This is how Gene Simmons of Kiss put it, "What kind of band is Rush? It's Rush!".
Oh man, if you're going to do Rush Live, you gotta check out YYZ Live in Rio! Brazilian Rush fans are second only to Canadian Rush fans, they LOVE the boys down there. YYZ proves that when the whole crowd is singing along to an instrumental! It's a Must See!
Also: #metalheadstax
For sureeee
I second this!
@sarahp9086, I agree with you to a point. Music fans in Brazil are some of the greatest fans you'll ever find anywhere in the world, no doubt. Don't get it twisted & think Brazilian fans are only like that with RUSH, cuz they're not. They're like that with almost every music artist that comes in concert to Brazil. There's a lot of extremely dedicated & die-hard fans in Brazil who appreciate music & artists more than fans in other countries sometimes. Bcuz they're not able see music artists in concert as often as other music fans around the world. So, it's no wonder why Brazilian fans are hard to beat at least live at concerts anyways. Outside of us, who beg to differ with you by you believing Canadian RUSH fans are the greatest of all just bcuz RUSH hails from Canada. Not that Canadian fans aren't big fans of RUSH or don't appreciate them, I'm sure they are & do very much. But, I've been a huge RUSH fan from almost day-1 & was one of the many rock fans from The-Land who helped put RUSH on the map. I still remember it like it was yesterday when me & a couple buddies were tearing up the streets in my '69 Camero blasting WMMS 100.7 on the car stereo & heard RUSH for the first time. When the DJ @MMS dropped the needle & gave "Working Man" a spin for the first time on the radio we weren't quite sure who it was honestly, but dug the f%ck out of it immediately. I may be biased here myself in believing we're the greatest RUSH fans in the world. Yet there's a good reason in my defense why Geddy, Alex & the late great Neil "the professor" Peart, (R.I.P. my friend) have continuously given Donna Halper, WMMS & RUSH fans in the city of Cleveland big props from the very beginning all the way "In The End." (pun intended) 😂🤣 Blah,ha!! But, don't take my word for it ask Geddy or Alex yourself. They'll back me up & tell you how grateful & how much appreciation they have for Cleveland rock fans that were always "In The Mood" to help them throughout their music career. Instead of the "Fly By Night" fans who are "In The Twilight Zone" & didn't "Stick It Out." No disrespect to any RUSH fan wherever they come from in the world. Let's keep it a buck, cuz it's really no mystery about the love RUSH fans in Cleveland have for RUSH, eh'? 🤔 ++Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend++ 🤘😜🤘
Rush is a band that needs to be reviewed LIVE❤🇨🇦
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
But if your into lyrics studio first it’s a lot of the songs
I Disagree. The clarity of the studio versions are pure perfection.
@leroythemaster4268 you may disagree but Geddy himself said they are a touring band and they pride themselves in making their lives better than the studio version...so doesn't really matter what you think😅
@@kimbarry4674 Wow, most RUSH fans aren't such big Dicks.
Take a chill pill.
"If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice"
So simple, so succinct.
💯🔥
I always wanted that on a t shirt
RIP Professor. I think at heart he was a poet that happened to be a world-class drummer
🔥🔥🔥
Best 3 man band ever.Rush music is progressive rock.Geddy Lee singer, bassist, keyboardist and plays keys and bass with pedels,Alex Lifeson guitarist,Neil Peart drummer and writes all the lyrics. RIP NEIL Peart 🙏.
Enjoy the Rush ride.
Review La Villa Strangiato live studio version it's a instrumental.
Luv your reactions.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
3 guys soloing in perfect unison, an amazing piece of music.
Thinkers music! I've seen them live over 30 times starting in the mid 80s....the trees, limelight, spirit of radio!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Don't forget Subdivisions!
Of all the great lyrics in "Freewill" you seized on the lyric that I think is the most awe-inspiring - "Genetic blends, with uncertain ends, on a fortune hunt that's far too fleet." Nothing describes the human condition better. RIP Neil; great reaction!
