It's called Fusarium TR4 and it's a huge epidemic that's killing the Cavendish Banana
Overall, huge problem and has been going on for a couple decades.
Recently it got to South America, which is a huuuuge problem

The way redundancy works in uk; is not how it's described in story 1.
If, a company is making employees redundant, it first has to announce it with at least 2 months notice before the effect date, and give existing staff the option of of taking voluntary redundancy (normally a higher payout then regular redundancy) and see if anyone just wants to leave the company, before analysing employee performance and time served, etc, etc.
Coming from a communications workers union representative of the UK (IT union)

@@fla9086 it's basically where an employer let's employees go, because it no longer can operate with its current wage bill, doesn't have the work to support itself as a business long term, or various other reasons

15:44 it's nerd. geeks are fans of fictional things like comic books, scifi/fantasy literature, movies, music, d&d, other paper and pencil games, and so many more it'd make me fall asleep at my desk to write much more of then.
nerds, on the other hand, are those enthralled with such things as math, science, classical literature, music *theory*, and basically anything else technical or involving knowledge of things that are non fictional and usually associated with academia. 👍

I was made redundant in January in the UK (at the same time several other companies let so many people go as well)
I can tell you for a fact that their criteria in who to let go as purely based on who was supposed to get a pay increase in January (& believe me that pay increase was desperately needed,because with what I was earning I barely managed to feed myself thanks to the living cost increase)& not about competency at your job or anything else
The reason I know for a fact is because people who didn’t do a thing during their shift, except for the occasional chat with a customer that came in & other than that just sat there all day not doing a thing & waited for the day to be over & on a regular basis on the weekend would turn up up to 40 min late for the shift (even though we WFH), those people kept their job, while others who kept making sure the email queue was empty, while also taking calls, that kept coming in more frequently than chats, were let go
We were told we can apply internally for available positions but there were no suitable positions available
Then the day before the termination day suddenly they welcomed 2 new hires in the chat for my town for practically the same role as mine, just for another product
3 days after the termination day they posted on a job site again for the same role for another product
It didn’t say what they would pay but it was clear to me that I was correct from the start: They made us redundant to then hire people for less money, just to not have to pay the pay increase for several hundred people.
My final confirmation I got when I was trying to find their HR number in March for the background check I was going through for the new job I finally found
And guess what: again they posted for this role for the other product
This time the wages were included
They were offering 2.5k less to what I would have earned after the pay increase that I was supposed to get!
And non of the positions they clearly had available immediately were offered to any of us.
Of course you can not sue them for wrongful termination because they were not terminating us, since we were made redundant!
Luckily with my new job not only am I now working with an awesome team where everyone pulls their weight, I am also earning now way more than I had with my old job & I am finally able to even save some money

Your voice indicates me that this video is going to be about something really technical on a work station or college/school. Basically bureaucratic stuff. And in most cases, AMERICAN bureaucratic stuff, which is like 20 times worse.
Since i hate bureaucracy so much it literally boils my blood, i tend to avoid the videos that has your voice on as much as possible.

I enjoy listening to these stories while I’m doing housework but in all honesty I have a hard time listening to the dude who does horrible accents when changing his voice to represent different characters. I know it’s a ridiculous thing to be annoyed at as no one is forcing me to be here but I can’t stop the cringe each time his voice changes to his “Karen” voice. I feel kind of bad for him as it’s so awkward. Sigh, It’s a dumb thing to be annoyed at but I can’t help it. Ha. First world problem for sure. 😁
