- Life can be tough on the Arctic Tundra, but for a short period of time is an ideal habitat for Snow Geese to graze and nest. Despite the lack of predators in this region, danger is never too far away and surveying this scene has been one hungry Arctic Fox, eager to feed her cubs.

But she only found one small chick to share among her seven small cubs... Not to mention that she has to eat too.
I'd say they both can't have the energy to be sad, they just have to keep living for their kids.
And I think one of the pusps had the whole chick for himself.

I kinda felt bad because it made me giggle a bit when seeing the fox desperately trying to carry them in her mouth when mama and daddy came hurdling over. It was comical. But sad. I'm so conflicted!!!

I feel so bad for that baby gosling! Even though it is part of the food chain, and that attic fix mom desperately needed those baby geese to feed her children.
Yes, the peep of helplessness from the gosling is heart wrenching; but the sad truth is that there are no good guys or bad guys in nature. You may feel compelled to side with one or the other, but predator and prey both must do what they need to in order to survive. The geese must protect their chicks or the fox will catch them and feed them to her kits; but if the fox doesn't make the catch, her kits will starve to death.

You can accept that something happens and still mourn it. It is reality that humans die and yet that doesn't stop almost everyone from mourning people who die. It's still sad.
Yes, it's reality and foxes need to eat animals in order to survive. But someone who valued her life and felt pain, suffered and died and that's still sad. Even if it was necessary for the fox and her kits, it's still a SAD necessity.

I understand Darwin's Theory, but I can never help but feel so sad to see little babies die because their predator hunts them for food. I was pretty horrified at seeing an almost lifeless chick hanging out of that foxes mouth, until I saw that she was feeding her own babies. The Animal Kingdom is fascinating.

do you realize that without those "future killers" the whole earths ecosystem cant survive?
