Lots of demos out there showing just basic dirty carpets, or "stains" that are a set-up for quick easy cleaning. This was a real world worst-case scenario from an honest unbiased reviewer. Very impressive improvement. Also, Akira looks just like our sweet little brindle boxer, Mazie, who also passed away recently. It is impossible to not adore that big silly boxer grin. Much love. Ignore the mean comments. All of us loving owners of senior dogs, rescued or foster dogs, and dogs with disabilities know the challenge, and are 100% on your side. Also, as a company, Bissell is VERY dedicated to helping the pet community, adoption agencies, etc. Hoover can suck it (literally). I'll buy Bissell every time.

I've had mine for years and it's gotten plenty of use not only on my house and cars, but those of my kids too. Well, the flow control finally decided to leak. Few screws, two clamps, and $8 later she's up. Great quality unit and super easy to work on if you needed to. I would buy this again 100x over.

This was such a thorough demonstration video. I just got this machine today and I found this informative video so I can learn how to use it. I'm so sorry about your dog. Bless you for just accepting her messes at the end of her life and keeping her comfortable until the end. My cat just passed away from cancer at age 14. At the end of her life she was peeing all over and absolutely destroyed the carpet. But cleaning her pee after she passed was a very difficult and sad task for me to do, so I paid a professional carpet cleaning company to do it.
This machine was definitely expensive but I think with the amount of money I would have to spend for a professional whenever I need a pet or child mess cleaned up, it will pay for itself.
Thank you so much for watching and understanding. I think having a carpet cleaner is definitely helpful for at least a once a year deep clean. In the future, I will opt to have a house with no carpet at all. I prefer hardwood floors.

Amazing review! They literally just delivered mine and I went over a section of my carpet and it's lightened a few shades! Great job sir. As others have said, ignore the mean comments! This was great to watch. We recently got a bull dog pup and had to wait to do our door potty training when we first got her due to -30 degree temps in Iowa. So, one of our dedicated rooms used for “pad training” is now needing some pro carpet cleaning attention. In any case... the dog community understands you! It’s always a challenge when you have such love for mans best friend.

I just got a Big Green, too. Found your video while searching for the problem I had with it. Very good work, thank you. Bissell service is pretty good. My unit was dropping dirty water on the path after I pulled it back again. It happened from the very beginning. They are replacing the unit, no questions asked. Hope the next one doesn't do that. FedEx will pick it up, all I have to do is put it back in the box and ship. One thing people should know, you're supposed to dry the carpet as you go. So each "line" should take 4 passes. One forward and back with the trigger pulled to clean it with the solution. Then another pass without trigger pulled to suction the water up. My carpet looks great even with the issue I had. I suctioned up the dirty water, but it shouldn't spill out like that.
I think the one I tested got the spill too after my mom ran it straight for almost 2 hours beyond it's recommendation. I returned it to my friend and I offered some money for the trouble but he eventually fixed it by replacing the sensor.
Thank you so much for your video. I rented this machine and was intimated to use it, especially on the stairs. You made it seem very manageable and I was able to clean my rugs and stairs on my own. I rented for about $40 and it was totally worth doing the job myself. Thanks again!

Bissell should make you their poster man! I’m sold. That’s amazing! I’m sorry for your loss. We just lost our dog. He was blind. His owners gave him up in the end and we adopted him. We only had him for a year but it was such a joyous year. It’s never easy to say goodbye, but I know now how important it is to adopt older and disabled animals. Hope you have many more dogs in your future!

You will definitely like it but remember do not use it continuously or you will break the motor or suction as my mom did when she ran it for like 2 hours straight.
You'll be glad. It really does work very well. SO much better than the typical carpet shampooers sold in discount stores. We've had one for several years, and we love being able to clean our carpets several times a year with the only cost being the shampoo. We do recommend using the shampoo that comes with the shampooer. We got the shampooer and also reorder shampoo from Amazon.
I just ordered one of these direct from Bissell, should be arriving this week. Looks like it did a great job!

I would probably replace the carpet due to the fact that the pad probably absorbed the pee. There are carpets that have a different backing to prevent that from. happening. Did any of the stains reappear after drying? Sorry to hear about the dog as they become family members.

Hey Jay! FYI I finally had enough. Like you, I had a dog with health issues that passed. I had been carrying her in/out when needed but it just wasn't enough. I needed a new carpet cleaner and with 2 cats and 1 pooch remaining it was time to quit messing around with regular off the shelf stuff, they just don't last and they perform... with the best equipment you can buy running off the pot from the truck.
Carpet acts like a filter and after a while the dirt will be in the padding and underneath and you will never get it all out.

You were saying for the price of the carpet cleaner you can have someone come into your house and do the job for you, but one thing about that is the cost of the carpet cleaner is a one time investment. It would cost the $300 you mentioned every time you had a company come in to clean, so on the second use of the Bissell it will have paid for itself.
Not really... The cleaning company will come in with much better equipment.
Look up "advanced cleaning systems" the work they do to carpets is absolutely amazing.
Doing it yourself takes longer than the pros. They have better equipment. However, you can afford to take the time to work on every stain spot multiple times until gone. Pros can't. They try a few passes and if not, they move on. I stay there til the stain is out. The guy in the video isn't using the wand or floor cleaner part quite correctly either. Needs multiple passes with machine and pretreatment. Bad stains use the hand tool and scrub them beforehand. You can even turn half the carpet over and clean back, then reinstall to tack strip. Pros won't do that.