💙💙💙
My favourite live version of Freewill is from the Exit Stage Left video; another song you may like from the same video is Limelight, which features Alex's favourite solo to perform live, supported by an amazing bass line from Geddy and more amazing drum work from Neil. Cheers from Toronto!
🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
This is one of my favourite Alex Lifeson solos!
Rush's live videos usually do not get blocked like some of the other artists.
Yes, they are their own genre!
Working man live in Cleveland
will blow you away!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hi Stax, I love that you are enjoying Rush so much. Rush themselves fall into the Progressive rock category for their compositional endeavors. Thank you for this and enjoying their music. Cheers Stax.
Rock on!❤️
OH STax!!! Im so glad to see you... life suck for me.. you are the only good thing.. thank you . .. love you so much!!!
Wow sue thank you so much, hope things get better I love you too
This is such a powerful and uplifting piece. I consider this to be one of the best rock songs EVER. Nice choice man.
🔥🔥🙏🏽🙏🏽
Factssss
These 3 guys are on another level when it comes to lyricism and musicianship… truly pioneers in progressive rock, they are just so freakin good
Factsss
I agree pioneers of heavy prog but not prog per se - check out King Crimson in the Court of the Crimson King 1969 (Greg Lake from ELP on bass/vocals and Robert Fripp guitars) or earlier bands such as The Soft Machine 1966 and of course you have Pink Floyd who started in late 60's with Syd Barrett's pyschodelic prog, early Genesis with Peter Gabriel and so on...
@@compnnburns8831 all of them an Yes was a huge prog band then as well
I’ve Seen yes, pink Floyd, genesis and ELP all back in the 70’s all incredible prog bands
The breakdown is actually a guitar, bass, and drum solo. I remember an interview with Alex (the guitar player), and he was asked about this song's guitar solo, and he said something along the lines of, "I was just trying to keep up with Geddy (the bass player) and Neil (the drummer)."
It is a truly amazing piece of music. You almost can't hear everything that is going on. Truly brilliant.
Rewind for a guitar solo? Always down for that!
🔥🔥🙌🙌
#metalheadSTAX
Do your thing big STAX!
Let’s gooo you’re a loyalll
I will watch and like every Rush song you do... Unless I disagree with one, haha. Live version of this from Exit... Sage Left is probably the gold standard. Rush has literally 100 other songs worth listening tp though (some personal favorites are Witch Hunt, Countdown, Show Don't Tell, Working Man. 2112, La Villa Strangiato).
Buckle up, Rush is an amazing ride through a huge catalog of greatness, the "thinking man's band". LaVilla Strangiato, 2112, Cygnus X1 books 1 and 2, A Neil Peart drum solo like live in Frankfurt...enjoy the trip.
Rock on!
Subdivisions by Rush should be a definite listen.
Bettt
Yessss and Working Man is my 2 top jams from Rush🤘🏽😎
CRASH! I am over the moon that you've decided to go down a Rush road as I've said before. SO good! Give 'Something For Nothing' (audio) a go. Life lesson lyrics-truth. Well done Stax this is fantastic mate. ❤🇬🇧 CRASH
Let’s goooo
The wonderful and incredible Rush!!!!
🔥🔥‼️
🎶🎵🎶 Fantastic reaction Stax 🔥🔥 to a fantastic band and song 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you lindaaa
I always recommend listening to the studio version and the live version to gain a whole new level of appreciation for their musical mastery 😁
🔥🔥‼️
Welcome to Canadian Wizard Rock. Stay Happy and Healthy.
🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️
All three JUST 3 of them are going ballistic-Alex(guitar)is shredding, ripping and wailing to get really specific on his playing.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎹🎤🥇🇨🇦🎼
🙌🙌🔥🔥
Hell yeah!
