  • We get our gardening hands on a pair of the Swiss-made, award-winning Felco 2 pruning secateurs and put them to the test to see if they really live up to the high expectations we have after seeing Laura at @gardenanswer (CZcams channel) recommend them.
While reviewing the Felco 2 we also take a look at some of the other crafted gardening tools that Felco make and try out the Felco 211-60 loppers for some hardier pruning tasks on our smallholding.
We give you our first impressions and an honest opinion, and see if they are worth the investment and whether they will become a staple gardening tool for us in the long-term.

I’m not in the UK but here in Australia Felco are still the gold standard. I love my Felco 2 & 8. I also have another Felco 2 which are very special to me which were my grandfathers when he was in horticulture in the 70s. They are well used and need some TLC to their former glory.

I think Felcos should be the gold standard everywhere 😀 Your grandfather's Felco 2s sound awesome.

I recommend getting a Felco 910+ holster (with sharpener loop) for the Felco 2 pruning shears and Felco 903 diamond sharpener. The 910+ stops one losing the sharpener, which is easily mislaid.
If you are doing half day long pruning sessions many recommend the Felco 7 pruning shears, though it is better advised to switch to other tasks, take regular breaks and keep hands warm to help prevent upper limb disorders and not rely only on tooling. All day every day pruning go battery eg Felco 822+ or other models, Infaco Electrocoup F3015 or consumer battery pruners e'g Bahco BLC 21 or 22.

I'm super nosy, I know but what were you cutting at 3:35 and 3:45 ? And why were you cutting the tops off and not getting the roots?
Also nice cutters. Will look into them.

Those are anenomes, a variety called Mr. Fokker (be careful how you say it), that Kirsten grew from bulbs this year.

On the Felco 2 pruners/secatuers everything is not metal -- the handle grips are plastic

The handles are dipped. They’re metal underneath.

@@MyHomeFarm You said "EVERYTHING is metal"

    • @MyHomeFarm

The handles are metal. They just have a thin coat of dipped plastic for grip and for them not be slippery.
