Don't worry about getting lost in Kirsten's eyes. Same thing happens to me when Avi has closeups in their cover of Can't Hold Us (and yep, Scott and Mitch can rap!), cause holy wowza does he have beautiful eyes!

I hear ya about not liking some of the traditional arrangements you normally hear with Christmas music (like the ones playing in a mall). That's something you NEVER get with Pentatonix Christmas songs. They always take the traditional arrangements and COMPLETELY turn them inside out! And I can't blame you at all for crushing on Kirstie. She is VERY crush-worthy!

Great reaction! I think what you are trying to describe about the structure in their style is that their harmonies take you on a dynamic journey. Like a rollercoaster ride there are ups, downs, loops, and sudden turns. They are masters at crafting and driving the experience.

Tchaikovsky wrote "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" for "The Nutcracker". He wrote it for an orchestra to perform, no lyrics, no voices, just instruments, and Pentatonix did it with no instruments, just voices, but no lyrics. It is an amazing arrangement that they won a Grammy for. It has one of Avi's deepest notes and one of Mitch's highest notes. I think you will really enjoy it.

This is one of my favorite PTX Christmas songs. I love Avi's parts the most

Pentatonix arranges songs as short stories. Each has a set up, a main story line with flourishes, a peak, and a soft landing. The variations within each song keep me coming back for more. (and more (and More!)!)!!!!

This is one of my favorites, probably because of Avi. Loved how you described that build up they do like a rollercoaster. They take you up and up and then throw you out into mid-air and let you soar for a moment, then they catch you gently and softly set you down to earth again. Amazing Grace did that too. At the climactic moment with Kirstin & Scott, the bass fell out and the harmonies carried you for a moment. You feel like you're flying! Enjoyed this so much, thx!

Gotta say, you amaze me with your determination. If I were in your place I'd be crying and raging 24/7. I definitely wouldn't be making videos to brighten other's days! It'll come back around to you, the good stuff you put out into the world. Probably when you least expect it and hopefully when you need it most.

So sorry you hare having such a rough time. Hang in there! Thanks for your reaction despite the challenges you are experiencing. I agree with you that the holidays do bring some brightness. I agree that we have some weird mixed relationships with the holiday season. Take care and I hope things get a little easier for you.

I am constantly just blown away by their beautiful and unique arrangements for the songs they do. This one is right up there with their best. I have never encountered such a music group that can take my emotions soaring from so happy and joyful to coming back down to earth to being thoughful and introspective and even sad - and often in the same song! Pentatonix is just a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Love your reaction!

That crescendo is known (informally) as the PTX Wall of Sound! If you haven't done it yet, react to their cover of Silent Night. It was recorded live in a church rectory. It is fantastic.

While Pentatonix is an amazing acapella group you have to give a listen to Home Free in all fairness. A good start would be Ring of Fire cover and Misty Mountain with Peter Hollins & Tim Foust from Home Free. Also Seven Bridges Road cover is amazing as well, honestly I think it is better than the original. Give them a listen and do a reaction. Going to subscribe and see I see any of their stuff come up.
