r/Relationships HELP! I'm Black And My White Boyfriend Supports Slavery

- r/Relationships_Advice Today's story is one of the strangest posts I've ever read. OP is a black woman dating a white guy, and everything in their relationship has been perfectly fine. Eventually the topic of slavery comes up, and OP's boyfriend says that she shouldn't criticize slavery because she actually would have had a good life during that time period as a white-passing slave. OP is shocked because... well, who wouldn't be shocked by something like that?! If you like this video, subscribe for more Reddit stories!

That dad choosing the new gf over her daughter is heartbreaking. Sounds like he never dealt with the grief of losing OPâs mom and is just trying to fight by filling the void with this girlfriend.
Or just never wanting OP's mom and the gf was already hes in like a few years or what
you never know if the teen wasnt just making drama. she didnt like that lady from the start and so probably didnt give the lady any reason to like the teen. what you say to your friends isnt what you really do in reality. i mean nobody would have boyfriend or husband and everyone would be dead from others wishing someone dead. That woman prob didnt know how to behave next to kid of her lover. first meeting are weird
We have a saying where I am from 'a cunt pulls harder than 12 workhorses' Luckily the grandparents care enough to pick up where he stopped caring.
@@vivietamihmih8460 if the GF truly loves the father, she would have tried to work with daughter. The GF knew of the daughter well before the daughter knew of her, so she would have to have made a conscious decision to be that petty about daughter, even to a friend during a "private" conversation.
OP made another update but it was deleted. From the comment section I gathered that OP's dad said that he needs a break from her. What a jackass. You don't take a break from your child. You don't take a break from being a parent.

