    My inspiration for gardening came from my grandfather who was a very passionate, amateur gardener. A few years ago we inherited all his gardening tools, many of which were decades old and it reminded us of a time when tools were built to last the lifetime of the gardener and required upkeep and maintenance.
    Our experience until recently was quite the opposite. We had purchased what we thought were quality tools, only to have them break after a few months or years - in fact, I remember one that only lasted a couple of weeks before falling to pieces.
    Felco has put us back on track because they make tools that are expertly built and thoughtfully crafted, utilising Swiss precision, and if anything does need replacing it doesn’t render the tool useless because we can easily purchase the required spare part. This supports our buy well, buy once and sustainable values.

    Good video! I just picked up my first pair of Felco #2’s. A family friend here in Ohio who is a champion rose gardener has been in my ear about Felco for a couple years. They’re pricey but I subscribe to the “Buy once, Cry Once” philosophy regarding consumer products. My only other criticism about the #2’s is the locking mechanism is awfully tight and a little challenging to move out of the box but it could actually be purposeful design and it’s a very minor criticism of what is otherwise an elegantly designed product! As CZcamsr tool guru “Wranglerstar” might say it just “gives me the fizz” when I hold it! 😊

      Thank you Brett. Glad you found it helpful and useful. You can loosen the locking mechanism to make it less tight. They are terrific secateurs though and you’ll get years of use out of them.

      You’re welcome Kerstin. You’ll love the Felco 2 - it’s an investment of a secateur. Good choice.

      @@MyHomeFarm Just bought the ARS9 as they sounded preferred, but the Felco 2 does look to be a great pair also. Wish I could have tried both; in the U.S.

      @@MyHomeFarm ARS made Felco saws when they started selling those (before going with korean-made ones like today) and are still making the 310-series snips in Japan.
      btw, your 300 was made in Managio, Italy by one of the very good manufacturers there like Due Cigni, Sta-For or Due Buoi. excellent stuff overall, you can't really go wrong with any of it. 😼👌

    i just got felco 2! do you find them a little big? thoughts on felco 6?

    • @MyHomeFarm
      @MyHomeFarm  Před 3 lety +4

      Thanks for the question Jessica. Regarding size, no I don’t find them (Felco 2) too big, and I use a large pair. To give you an idea of the size of my hand, I wear a medium (which is a perfect fit) in a washing up glove or Marigold. I can wear a large, but it would be a little bit loose. Most of the Felco secateurs come in small, medium and large sizes, and you can take them out of the packet in the shop to feel them and see if the size is correct for you. I don’t have any thoughts on the Felco 6 yet as I have not tried them, but we do have a review coming soon for a selection of Felcos, I’m just not sure yet if the Felco 6 will be included in that. Hope this helps, and thanks very much for watching.
