@@michaelnelson1127 the deck was extremely consistent, really good at breaking boards, didn't care about floodgates and could easily otk. I argue that it still be good in todays format, it's pretty similar to Rocket link. Put those two together and it has even more power

I remember being confused about Dark Matter Dragon being banned, because at the time I still thought Blue-Eyes was the best meta deck and didn't think it was that broken.

This was the opportuny for dragon ruler to become tier 0 for once. But banlist said no
Dragon Rulers were absolutely a tier zero deck once Judgement was banned

They were the world champion deck of 2013. They beat prophecy that was considered Tier 0... dragon rulers were considered tier 0
Dragon Rulers where never Tier 0, as being tier 0 requires over 65% of the placements, what they where no where near that as the format had another top deck.

Adamancipator was so powerful that konami crippled it at a point where there is nothing but non official online tournaments that they make no money off of. Thats remarkable

Coming from schools that never gave Yugioh a chance, I love hearing all these stories of the shenanigans I've missed over the years. One day I'll find me some Yugioh friends and finally get to play again!
You can start by playing online and making friends there. Maybe you can check the local shops that host tournaments near you. It's all fun

CZcams and dn was where I made my friends at. Summercamps when I was younger/ how I got introduced.

I think that the production quality on your videos have gone up a notch recently. Not to say that your videos were low quality before, just that this one in particular is very good. The music volume was perfect in the background. Not too loud but I could hear it clearly. Very well made video top to bottom.

As a guy who played number 95 for fun in his Blue-Eyes deck before it was banned, this gives me a sad nostalgia.
I'd send dragon spirit of white, arkbrave dragon, and a white stone of legend.
On the standby phase, the arkbrave would give me the dragon spirit, which would banish back row, then any time the dragon spirit was jeopardized while the opponent controlled a monster, I'd tag it out.
Min-Maxing decks is why we can't have nice things.

I miss dark matter, it made my felgrand deck really powerfull, and in my current rank 8 spam deck it would be just a game changer
New drinking game, take a shot of rum everytime he says "dragon".
This was yugioh's own version of set rotation. Dragon rulers had to go so the other decks could function.
Some people might not agree with me, but the same thing happened to World Chalice when they lost Ib, with agarpain it was nuts.

Arc V is simultaneously my favorite and least favorite era on the tcg. On one hand, we had some great products, many viable decks, and the return of forgotten mechanics like fusion and synchro.
On the other hand, we had obscure power creep, multiple tier 0 decks, and the maximum crisis distribution fiasco.
I'm stupid, what happened with Maximum Crisis?

Konami tried to be slick and short-printed the secrets in Maximum Crisis like crazy. People reported entire cases with no secret rares. Konami claimed that the people opening boxes were just unlucky, but once it became apparent that the missing secrets weren't a coincidence, Konami claimed that it was a "mistake" and replaced the defective cases.

Duelist Alliance and HAT are 2 of my favourite formats. I miss the xyz-just before pepe era's
This is around the time I came in. Built e heros (was young at time) then transitioned to Masked heros and Infernoids and did pretty well with my budget decks. I miss this format.
For the longest time, I mained Hieratic Rulers. Man, it was my all time favorite deck, how I missed them.
I still hold on to these cards till this day, although i don't get my hopes up for it to come back but if it does im ready for them.

I can live with an elpy ban if it meant 95 could come back even at just 1. With galactic spiral dragon now existing, i could use the hieratic build to do old fashioned chaos dragon builds

2012 format post inzektor/windup/rescue rabbit deck nerfs was the best format ever hell diverse during that year period you had dark worlds too glad beasts show up and do work.
I ran a blue-eyes deck at that time that took FULL advantage of this, lasting until dark matter got banned. It was glorious, but since number 97 came out there's been other options.
i mean getting a 33k beatstick out so easily with numeron combo aint that bad. Just gotta time it right so it dont get negated
i used this deck only in the yugioh game for xbox and it went crazy first turn kill everytime no if ands or buts

I didn't know the Dragon Ruler format that used Dark Matter. In 2016 I thought it was kinda busted if there was a way to turbo it out. Well up until Links really did that and busted the card.
Id truthfully love to see these old decks against the new meta.
They wouldn't be able to compete at all. Watch Lithium2300's videos on that same exact topic.
I think Dark Matter Dragon Ruler should be considered an option for Cross Banlist format.