Glad he got rid of his terrible friends
having an open mind in a relationship is the best way to solve problems. hopefully this couple will be together for a long time.
What I really donât understand is how the boyfriend could think that way after watching â12 Years a Slaveâ. One of the main characters Patsey, (played incredibly by Lupita Nyong'o), was the plantation owners âfavoriteâ slave and her life was so miserable. She was abused, raped and went though so much trauma it was a miracle she held on. If thatâs a âcushyâ life I would hate to see his deffiniton of a bad one.
SuperLordQ still mad she got left on the plantation. I know thatâs what happened and couldnât really have been avoided but damn itâs so depressing
SuperLordQ what I donât understand is how the boyfriend could thinkslavery was good even BEFORE watching 12 Years a Slave.
He literally thinks that getting raped is a privilege. This guy has deep seated problems.
Jade Harley Yeah itâs frustrating that unfortunately most of the characters aside from Solomon didnât get a happy ending. But at least they still gave an impact.
Liz D For sure, OP should definitely get the hell out of that relationship ASAP.
To OP of the story about her father: The new GF is manipulating him by playing the victim. She has him wrapped around her finger. Why I don't know. She has him convinced that you're the villain. If he's going along with everything _she_ wants and ignoring you, the I don't care how he used to be, he's a worthless father now. I say cut ties with him, and forget he exists. I did that with my entire "family" and have never been happier. Your grandparents are the ones you need. That's why they're called Grand.
That is what I thought too. That gf has practically controlled and manipulated him; breaking the family apart. I wouldn't be surprised if the gf has cheated on him. From what I've heard, OP has posted an update (unfortunately was deleted) that she spoke to her dad one last time and his excuse was, "I need a break." A break from what? He lost his own daughter and doesn't think anything is wrong. He's gone and OP deserves better.
@@Love2Banime Love how so many men think that they can just walk away from being a parent whenever they want. Finding the good ones that take the responsibility fully is pretty hard. My hat goes off to all those men and I'm so glad my husband is one of them.
Phoenix DarkMoon men who just walk away from their problems are spineless.
What would make me feel better is if he was watching his life flash before his eyes, realized he fucked up, and by the time he tries to make amends with OP, itâll be too late
She needs to go nanny McPhee on that hag
For the OP with the fatherâs girlfriend: If/When that relationship blows up in his face (and I feel that it will) heâs gonna realize that he pushed his child away and now heâll be completely alone because he was such a tool bag who chose a stranger over his own family.
the father is probably still grieving the mother and wanted to distract himself from it by "replacing" her and she manipulated him. i hope he's gonna realize sometime soon, i feel very sorry for op that she has to go through this but living with her grandparents was the play for now
Nah, that girlfriend will start popping out do-over replacements for OP to 'seal the deal' with a quickness. Then 'encourage'/force OP to move back in to sacrifice their education to look after the offspring. Sad, but it wouldn't be the first time that played out in life.
@@LadyJoolree Iâve read/watched/heard soooo many stories of that. It really sucks, and I hope it doesnât happen to OP
I think itâs telling of the boyfriend in the last story to call OP, âAn exotic white girl looking to feel oppressed,â because it shows how he really feels about her. Sheâs a novelty to him at best. She needs to run FAST.
Guaranteed I'll be punching the first boyfriend/girlfriend my daughter brings home that calls her 'exotic'.
For real, any time someone calls you "exotic" you RUN THE HELL AWAY ASAP
also love how the first thing he tries to do after a big fight isn't to talk, a hug ect but to sleep with her... because that's exactly what you do
I'm more amazed that she didn't just kick his ass to the curb. Seriously telling her she would just be some broodmare and that she would love that live is really f'ed up and yeah the fact he wants to have sex with her despite the fight just shows what she is to him..some "exotic" trophy that he can have sex with whenever he wants
@@Nikagor I wouldn't be surprised if he has her groomed to some extent because she had to question if she was the asshole in a situation where she clearly wasn't and believes that she was the one who needed to be forgiven by him. This guy is totally devious, and his true intentions and feelings toward her slipped.
The story about OP's dad choosing the girlfriend over them... That really hit home. It was nearly verbatim to what my dad did after my parents divorced. He kept us away from our mom, but also did nothing to participate in our lives. Once the GF came in, she was all that mattered. It was so bad that he wouldn't even feed us at home because he didn't care; GF and him would just eat out.
Leaving was the best option for OP. At that point, they're just not a parent anymore. That kind of environment just breeds life long depression/suicidal tendencies.
I'm so sorry for you and your siblings. I come from divorce parents too! It does get better...when you leave.
Thereâs something called guns, and something called violence. You know what Iâm about to say
As someone who was in a similar boat after my parents divorced, that story broke my heart. I'm sorry to hear something like that happened to you, too. I remember my dad also avoided feeding us or, when he did, it was always junk like leaving TV dinners or just buying McDonald's because he could never be bothered to cook anything. I still can't stomach corn dogs because of how much of those I had to live off of in his household, plus they just bring bad memories.
@@ReverieNightengale As much as I hated it happening to me, it does break my heart to know others share that specific similar experience đą
I wish I had been fortunate enough to get even TV dinners. We just... literally got nothing. Whatever I got at school was my only real meal. At home, peanut butter on bread was the only thing I could make without getting yelled at for "not cleaning dishes right" or "making too much noise". I still can't stand the smell of PB these days...
@@TwilitBeholder Oof, that's rough, and kinda how I am about corndogs - my dad for some reason had a lot of them in the freezer all the time and it was the easiest, quickest thing a kid could make. At one point he stormed out of the house without getting food at all after screaming at us for some reason or another, telling us that we "could just starve" or something.
Luckily we had a big brother who was in his 20s at the time - he'd enlisted in the military so he was gone before things escalated after the divorce and never really saw how bad things got at home - my sister called him and he came over and taught us how to cook some pretty basic stuff like rice and German pancakes (the latter is a lot easier to make than you'd think).
But yeah, our dad was an asshole about dishes too, to the point where that was the reason why we left - that night he started beating, screaming, and dragging my sister around the house for not doing the dishes. She managed to get away from him and came back for me the next day.
For several years he STILL kept asking me why I left despite having punched, kicked, dragged my hair, and belittled me and made me feel worthless as a human being before I had even made it into the double digits on this earth.
Imagine still supporting slavery even after a civil war happened over it.
Imagine having zero empathy. Those people don't get that they could've just as easily been in their position.Lincoln was right when he said "no one is free until everyone is free"because potentially any race could be enslaved anywhere.
Imagine wanting to keep people as tools.
Gavin Graham14 the biggest slave trade was the Atlantic slave trade and itâs effects are still seen today
please dont bring the civil war into this, for one it was about much more then slavery and secondly lincoln was very ambigious about slavery for one he made it clear several times that he was not an abolitionist (the movement that wanted to outright abolish all slavery and their respective institutions) also he wasnt for equal rights for black people âI will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,â

