  • In this video we explain what a "T4" turbine housing is and why you would want to switch over to it. More specifically, when you own a 6.0 Powerstroke that came with a VGT style turbo, and what it takes to go NON-VGT.
    What should i know before going NON-VGT on my 6.0 Powerstroke?
    Which T4 Swap Kit Is right for me?
    What that classic 6.0 turbo whistle, can i keep that??

    This was a well- spoken informative presentation. Just starting out in the 6.0L Powerstroke world and videos like this are very helpful to those who haven't "been there, done that". VGT FTW.

    I just finished reinstalling the engine in my truck and I went with a S362 and a stage 2 colt cam. I'm pretty happy. No complaints at all.

      Apples to oranges, but swapped out shit VGT on our 12 Duramax tow pig for SXE362 also. Gave up a touch of down low response, but small enough you can still operate loaded w cruise control and egts still rarely top 1200 on the grades w up to 20k toy hauler. Win win in my book! Tiny seat of the pants upper end power bump too!!

    One things that wasn't mentioned, and correct me if I'm wrong, is the truck needs to be egr deleted for non vgt.
    In fact, vgt turbos were created because of egr, as a way to maintain boost when the egr valve opens.

    • @KCTURBOS
      @KCTURBOS  Před 4 lety

      It can help, but nothing beats a VGT. We just plug in a VGT solenoid and let it sit in the valley. As long as its connected, no CEL.

      non VGT spools Fast. my Borg warner 369 SXE starts building boost at about 1500 RPM. and at 1800 RPM i got 10 PSI already. on my truck and with my warren tuning with 175/30 injectors the truck does about 60 PSI at most. when the turbo lights and it gets into the RPM. it can go higher but i really really don't like bouncing the truck off the rev limiter.

    • @KCTURBOS
      @KCTURBOS  Před měsícem

      Thats correct! Your options are get your tuner to remove the VGT code. or You can also just take the VGT solenoid and plug it in and just let it hang out in the valley of your engine.

    Can you just remove the vanes from the vgt to make a non vgt?

    • @KCTURBOS
      @KCTURBOS  Před rokem

      That would not work because then the exhaust gasses would not be directed to the turbine properly. If you want to turn a VGT into a non-VGT, you could just unplug the solenoid and the vanes will default to open. Then you can really enjoy the new found lag.

  • @That_dually_6.0

    Can you just put the kit on and go or do you have to have other mods?

    • @KCTURBOS
      @KCTURBOS  Před rokem

      All you technically need is the T4 Kit and the turbo and you can install it. You will want to get your custom tunes revised, since you will no longer have a VGT actuator. Also, depending on what size turbo you decide to go with, you will want to upgrade injectors, HPOP, Etc. to maximize the benefits.
