A stain is permanent, by definition-it is a color (of whatever was spilled) or dye that is overtakes it’s original color. If it’s removes then it’s a spot. Especially if hot coffee or tea is spilled.

just rented one. my carpet wasn't nearly as nasty looking as this guy's.... didn't get it nearly as clean. in my office where the plastic chair pad sat there is a noticeable giant clean spot surrounded by dirty carpet. just went over the entire room like 3 times and you can still see the spot where my chair mat sat. I will say though I am not using the pre treatment. the hardware store I rented it from didn't have any. I might go to a different store and see if they have it, but I doubt it will make much of a difference. having my suspicions these green machine vids are paid advertisements for Bissell.

I rent a Big Green Machine twice a year from our hardware store. I have two children and a lot of carpet. There are no visible stains, but the amount of black water I pour out after each run is enough to tell me that there is dirt and nastiness buried in our carpets that I'm so happy to get out.

Not a good idea. Ever wonder how "stains" appear in your carpet when no one spilled anything? The oils from our feet get trapped in the fibers of the carpet and when shoes are worn on the carpet, the "oily" fibers pick up the dirt. I no longer allow bare feet on my carpet for that very reason.

I think it said that if you had a bissell machine, you could use as much as 5 and if it was not a bissell machine, then only use 1. I may have used somewhere in the middle but I did it twice Maybe they were talking about regular soap and I used concentrate. I forgot how many times I ran over the same area with fresh water( maybe 10 times) but eventually it came out clean in most areas. It look like 3 days for the area.