If your partner makes a comment about slavery like that R U N
Its just gonna get worse over time and who knows they might even become abusive if you get married later on
There's no 'might' about it if you ask me. He clearly doesn't have any issues with slavery, and from what he said, it sounds like he would never look at the OP as anything more than his property if she ever became legally bound to him. Like, maybe there would be something they could salvage there if he was just ignorant and just needed to be educated, but it sounds like he knows full well how horrible slavery actually was and approved of it, and possibly even fetishized it considering what he said to his half black GF about what slavers did with half black women back then. The guy is messed up, and I don't think anything short of a miracle could fix that kind of messed up view on people.
@@MoostachedSaiyanPrince no no no. He never said he supported slavery. He said that SHE shouldn't feel oppressed when she, as a white-looking woman, would probably not have been a slave. He's probably wrong on that point since she is half black, but he never said he supported anything about that era.
@@codyjohnson6427 I dunno about that. I's kinda hard to tell exactly what he meant since all we have are the GF's summary of what he said. But I still think I'm right though. The way he completely dismissed the idea of her being offended by slavery because she doesn't look black despite her actually being half black and the way he suggested that she's have an easy life of "popping out white babies" tells me he doesn't think much of black people to begin with. I think he's either the kind of person who wouldn't have dated the OP to begin with if she took more after her black parent, or is one of those internet activist wannabes that are actually closeted racists themselves. I realize he never directly said he supports slavery or anything from that era, but how he said what he did is telling.
Moostached Saiyan Prince
*or women!
His comments were racist but maybe it really does come from a place of terrible terrible ignorance. But i canât give him the benefit of the doubt on âpopping out white babiesâ. What a luxury! Wouldnât anyone be so so happy to have no better choice than to be perpetually pregnant... his racism is awful, but the attitude to women is downright dangerous to OP
The think he he not wrong
I mean being a baby maker sucks. But that what a lot of people were in that time
Depending on what he meant I mean saying you be better off back them then some people is true
Damn, that first story got me really nervous it will end up badly, but the guy actually stood up for himself and his girlfriend, and fixed the issue like an adult. Proud of him.

Fumei - Oh I donât tease people who like it, but the story concept hurts my brain.
âYou shouldnât criticize racism because you look to whiteâ
?? Like white people shouldnât say that slavery is bad?? Iâm pretty sure everyone should be saying slavery is bad...
Edit: also Iâm pretty sure there is a book out there based on a real person family history that highlights the life of a female slave who was used as a mistress for her master. Fun fact: it was no better a life than being a slave working in the fields.
Let's not forget about the Irish slave trade that even continued after the Civil War, even in the north... the side that "fought against" it.
To be fair, there are plenty of people who claim/believe whites aren't even allowed to comment on racism simply because we're white.
adam harp
thatâs terrible thinking. Wow....
Iâd love to support my cousin who IS black. He is only 4 and More than anything I want him to have a life with equal opportunities as white people
@@ApplePi3.1415 Terrible thinking or not, it's true. Plenty of progressive asshats claim whites are unable to comment on racism because of our "privilege." It's an idiotic position to take, but what else would anyone expect from progressives? Also, your cousin _does_ have all the opportunities a white person has. "Systemic racism" is a bullshit idea thought up by left-wing dipshits so they can live out their own racist proclivities by "helping / saving" those brown people who the progressives continually claim are "unable to help themselves." If you want to address real racists, deal with all of the assholes who constantly claim blacks are unable to accomplish anything without whites helping.
Why do people keep assuming slavery is racist, if i have slaves and dont pick them based on race its not racist