Let’s goo
No dive into Rush is complete without experiencing "The Trees" and "2112"....Stax if you decide to do 2112, you MUST do the full 20 minute version. Its 7 songs all ran together like Chapters of a book or Acts of a Musical Opera.....PURE MASTERPIECE! The Storyline is absolute Genius....
Bettttt
Awesome 👌 👏 👍
Thanks 🤗
Geddy Lee; Bass Player Magazine bass player of the year, twice. "Prog Rock" Les Claypool said that when he jammed with Geddy Lee it was hard to keep up. Usually Rush cover bands need four people to what they did with three.
RUSH and YES are progressive rock, TOOL would be progressive/psychedelic metal…. All basically give a big middle finger to their record companies and make songs as long as they like.
Ahhhh gotcha
RUSH WORLDS GREATEST 3 PIECE ORCHESTRA 🥁🎸🎸🎙🎼🎵🎙
R.IP. NEIL PEART YOU ARE MISSED😊
Well said
Another great Rush reaction 😎👍
Thanks again!
Thanks for the great reaction. Oh, all 3 were going ballistic during that solo. 😊
No problem 😊
The solo is three absolutely insane solos at once.
🙌🙌‼️‼️
Awesome reaction, Stax, thanks again ...Todd from Ohio...
No problem todddd
Esse show me marcou pra sempre! ❤
You already know the story about meeting Rush when I was a kid. But these guys live are absolutely awesome . Spirit of radio live is fire. I've seen them twice in 88 and 03 and Neil's drum solo is Epic. He's the GOAT. You should check out his drum solo live from Frankfurt. It's when they're older but Epic is all I can say about that. Neil wrote the lyrics for Rush. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
Wow so amazing
This is the first Rush song I learned on guitar. That solo is a masterpiece.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another great song with a blistering solo is "The Camera Eye". In my opinion, Geddy performs his greatest vocal performance on that song. And near the end of the song, it goes into a blistering solo - almost as good as the one on Freewill.
Betttt
Aww, so happy to be with you on your musical excursion today. Keep exploring!
Thank you! Will do!
Metal head Stax !
You’re a loyallll
@@StaxReacts yes , I got you !
The entire 2012 album is gold. No bad song!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
Neil Peart. The only drummer who can play ahead of the beat, and behind the beat legitimately in the same Bar. Unbelievable. They will never be duplicated...
🙌🙌🙌
This reaction made me subscribe-let’s see where this goes 👍😉🫡❤️🙏
Let’s gooo welcome
Me too. Rush brings people together.
A great song! Great reaction!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥

🔥❤️❤️
Fantastic reaction! ❤
Thank you!! 😁
Rush is a lifelong journey. You could keep your channel going for years doing rush reactions alone.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
🏆🏆🏆🏆
🔥💯
Live Rush is the best.
👀👀👀
Always live😂❤🎉😅😮😊😊😊
💙💙💙
Try Limelight studio version
A fan since the early 70s, have fun on your continued Rush journey. Btw, Metal? Try the he metal covers from Leo Morraccholi, FrogLeap Sudios. More than 400 covers. Ridiculously talented. Great production on the videos. Definitely wworth you time. Toto's Africa or Adele's Hello have fun ✌
🔥🔥🔥
Awe man! I wish you did the live version from the Exit Stage left tour ! Check it out !
I would have sat here and listened if you ran Alex's guitar solo back 10 times!!
🔥🔥🔥
Any " solo " is a 3 person solo jam!!!
From west coast Canada 🇨🇦, peace.
Betttt
Try freewill live in Cleveland concert for a start perhaps, great reaction
You are right don’t try to label Rush music , And be ready to expect the unexpected , in diversity with fire 🔥
🙋🏾♀️ May I suggest Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) or La Villa Strangiato. Both will give you 😆 "Rush Face" 🤔 and both songs have enough breaks to allow you to pause without being 🙄 accosted by the 'peanut gallery'.
