Best 3 man orchestra. Life in the 80s.
Hello from Brasil! This song, in addition to having sublime lyrics, has in its instrumental part one of the most "monstrous" solos of all time and certainly THE most monstrous of Rush's career: guitar, bass and drums soloing AT THE SAME TIME, extracting EVERYTHING from their instruments!
The drummer, Neil Peart, wrote the lyrics for this song and most of Rush's catalogue. When it can time to put his lyrics to music, Neil would often follow the suggestions of Geddy Lee (bass, keyboard, singer) to change the lyrics slightly to make it easier to sing. But ,yeah, deep lyrics, big words and complex melodies.
Quite simply three geniuses at the peak of their creativity and masters of their art 🎸
“Each of us, a cell of awareness, imperfect and incomplete. Genetic blends with uncertain ends on a fortune hunt that’s far too fleet.” Genius lyric, incredible song.🔥👍
One of the all time great instrumental breaks with the 3 of them playing furiously followed by Geddy's unbelievably high but beautifully controlled vocals.
Yes, I made a similar comment a few years ago too. 👍
I saw Rush 7 or 8 times in concert and when they played "Freewill," everyone was standing and cheering.
One of their most underrated songs. It’s my favorite Rush song. 🤘
Each of us, a cell of awareness, imperfect and incomplete… Genetic blends with uncertain ends, in a fortune hunt that’s far too fleet…. I mean…Wow!
Their time changes, flawless. Their timing, ridiculously on point always. The lyrics (RIP PROFEESOR) complex but insightful. Keep exploring their catalog FTW. Thanks.
I definitely appreciate watching reactions from people who know something about music, and care about lyrics.
Cerebral lyrics like these got Neil the nickname of "The Professor". Listening to Rush improves the thinking man's mind exponentially.
He actually got the name "The Professor" because Alex and Geddy thought he looked like the professor off Gilligan's island. Although if ever an epithet fitted Neil Peart then it was definitely this one.
I dig that you dig into the lyrics. Especially for Rush.
Peace ☮️ Love ❤️ and Joy 😊 to you and yours
RUSH ON EH!!!
#rushfamily
Hello from Cody Wyoming 😊you're awesome keep it up... cannot go wrong with Rush. 3 member band
Faith does not always have to do with religion. It has more to do with spirituality...
What is spirituality? Simply a sense we are part of the universe we live in?
My second favorite band from the progressive era and the they’re unique as well as my number one Jethro Tull. I think you would like their music by checking out the albums produced from 1969 - 1980 because they are all different from each other. Lyrics are great and accompanied by remarkable music. I will check back on your channel for a reaction to any of their songs/albums. There’s lots of live concerts to view, but the first you should see is their set at the Isle of Wight festival 1970
The singer Is Geddy Lee he is also the Bass player , This guy can can sing and play the bass parts at the same time
Fort Worth here too… and huge RUSH fan.
Great reaction! Keep the RUSH coming!! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
Great reaction. Loved your comments about the lyric composition and delivery
Glad you enjoyed it
Check out Working man Live in Cleveland , see how three guys in their 50s end a three hour concert 🔥 🔥 🔥
👍 Cheers Fabian, Good work.
Many thanks!
🤗 Woo Hoo! More Rush! 🤩 🥰🐰
Just a quick FYI. Drummer, Neil Peart's name is pronounced P-ear-t. Pronounce the ear like the ear on your head with a hard tuh t sound on the end
🔥🔥🔥🔥 TY

This song is best listened to from the live concert in Montreal 1981.
if you never heard Rush in your life , you dont like prog
Great choice ty Great job
The irony here is that you are blessing us in the name of a conquering mythology, while experiencing a song that speaks of the 1st fragile steps away from the mindtrap that is religion. Keep listening to bands like Rush, and you will also learn Freewill!
I like Rush but true freedom can only be found in God. Trying to find freedom in yourself or society is the real trap. You are then only slaves to biology or other men. Oh and BTW there is likely no freewill without God.
The double irony is that being honest with free will takes you more and more into THAT conquering “mythology” until you see it’s no myth at all ❤
🏆🏆🏆🏆!
🫶🏼
Tough song to perform due to the one high pitch moment at the end. Gradually stopped playing this song near the end of their career.
Made it as far as the prayer crap. Noped right out
God bless
@@deadams how completely insulting
God Bless