I feel really bad for the person from the second story
The dad decides to believe in this girlfriend he only know for maybe a year or so instead of his own daughter.
And on top of that, He didn't even bother asking the whole story not try to contact her when she ran away.

@@davidrozo766 What a pathetic excuse of a father...
Your dadâs girlfriend is toxic. Sheâs probably trying to get rid of you as she views you as a thorn in her side. Once youâre gone, sheâs probably going to get bored, bleed him dry and leave once he canât pay for her expensive stuff.
Itâs not your fault that your dad is dealing with his grief by shutting out your mom and finding someone new. He needs to grow a backbone, see her for who she really is and leave her. Iâm glad you got out of that situation and hope you can mend your relationship.
Or, the kid really is badly behaved but would never admit it on reddit.
i 100% agree you took the words right out of my mouth. the father seemed like a genuine person willing to support his daughter but the gf is manipulating and ruining him. hopefully it wont be soon until he realizes what kind of person the gf is...
@@LesterMoe26 Saw this by a person named Savannah S: "There was an update and basically the father finally visited her with his stupid gf and basically told her that he didnt want her in his life anymore. Fucking heartbreaking and I want to castrate her father so he cant neglect more children with that hag of his"
Ops dad is clearly brain washed seeing as he's yelling like that at his daughter and is caring more about his girlfriend than his own daughter
The op who's dad chose his girlfriend over his child.
I relate. I literally just had to leave my mom for the same reasons. And tw(animal abuse/suicide/rape mention) her boyfriend verbally attacked me and threatened me with rape in front of her and she was convinced he was her "one" I tried to kill myself after being but in a very difficult financial decision due to him trying to kick me out and was hospitalized. I came out of the hospital to find my cat gone (he attacked and threw her onto the side of the road apparently, she was never found for a proper burial)
She finally left him after she got arrested for punching him when he attacked her. But the scars of her naivety are still strong on my heart. I'm packing up when I can. I know how hard it is to have a parent choose a stranger over you. You will get through this
That is just awful! (Especially you mentioning the rape threat and him murdering your cat)
Geez, you must be an incredible person to go through all that and come out with the strength and compassion to try to help other people out of the same place. God bless you.

It sounds like the dad was more willing to fill the void in his empty, empty heart by any means necessary than consider whatâs best for his daughter. I canât believe any parent would tell their child, âYou just want me to die alone.â
What a cruel man. She also said that she basically raised herself.