For 2112 I suggest the 'Comic Book Graphic Novel' video version. It will allow you to follow the story AND has the lyrics in it. 😊🥰🐰
Betttt thank you
Neil wrote most of the songs once he joined the band. He was a very complicated person, he was an Atheist and loved philosophy so the writings of Nietzsche and Socrates were big influences, and for the most part a Libertarian politically. Many of his lyrics was also influenced by the writings of Ayn Rand.
🙏🙏🙏
I don't consider Rush to be Metal. Hard Rock? Yeah. Progressive Rock? Yeah. Metal? Eh... But that's just me.
They were whatever they wanted to be, whenever they wanted to be it.
They experimented. They were everything they wanted to be. In both my and the bands later years I have really come to appreciate Alex‘s bluesy guitar licks.
@@beadybaby Yeah, and apparently they wanted to be Prog
I saw Rish 18 times !
Wow that’s a lot 🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@StaxReacts That's how good they are. Hope you check out some live stuff. They left us with about 10 awesome concert DVDS. Start with Xanadu and Freewill from the Exit Stage Left concert. Enjoy !
Hi Stax! **Luvit** YAY
Hiii, glad you enjoyed
Have watched over 1,000 Rush reaction videos. Yours might be the best. Subscribed immediately. Keep on going. Natural Science please.
Wow, thank you!
Great job man. Thank you for replaying the highlight of this song . Finally someone who accurately appreciates Rush. This is a top 3 song for Rush. It IS the best BASS solo within a song in Rush history. Just so you know, most Rush fans have been feminized to favoring weak songs like Time Stand Still over Freewill. It’s a total disgrace.
Be warned when asked to take a recommendation from a Rush fan.
The best live version of Freewill is from 1981. Nothing else comes close.
Thank you so much, I’ll be open to check more out
In short, Neil is rejecting the notion that our lives are pre-ordained, controlled by others, or determined by gods. He also disparages those that refuse accountability for their own outcomes.
Some seem to misinterpret elements as him describing the way things are, but seem to overlook the opening line of both those descriptions... "There are those who think...". The subsequent two paragraphs, both times that line is repeated, describe what Neil believed to be a mistaken mindset. Ultimately, he believed you control your destiny, and you're responsible for the outcome.
That’s right
Bro you have just opened a can of worms!!!
Let’s goooo
You need to do Spirit of the Radio next. Some suggest YYZ, but I don't think you are ready for it 🙂
🙌🙌🙌
Prog rock, my friend, progressive rock.
🔥🔥🙌
@StaxReacts you should check out Yes if you like this type of rock. Same era, and damned good as well.
Try Rush live nobody's hero 1997. or mission live 1988 or show don't tell live 1990 .any live Rush is a great choice...
Betttt
LOVE!!! :) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
Listen to "working man" for a out of this world Guitar solo.
Betttt
If you do YYZ do YYZ live in Rio see 60,000 fans sing to no lyrics 😳
Go back and listen to the guitar solo again, but completely ignore the guitar. Listen to the bass and the drums, and how they work together. It’s a masterpiece even without the guitar!
Will do
Freewill is still my all time favorite Rush song. Best guitar solo ever because all instruments are showing off at the same time.
😅🔥🔥🙌
You need to discover the other Canadian genius, a bloke by the name of Devin Townsend, if you haven't already. Check him out, react to him, thank me later....
🙏🏽🙏🏽‼️🔥
What kind of music is Rush?
It's RUSH
Rightttt
This is definitely not disco or new metal. Closest thing would be 'progressive rock'. But you're right that Rush is kind of their own genre.
🙌🙌🙌
Look up the real Permanent Waves album cover. That’s not it.
Betttt
You could do a whole month of reactions
And still will not cover all Of this band's catalog
Ahhhh mannnn
Nu metal what is it??
It's just RUSH
🙌🙌🔥🔥
