Dead malls is always a good presentation of what world would look like if there was a war or deadly disease and humans went away on a permanent vacation

Ironically 1978 Dawn of the Dead was filmed in the Monroeville Mall in PA built in 1969.

People also used to do walking excercise. People still miss inside stores and places to eat. Bring it back. Let's make The Midway Mall Great again. 🥰

Something hauntingly eerie and nostalgic about dead malls ❤️ So sad Saturdays at the mall/shopping centre with mum or friends are a thing of the past.

I used to hate coming here with my mom when I was a little kid (except for Aladdin's Castle), but as a teen, I frequented the mall a lot. Can't tell you how many meals I ate there in that food court. There used to be an A&W there. Now the closest one is like 50 miles away. I miss those tenders.

I remember as a kid in the late 80s early 90s that the mall would decorate for Christmas beautifully. It's very sad to see all the businesses and Mall closing down. It was really sad when Toys R Us went out of business. We had a Walmart over there but it moved over by Route 20. Maybe I'll visit the mall today before it's gone

That used to be THE MALL I used to go to, from the time I was born till the early 2000's.

My parents moved to Elyria when I was 6 in 1997. The Midway Mall and the Toys R Us across from it were childhood favorites. I loved Babbages, Borders Books, KB Toys, and Suncoast Video. So many good memories. It’s so sad to see what my childhood mall has become.

Wow, that mall outlasted quite a few. 1965 would have placed it amongst the first malls, I think. It’s always cool to see what architectural details survive mall make-overs. Great work, RR. Thank you for all you do.👍🏼🤘🏼😎

I lived right across the street in Sommer’s mobile home park when I was a kid back in the early 80’s.
Back then, this mall was packed! It was so beautiful and during the holidays I remember going there and getting pics with Santa.
I remember sneaking into the movies and watching The Neverending Story in 1984 lol.
There was a large tunnel that ran beneath the main road (57) between the mobile home park and the mall. As kids, my friends and I would walk through that tunnel to the mall or ride our bikes through it.
I remember the Cumberland Farms gas station and Toys-R-Us behind the mall. Eating lunch with my dad at Tavern on the Green (formerly Alzado’s) and going to the bar at The Joyful Mug with Dad almost every night after he’d get home from work.
Man the nostalgia is thick right now!

This mall was awesome during my childhood in the late 90s. I watched its downfall in the ‘00s. Today it is literally a shell. Honestly, with its proximity smack dab in the middle of the turnpike and i90, it would make a great Amazon distribution center.

Was forcefully ejected from this mall today taking pictures- it has fallen even further with very few remaining shops, the only anchor store now is the dunhams sporting goods store, there was maybe 5-10 people in the entire mall when i went inside at 2pm on a sunday. Spooky place.

  • @amusement420
    @amusement420 Před rokem +1

It feels like a friend or family member died when I walk in there. I mean it honestly hurts. Great newspaper clippings. Higbee's/Dillard's had a sunken Gazebo you stepped down into that sold hot dogs. They have a warning sign on an outer door that says mold inside. The mall entrance inside Woolworth's/Best Buy/now Spirit Halloween had a little food counter and arcade games (Phoenix and Armor Attack). I have a 3D electric horse racing game with the Woolworth's logo. Alladin's Castle was the arcade across from JCP near the food court. I still have an arcade token. I have a short video of Macy's 2016 closing day. I don't think Johnny K's ever had his doors open to the mall. But he got a real good deal on it. It was May Co. then Kauffman's prior to Macy's. My sister worked there. They had carnivals in the parking lot. My neighbor was a manager at the Holiday Inn that became Days Inn. I didn't know about the movie being filmed there. That's hilarious how the security guard has a kiosk full of candles. A Chinese restaurant in the food court still does good business there. I always liked the architecture and furnishing of the Midway Mall. The Port Authority is thinking about trying to buy to get it under one ownership. The Cleveland Clinic and amazon warehouse have been considered. Who knows what'll happen. There's been so many things said. The only upside is abandoned CZcams channels like yourself are filming it. I've recorded some. It makes me wish I'd have recorded just a couple years ago. Their web site isn't even updated. It really does make me sad. PS I'm not crazy about the click-baity title which undermines the otherwise respectful video. But it is what it is. It's CZcams.

I remember Midway Mall being packed all the time. FYI the motel was originally Holliday Inn. My mother was a bartender in the bar inside called "Kings Table" if I remember the name correctly. And I stayed there when they were filming The Bronze. Chatted with the filming crew. I thought the told us the title will be Silver. They said one of the actresses of Big Bang Theory was starring. I guess one of the scenes took place in there. It indeed was a dump.