Even with that dudes own logic on slavery; people from all races across the world have been subject to slavery so therefore everyone should be able to criticize it.
Everyone should be able to criticize it anyway. It's unambiguously bad. I mean, one doesn't need to have been punched in the nose to think it would be unpleasant.
I feel so bad for that girl whose father is being awful to her. My Dad has a family of his own with another woman and hardly ever talks to me, so for her to go through that is heartbreaking. Stay strong hunâ€
That second story made me think about something that happened in my brother in laws family.
His brother has sons from eariler and all was fine until he meet his current wife. She hated his sons, and he took her side in everything.
Fast forward and he and his new wife have pretty much emptied out some bank accounts the sons grandmother had opened for them with some money to made it easier when it was time for them to move on their own. There is a bunch of other drama created by this psycho women, but I will skip that. Long story short is that he and his wife is now more or less broke and his sons, who all work, don't want anything to do with their father.
Last thing I heard that father and his wife had tried to borrow money from one of his sons, and they got a big fat no.
Yeah, the boyfriend from that last story sounds like he should be in a club of guys who hang around dressed in bedsheets. Seriously, OP needs to dump him, because it sounds like he barely views her as a person, and never would've starter dating OP in the first place if she took after her other parent more. My Verdicts:
1. OP made the right choice in getting better friends. If they won't respect Girlfriend's harmless hobby then they're the ones with the problem.
2. OP made the right choice in moving to her grandparents house; her father's girlfriend made the house toxic and it was important to get out. I hope the father sees reason and realizes he alienated his child, but if not then OP should stay away from him to put her well-being first.
3. OP should try asking sane relatives if they can help pay, or look into student loans. The mother clearly values her tribalism and her ego over the well-being of her child.
4. OP should break up with her boyfriend and find a better one. You don't need to be black to think slavery is wrong, you just need to have basic human empathy.
Omg, the story about the girl moving to her grandparents actually made me cry. It's so awful and I'm so furious with her dad. He doesn't deserve having her in his life

I'm glad that OP started living with their grandparents. It's extremely much better than seeing themselves crumble at the toxic atmosphere of their dad and his mean gf
They should call cps on his ass. What he did is basically verbal and emotional abuse.
He's trying to get over the loss of his wife by erasing everything involved with her so he can pretend the hurt isn't there. And that includes ignoring his daughter for the new GF who makes him feel good.
I have a auntie who is actually called Karen and who is actually anti vax
my condolences
I guess you could say she is an auntie vaxxer
My moms not anti vaxx but sheâs an essential oil freak and acts like a karen sometimes
That first one had a beautifully wholesome ending. I loved it.
I find it appalling how stupidly ignorant some people can be. "I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with facts." Facepalm.

Yet another Step parent story...
As I've commented on the last video, I'm a stepparent myself. The girl's story breaks my heart. One of the worst things a stepparent can do is force a person to either choose between them or their own children, which the stepmother of the story most certainly did, albeit not directly. I hope OPs dad can get his head out of his ass and see what kind of hurt he put his daughter through. A daughter, mind you, that has already gone through the trauma of losing a mother *way* too early. I hope OP is doing better with her grandparents and wish her all the best.
Me listening to the last one: leave him. Leave him. Leave him.
Yeah, she needs to dump his ass.
I'm not going to lie that second story was really heartbreaking it just upsets me that somebody like Opie's dad would literally choose a woman over them just because they selfishly say they don't want to die alone and but the funny thing is Opie's dad doesn't get that Opie is also dealing with the loss of her mother what's even worse is the fact that the father immediately allowed this woman to come into his life and destroy everything that once represented the unity between o p her mother and whatever other traditional father had with them and that's just sad I'm Justified and cheese with her grandparents she's cheering up a lot more than feeling way more better but the nerve or the dad to pull that crap
First story: I'm not a huge fan of Pokémon myself, but at least I respect people who are passionate about it. If anyone is making a mockery of the hobby someone you care about have, then those mockers are the ones you need to remove from your life.
Second story: Sounds like OP's dad is in denial and tries to start things over, and OP is essentially treated as a third wheel. His dramatic speech about his assumptions about OP was just an underhanded attempt to try and make her feel sorry for him. OP should _not_ feel sorry for him, as he's an adult and has no excuses for his awful behavior. And given his new GF's attitude, it probably won't be long before she leaves him too. It's ironic too, since he accused OP of wanting him to die alone, and it'll likely turn out that way if this is how he's chosen to move forward with his life.
Third story: It's stories like these that makes me wish there was some Child Protection laws established against this kind of juvenile blackmailing, treating it as serious as child abuse. It's not okay to physically harm a child, so why should psychological manipulation be any more tolerated?
Fourth story: Bigotry thrives on warping concepts to conveniently fit their narrative at any given point. It comes to no surprise that such people will spew any controversial, hypocritical and contradicting nonsense as a result, making up excuses along the way to try and justify anything they say. OP should totally dump this oppression-loving nutjob.
To the OP whose anti-vaxxer mom is holding their college education over their head if they get a Flu shot: Call your dad. He's gotta have a say in this, you're his daughter too.
Iâm glad the OP in the first one opened his eyes. I was getting mad cuz myself, my gf, my brother, my brotherâs wife, several of my friends and several of my and my brothers coworkers all play PokĂ©mon Go. Itâs not childish or embarrassing, and anyone who says so is just bitter and devoid of joy
To the OP whose father is erasing traces of his wife: Do you have any outside family you can go to? It seems your father's putting romance first above your needs to stay sane. My dad became like that in 2011 when a duratio hit and took off 25% of our roof. He then decided to get a new entertainment center, a new TV despite the fact our old TV worked, a new set of speakers, the works. So I feel you, girl.
Well, she did wind up moving in with her grandparents on her mom's side.
The last story: Sadly my uncle has the same belief, and would literally have slaves if he could. Now he has cancer