I remember I was gonna play this deck at a regional but my boss scheduled to work that day. I was piss cuz I’m normally off on Sundays and I missed my chance to actually play with the deck.
I remember that weekend like it was yesterday
I got this card not knowing a ban list was coming up and never got a chance to play it since I was at a family event.
I remember abusing this engine in galaxies, it was enjoyable.
Legend has it that mkhol40 still has that shirt on till this day
I remember in Duelist Alliance i played Ritual Beasts, and despite the fact that i got to banish 3-9 RB monster's, this deck was a massive pain in the ass to play against when going First. Because unless you knew ahead of time you were against it, and sure as an RB player i'd set 2+ Steeds.
At the time, if i remember correctly, the format was mostly "Play Floodgate monster/set back row and pass." when going first, thinking Nekroz, Shaddol's(Construct) and RB(Search and Set 3 traps). Then you of course had BA and Evilswarm(Rarely) along with a few other's. That sucks because guess what, they can not only play around it but also get over it with EASE, that shit sucked i got OTK'ed by this deck SO OFTEN and this was before Hand Traps were extremely common as well, before ASH or Ghost Ogre even existed too. So i'm watching this Dragon Player dump half his deck into his graveyard, summon 5 extra deck monster's on his first turn, despite how many Responses i had and OTK me.
I hated playing against that deck just as much as i hate playing against the same kind of decks now.

My main for fun deck would be Phantom Knighys, but Galaxy-deck is OP
I still play with a "Remove From Play" deck with stuff like D.D. Warrior and Macro Cosmos....I have enough cards to basically counter anything somebody will do, and effects that can delete virtually any monster and counter summons of all kinds, and all with the minimum card limit.
Very rarely lose when I get to duel people who like to to a "Free Play" where there are no illegal cards.
Around this time was the last time I played. Man, I kinda miss those days.

Before they banned Dark Matter Dragon I woulf always use him with Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand. I was a little sad about the ban because I lost a great way to dump Felgrand and Arkbrave into my GY but the ban was gona happen eventualy because of how busted Dark Matter dragon was in other decks.
Their was a tournament my locals had and we could use banned cards as limited expect certain ones and they forgot to put djinn on their. My first game I locked down my opponent and then they restarted the tournament and added it to the list of cards we couldn't use. I still won the tournament even without the lock

Played against this deck where red-eyes sword was combined into the deck to beef up number 95, but I was playing cyber dragon ftk. Literally overpowered the dark matter dragon with cyber end with power bond and limiter removal. I got asked to leave though because I was suspected of cheating for drawing into a power bond at the time, but I ended up getting the dragon ruler player banned for two weeks from the shop for being a poor sport.

That moment is when i started to play Yugioh.. i wanted to create a good deck in Dueling network so i google "best yugioh deck" and i copied this Darkmatter dragon ruler deck. I got rekted so hard because i didn't know what to do and a few dudes message me "hahahah I BEAT DRAGON RULERS WITH ROGUE", "Imagine losing using dragon ruler lmao". Good memories

As someone who put the game down in Dragon Ruler vs Spellbooks format it’s good to see the reign truly come to an end. Power creep is necessary in Yu-Gi-Oh but some archetypes should’ve never been made

The funny thing is I was buying everything for this deck at the time but as soon as I got everything shit already got put on the banlist so I just played lightsworns and eventually synchrons until I quit yu-gi-oh my senior year of high school in late 2017
