    Taking something away from the father-in-law? Yes, you're taking something away that he HASN'T EARNED... Having a child named after you is an honor, not a right to be demanded

    I may be in the minority here, but honestly I'm agreeing with the FedEx driver for the most part.
    Did he go overboard in his comments? Sure.
    That said, the other trucks are blocking free movement of traffic on that road, and thus those vehicles ARE the problem, not the person trying to actually use the road for driving. Replace the FedEx truck with a fire truck or ambulance. By blocking the road, new development or not, those vehicles are creating a hazardous situation, and should coordinate so that the road has a free passage available. Honestly, as much of a pain as it is, this is a place where the traffic police should be called to coordinate movement along the road if there's no way for both trucks to be there without blocking traffic.
    Also, "take a break from the monotony"? Really? You do realize these drivers usually have a quota and/or timeline for deliveries to make, and are under pressure. They often can't just take a break because a public road is blocked for the convenience of the homeowners.

    "It's just 8 people"
    You read the story, so how did you get 8 people - they ALREADY increased the size to more than they initially wanted. ? I'm with the fiance here; "it's just 8 more" doesn't cut it. At some point you have to draw a line and say no more . You can and should reasonably talk about it, but going from 85 to 100 to 108 would already mean they're 23 more than they originally accounted for, so you're rapidly approaching that "it's not like it's 50" mentioned.

    • @firefly4f4
      @firefly4f4 Pƙed 23 dny

      Just as a sidenote, hence this being a reply and not an edit, my guess is not that the venue said, "you must have at least 100" but rather that the minimum charge is for 100 people, at which point the couple might as well invite the extra 15 as the venue will cost the same either way.

    I remember when these armored car guard jerks started a fight with our delivery guy at one of my old workplaces. I took out my phone to record the whole thing, after snapping photos of the armored car and license plates. One of my coworkers did the same, and someone else called the cops.
    The cops made the armored car guards leave, and we helped the delivery guy as witnesses to file a police report and a complaint to the armored car company.

    • @firefly4f4
      @firefly4f4 Pƙed 23 dny

      Pretty much. If the armored vehicle is blocking the road thereby preventing the delivery driver (or anyone else) from getting by, then the driver of the armored vehicle is in the wrong. Same thing with this story: the FedEx driver might have been wrong to use the language, but the most entitled people here are the moving trucks and homeowners who feel they're in the right for blocking the street for their convenience. Sorry, they don't get to block a road and only clear it when it's convenient for them. They need to leave a clear path at all times for other vehicles.

    First story many years ago, I had to go and collect a water pump that had been off hired, the guys left it behind small edging stones about 5 inches high, now the pump weighs nearly 2 tonnes, so I couldn't move it on my own, no problem my truck as a winch, but because of where it was, I had to position my truck across the street, I had it half way up the ranks when a born started blaring, it was a royal mail vehicle, I apologised for the inconvienience, but he screamed that I was in the wrong, then turned around and drove off, 30 seconds later I was able to unblock the road, secure my load and be on my way!

    Story 2 - Yes, OP is in the wrong here. There wasn't even supposed to be 100 people there. The fact that there is is the fault of the venue because they insisted. And these extra 8 people are not family. They are friends of your Parents. They're not even friends of yours or your fiance's. They don't need to be there and your parents need to back off the issue.
    Story 3 - It doesn't matter what the inlaws want. They need to stfu. You name YOUR children how you want. But also, for the kid's sake, consider the name carefully. Don't give them anything weird.

    Story 1: Bro needs to chill. He could have just asked if they could move move the trucks so that he can pass, but no. He was cussng and saying r-cist thing. They even offered to move but you just had to cause a scene and make a big problem. He even said things to OP's wife. These people need to shut up and move on.
    Story 2: I get the OP's fiancé is saying but dude it's just 8 people. I get you wanted a small wedding but if there has to be 100 people at the place you guys are having it, then it really isn't a small wedding.
    Story 3: The Father in law need to shut up. That child is not yours, it's your daughter in law's, and son's child. They get to chose what to name it and you have no right or say in that. If you wanted someone named after you then you should have name one of your children after you.
    Story 4: Good for you man. If your boss wants to be included in every email you send at work then I guess you have to do it.
    Story 5: Wtf is wrong with people. Maybe it is easy to use SOMEONE ELSE'S yard so your dog to go to poop, but IT IS NOT YOUR HOUSE. You don't get to put your dog over someone's fence and let your dog take a dump. Your kids play in that yard. Image if they fall in it or being how young they are, image what they'd do! Like what is wrong with you. Just because his house has a yard doesn't mean you get to have your dog to poop in it. I think he should get a bigger fence or something else to stop people from doing that.
    Story 6: Just because you wear make up doesn't mean that you are more attractive. It depends on what the other person thinks about you too. Also, see they said they didn't like each other YEARS AGO. That doesn't mean they can't like each other now. OP's sister is being dramatic right now. She didn't even do anything wrong, and she starts crying and running to her room like a child, you are 19. Maybe OP could have worded it a little differently to make it nicer/calmer but the message had to get through.

      While the language was uncalled for, the moving trucks shouldn't be blocking the road for any reason. There needs to be free passage available along the road at all times, and frankly it's rather entitled of the home owners to just block the road for their convenience as the road is for driving.
      If for some reason there was no way for the road to not be blocked, then the police should have been called to coordinate traffic.
      Delivery drivers have a schedule/targets to meet, and cannot just sit by until it's convenient for the moving companies to move their trucks which shouldn't even be blocking the road in the first place.
      Replace the delivery truck with any emergency vehicle and the issue becomes immediately apparent. Don't block the road.