I'm sorry for the lost of your dog. She was so loved you can tell.I have a Dachshund that I rescued or I think maybe she rescued us. she had that almost same thing. Emergency vet commended that I put her down because it would be an unfair life for her. I worked mybutt off with her now she doing amazing. They are definitely a family member that leaves to soon. Do we have to pre spray the carpet or at a removal to certain stains before using the big green ? And can we used it to pre vacuum as a normal vacuum so the dirt doesn’t mix with the water inside the carpet ?
You have to vacuum first and spray at areas if heavily stained. This is a carpet cleaner, not a vacuum cleaner.

Big difference! I would suggest getting a deep cleaning from a pro and from there onwards use your machine to maintain 👍🏼 I also clean my carpets at home, I have someone come in once a year to do a deep clean.
And about your angel dog ... I’m deeply saddened for your loss. My childhood dog passed way a few months ago. He was disabled before he passed, pooped and peed everywhere at my parents house as he didn’t feel. I helped them tear the carpet out, because they were really depressed. People can be so judge-mental

The stains aren't hard to get, it's the smell. Recommend using a good enzyme cleaner in the tank and afterwards. I just used my Proheat 2X Pet Pro on caked on decade old cat pee with Bissell Urine Eliminator and Simple Green Cat Urine and it did a fantastic job. I tried Rocco and Nature's Miracle and neither worked, Simple Green did the job.

Spot clean overnight on heavier stains the professionals spay a solution lightly first not sure the difference as to putting into the appliance just a thought fo this carpet clean a few times I guess good as new once water clear so a few times more just be like the pros out come great vid sorry to hear about your beloved dog xx

Does anyone know why the Bissell Big Green comes in different model numbers? I've noticed clear top and white top.
Where do you see this option? I only see the one I reviewed on Amazon.

I use this in a large facility with a fair amount of carpet. Works well!! I never use actual 'carpet cleaner' but a peroxide dilution...works fantastic every time!

I'm asking this because Bissell's another model PetPro has this problem that the brushroll still spins when the hose is being used and it almost burned my carpet when I left it aside for a while. I'm thinking to get this Big Green but want to make sure it doesn't have similar problem.
I own one. I'm pretty sure the brush doesn't spin when the hose is attached. I think that's what the little plug on the hose does. It deactivates the brush roll.

I believe it will work for any type of carpet. There are many different cleaning solutions out there but I showed you which one I used and it worked. I don't think the pressure is adjustable.

you should use the machine more often as it is very professional. The way I think you’re supposed to use the hand brush on the stairs is that you first turn the machine on to spray it down with the solution using the hand tool, then turn the machine off to stop the vacuum, and then use the hand brush to agitate the carpet and stains like brushing ones teeth. Finally turn the machine on again and use the suction to suction up everything that you brushed.
Scrubbing with the hand tool while the machine is on is not doing anything because you will be suctioning out the chemicals before you have a chance to clean it properly.
Yes, it's a lot of work for the stairs and you can spend almost half a day to clean a house lol.
i use a gardensprayer with cleaning solution and agitate it with a brush mounted on a cordless power drill then using the vacuum. in the bissell i fill clear water
You can clean the corners with the resolve pet care spray can and a scrub brush and vacuum after it dries. Also, you can use a cheaper model, but you will need to go over it 2x. If you want to just clean 1 room 1x, you might be able to use a wet vac or steam cleaner and return it minus the soap, but always check with a store manager 1st. They might not return it if it's been used or used heavily.

Will it work on hard floors?
This is a carpet steamer so I doubt it's designed for hardwood floors. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives for wood floors.

OK here’s my question did it smell before? How was the smell after you cleaned it? What I’ve noticed is sometimes a smell will come back I have a dog that had a similar problem just don’t wanna waste my money
The smell was worse before but because the carpet and probably sub-board has absorbed the urine, it will still be noticeable. I imagine it will get better with each wash. I will eventually replace my carpets with wood.

The comments on this video are truly disgusting. This guys dog was disabled and had accidents, my dogs do it as well, as they are both old and can't hold it for too long anymore. Secondly, you all are judging him on not cleaning the carpets for a while on a video of him cleaning the carpets. Finally, the sink comments are unneeded. He is most likely aware that his sink needs to be cleaned and probably did so after the video. People honestly need to stop judging people by how their house or car looks. Those are superficial things that don't matter.

Can this be used as a vacuum cleaner only?

It would not be recommended to use this as a vacuum only. Main reason, the vacuum is in front of the brush instead of above or behind it. It's not going to pick up as well as a traditional vacuum cleaner would. I guess you might consider a normal vacuum or even a shop-vac would be 1/4 the price of one of these, as this machine is around $400. Works very well as an all-around carpet cleaner, though!

Well it sprays the hot tap water from the sink and then sucks it up. It doesn't have a heating element like expensive commercial vacuums.
Hi Karen, I know you had asked this question some time ago, but here's your answer just the same. It will leave your carpet somewhat lightly damp, but I will tell you this, your carpet will dry in less than half the time it takes one of those rentals like Rug Doctor and such due to the extra suction this model has. Although I do put fans in every room to help push the moisture out just as I've done with the rentals, it still took at least 12-16hrs. to completely dry with rentals, whereas, using this model it only takes 2-3hrs.

@@la.adicks9240 I wasn't aware that they rented the big green machines anywhere, at least not around where I am located. All I do know is, the Big Green that I had bought is far superior than any Rug Doctor that I had used in the past.
How long it will it take to clean one big room ?
A living room about the size of 300sq ft probably 35-40 min as you have to go slowly.

I don't think he even followed the recommended use. You should hold the trigger down up and back, then do another pass up and back without the trigger pressed is the correct way to use the machine, it would have done an even better job if he used it correctly. I own this machine for about a year now and it does an excellent job. I also use the oxy additive by Bissell an addition to the pro solution.
Since my carpet was stained so bad I wanted to use more spray. It's a good machine for home use.
First step, don’t wear shoes in the house!
