just have to make a copy of it and turn it into a low poly version by zRemeshing it or manually laying down the new topology over the high one. Once you create the second lower version you have to unwrap it (uv) then use both versions to bake the higher resolution details over to the lower one (textures) i have a few videos showing this process but it slightly changes based on the model.

    You can also create an "EMPTY" in the middle of your scene, then parent your camera to it and animate the empty to spin around your scene if you don't want to spin the actual 3d objects... but keep in mind your lights will be different since you are actually spinning the camera through the scene. :)

    Yeah, you are probably see the remnants of Blender game engine that use to be built in before it was discontinued and revived by the community a few years later. At the very least this is indeed useful to still have.

      Yes you are right ... the best way to use this imo is to create your character in dynamesh in symmetry or T-Pose, then once you are happy zRemesh it into some type of cohesive topology even if its high res and use this tool to tweak your model after you pose it, but it needs the proper wireframe structure to work.

Yes I mean human body base mesh . When I am importing a basemesh giving it some shapes but after while I ending up very large polygon count : ( When I am dynameshing it all my sculpting details being messy ...

      @@garyz1076 Hey, I know zBrush can be a bit confusing when you first start but if you keep learning it will get easier and easier. When you import a base mesh do not Dynamesh it, instead subDivide it which will give you a lot of control when you sculpt. You will be able to dial your resolution up and down based on your details needs. Dynamesh is great if you understand zBrush a bit more, so first learn to work by just subDividing.