Pokemon, on a surface level, is a kids game. But once you get to EVs and IVs, abilities, team building, the Physical-Special Split, Shiny Hunting, Nuzlockes, and World Champion Leagues, you realize that what some view as just a slightly more complicated version of rock-paper-scissors, is actually more akin to chess. Pokemon, on a deeper level, is not a kids game.

OP with the horrible âstepmomâ. I feel for you. My dad got this new girlfriend when I was around 7 years old. She would verbally and sometimes physically abuse me. But I was the one getting yelled at because obviously I was the one provoking her. My whole family stood by and watched. She would pull my hair and yell at me while my grandmother was in the same room. She didnât help me. I wanted to kill myself. Iâm 25 and fine now. But theyâre still together and it hurts to know I will never have a close relationship with my father. OP please distance yourself from people who donât love and believe you. Itâs not worth chasing people who donât love you enough to protect you. You can choose your own family. And if that means staying with your grandparents, then thatâs absolutely enough. "Universally slavery is just wrong." I'll agree that it is absolutely wrong. People should be treated as people, not property.
However, it is not "universally" considered wrong. There are still countries/societies where slavery exists, or have indentured servants.
In fact, there are about 18M slaves in India alone worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-that-still-have-slavery
Edit: I said 18M world-wide, it's actually just India that has 18M by itself
Legally there is still slavery possible in the USA!!! It is not completely abolished!!!
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, EXCEPT AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME WHEREOF THE PARTY SHALL HAVE BEEN DULY CONVICTED

"What kind of world does that guy (racist boyfriend) live in!?" One where he thinks abuses of power don't exist in regards to slave women being forced into sex and pregnancy. Also a world where Thomas Jefferson abusing his slave and forcing her to have six children is a love story for the ages because she's depicted in nice dresses and the kids got violin lessons. It's classic abusive behavior to expect no repercussions from abuse or assault because you gave them something like a dinner, money, etc. Also only nutcases think that adult- child marriage is good because obvious abuse of power and children can only consent on a technicality; so only nutcases accept the idea of slave-master relations with a even weaker technicality. (Also masters offering slaves good things is the same as creepers offering children candy.)
It's an example of somebody thinking they're more woke than they actually are.

That too I think, Idk if youâre talking about the boyfriend or me
"You're just an exotic-looking white girl." Now you know what he's like. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.
as a 28-yr old pokemon fan that PROUDLY wears the human-pokedex title around my house I feel such a surge of sheer PRIDE at OP for apologizing to his GF, telling the bully-friends to grow up and even trying to understand pokemon better!!
god damn we need more dudes like him (not necessarily the pokemon bit but just guys who realize their mistakes, own up to them and fix the problem all while properly acting like a mature adult about it)
Uhhhhh being a baby factory for a plantation owner means being raped every single day and having to endure child birth several times with no help or assistance, possibly only from the other slaves. That wouldn't have been a cushy life at all.
to the girl that gets pushed out if her family from the new girlfriend:
For how this sounds to me, I suppose back in the days you always were much closer to your mum than your dad. The situation you described even before your dad got a new gf seems like, his priority was your mom, then a big gap of nothing, then you. There seems to be a disconnect between you and your dad and I think there is nothing you could have done about it.
As your mom died, you both had to deal with grief, but you both had a very different way to deal with it: While you want to keep your memory of your mom as vibrant as possible, your dad could not handle the reminder and desperately wanted to move on. He was so self centered about his own grief, that he couldn't recognize that there are 2 people griefing, so that is why you felt left alone after her death. Sad thing is, if your dad had connected you putting up the christmas star into the tree together with his wife, he probably would have ended that tradition on his own as well, I am sure, only for you it is a reminder of her, while for him it is a reminder of your childhood.
Now the new girlfriend comes along, the person he desperately needs to move on, and his daughter doesn't get along with her (or the other way around). This is one of the most clichee stories out there possible and probably every adult out there has prejudices about why ones child wouldn't accept ones new partner. And with you complaining you also are threatening his ability to move on as well. BUT: If he was close to you, if he knew you in and out, he'd be able to judge, if you are full of BS or if your complains have a merrit. To challenge your claims as untrue as an initial reaction might be okay, he doesn't want your accusations to be true after all. But thinking twice about it he should be able to come to his senses. That doesn't necessarily mean, that his new girlfriend has to go, even after she laughted about you with her friends. But he has to set boundries for his new girlfriend, has to make her aware, that she has every need to get along with you, not the other way around, because his daughter should come first - always.
I really hope for you, that your dad will see reason sooner rather than later and I can understand, why you moved to your grandparents. I don't think it is the right move to have done, but I can understand how it might have been the only way to keep you sane. It is not your fault that your father is neglecting you while his responsibility is to comfort you through these hard times.
The girl in the story about her dad and his girlfriend sounds similar to what I went through when my parents divorced. The girlfriend didnât care about me or my brother, and our dad just ignored us in favor of her and her kids. I havenât talked to him in almost 10 years.

I actually disagree with rslash's response to the flu vaccine story.
The student is starting college, they need to make the best choice for themselves. Yes, they are relying on the mother to provide funds for college, but if the school of their choice is requiring a flu vaccine and the mother is against it and threatening to withdraw funds, the student needs to make a grown up decision. Abide by the mother's request to change to a school that doesn't have a good engineering program for the sake of having their education paid for, or get vaccinated and stay at the school of their choice while getting scholarships and student loans. If the student indeed is staying in engineering, then they will definitely be able to pay the loans back.
This would be a good time for them to set boundaries and establish their own autonomy.
Plus, if it ever got out that the student falsified documents, she could really be in trouble with the university. Even if it is a good idea/trick to do, the school may not see it that way and penalize the student. Not worth the risk, in my book.
As a lifelong gamer. All i can say for the 1st post. Good job OP! That is a gamer move. I'm proud of you. You deserve a standing ovation my dude.đđœ

So, the only thing that remotely comes close to the last story is the Creoles of Color community in New Orleans. They were a community of bi-racial people in pre-civil times that were free and led pretty stable lives and the wealthy white chose most of their mistresses from them. This was still not a fantastic thing, they had to live with the stigma of being mistresses (marriage was increadbly rare) with out of wedlock children, and the pressure to find a rich white man to finacially provide for you and family. There's even a famous ghost story of one woman died on the roof because the man said he would marry her if she spent the night naked out there. It was middle of winter, so she froze to death. This arrangement of power never benefited the woman, so the dude is dumb af.
That first story was so wholesome in the end, brought tears to my eyes.
"Your a child for playing pokemon go!" "Now where was I? OH yeah fighting the ender dragon"
