    I thought of something. So there’s a really old Trap card in Yugioh called Appropriate. Basically what it does is if your opponent draws cards outside of the draw phase (meaning by card effect) you get to draw 2 cards. Me and my friend made old school 2002 Exodia decks and faced them off against each other while each of us had a face-up Appropriate on our fields, I had activated Pot of Greed, his Appropriate Traps effect activated, then mine activated its effect and it went on and on till one of us drew out Exodia from our infinite draw loop thing

    • @bmxriderforlife1234
      @bmxriderforlife1234 Před rokem

      One area where they outdue mtg but far. Mtg has so many infinite loops including endless ones that aren't useful and in contests they result in an instant draw. I actually have an entire deck concept built for open format contests if it's ever officially supported using an infinite loop cheese deck that can win game 1 then force draw games 2 and 3 or stall and kinda cheese even harder.
      But alot of pros currently will run meta decks where it's easy to include a bad infinite loop for emergency draw condition.
      Hence my idea was use it back against those players. And kinda cheese players that wouldn't do it into being scared of me doing it and wasting negates till another cheese combo comes online.
      Deck resetting. Shuffle graveyard into deck. Use banish and endless monster zones to have only spells. Think of a deck thinning based draw deck but now think of it running a 3rd or more less cards in yugioh and still being legal cause you did it mid game but also doesn't have to worry about deck out.
      Infinite life. Infinite goblin tokens. Flying which can only be blocked by flying. Death touch so anything they touch dies instantly. The one goblin combo doubles goblins via tokens every turn. Other combo due to infinite mana and untap and tap strats can get me as many as I need till I get the second one going. Tap untap strats is how most monsters use effects in mtg. So being able to endless use those effects or untap monsters means any effect almost becomes infinite.
      Means kinda normal win cons I can cheese. Cheese unfair win cons like deck out no hand constant deck and hand discard and banishment or a mix. Direct attacks. Infect which only needs 10 damage to kill. Piercing. Instant death field clearing. Like literally all the cheese and toxic.
      But every set in modern had ways to abuse some of it. Also think it's why open isn't supported. The ban lists would be nuts and it's push certain reserve list cards they won't reprint or functional reprint even higher value since open allows every card from every gen except bans and limits like yugioh. With the huge mtg list they'd need specific combo band in open most likely due to the huge card list and functional reprints. 3 of this monster 3 of that monster with the same effect 3 of this one that has same effect but slightly higher cost. You could essentially build some decks that function like running 9 plus of the same card with minimum deck requirements unaffected.

  • @foetoid1310
    @foetoid1310 Před 5 lety +162

    I recently had an idea for an infinite "gain life points" loop involving the two cards "Fire Princess" and "Prime Material Dragon". Fire Princess effect is: "when you gain LP, inflict 500 damage to your opponent." Prime material dragon's effect is: "Any effect that would inflict damage to a player instead increases their Life Points by the same amount." The idea is that you put Fire princess on both players field and prime material dragon on either field and use any lp gain or lp damage effect. Which prime material dragon will turn into gaining those lp instead, which would trigger fire princess to inflict damage to the opponent, but material dragon turns inflict to gain, which triggers the other fire princess in an endless loop of both players gaining life points. I've been trying to find a way with this via summon sorceress turn 1 and some other supporting cards but haven't been able to correctly pull it off yet.

    The reason for some 'weird' things happening with Pole Position was because it destroys the highest Atk monster on the field when the card is removed from the field. So in the first 2 cases, Pole Position was destroyed for causing an illegal move, and the highest Atk monster at the time was on your side and was also destroyed. In the 3rd example, it destroyed Summoned Skull because it was the highest Atk monster at the time of Pole Position being destroyed (since Pole Position was destroyed before Slifer's Atk was calculated from the draw)

So it behaves correctly (stoploop removes the looping card), but still adheres to the events attached to the card (current target of card is removed).
      It doesn't deem monsters targeted by effects illegal. If it did that, there would be different behavior in some of the other examples. It just executes the card responsible for the loop.

      From this list it looks like the same thing in yugioh, so even if the same “draw rule” were applied on yugioh, adding a bunch of unplayables to your deck to sometimes be able to draw would not break the rule imo.

    I think the reason Pole Position so often destroys the monster involved in the loop is because YGOPro just destroys Pole Position, but Pole Position destroys the monster with the highest attack on thr field when it's destroyed. This even works with the Slifer scenario because Slifer's attack would then become equal to Summoned Skull, and ordinarily you would choose which monster is destroyed as it is your card effect. I think the reason it does not present that choice and the card interactions don't occur in real time is because the programming just collapses in on itself as it tries to figure out what to do to avoid the loop.

    On June 19th, 2008, in a minor league baseball game of the Staten Island Yankees vs the Brooklyn Cyclones, a pitcher named Pat Venditte made his debut to get the final out of the game. Pat Venditte is a unique player, given that he is what is known as a switch pitcher, a pitcher who is able to throw just as good with his left hand as he can with his right, which makes him very versatile. After walking the first batter, Ralph Henriquez came up to the plate. Henriquez is what is known as a switch hitter, or an ambidextrous batter (these are much more common than switch pitchers). In the over 100 years that baseball has existed, this is the first recorded instance of a switch pitcher pitching to a switch hitter. Henriquez entered the right hand batter’s box, which made Venditte switch to pitching left handed to maintain his advantage. This prompted Henriquez to switch over to the left handed batter’s box to get the advantage back, prompting Venditte to switch to using his right hand. The game ground to a halt as these two kept switching for several minutes, as the umpires gathered on the field to attempt to handle the situation, as no rule existed to keep either of them from switching in response to eachother, and it could theoretically have gone on for eternity according to the rulebook. To end the madness, the umpires made the decision to force Henriquez to bat right handed, after which Venditte struck him out in 4 pitches to end the game. In response to this, the MLB immediately drafted a new rule to keep this from happening when Venditte was eventually called up to the Major League. Sound familiar at all?

    I have an infinite loop for you. Take the spell card moon mirror shield and the wicked avatar. If you have a monster, let's just say blue eyes white dragon and you equip it with moon mirror shield, during the battle phase it will gain 100 attack points and be the strongest monster on the field. The other half of this is with the wicked avatar. Since its effect is to be 100 points stronger than the strongest card on the field, a loop would continue forever. Just thought you should know

      Actually as a judge I can rule this for you. Moon mirror shield is an effect that activates during damage calculation, while the wicked avatar is a continuous effect, so moon mirror shield would activate, raising the monsters attack to 100 higher than the wicked avatar, and immediately the continuous effect would raise the wicked avatars attack, but since moon mirror shield already activated, it would not start again, and the wicked avatar would win that battle.

One of my favorite wow youtubers. :D This is pretty awesome.

    One I know of very well is the one that constantly happened when I dueled my brother. I started with the Dinosaur structure deck, and that included Ultimate Tyranno on it's ranks. He used the Ancient Gear structure deck but he also had a Legendary Fisher, that can't be targeted for a battle. Since my version of Ultimate Tyranno didn't have the errata that fixes this problem, whenever both were summoned the game was over since I'd be forced to attack every monster and be unable to do anything else until that happened, and his monster would never be attacked. Because of this I tended to save my Lightning Vortex and later also the Volcanic Queen I got from a booster pack just to get rid of his card, and he also tended to save up his Sakuretsu Armor to get rid of mine.
    This is what the new text of Ultimate Tyranno means, you CAN attack with all your monsters during your battle phase, it's just that instead of automatically attacking, now it simply can attack all monsters you want from the enemy field, and until your Ultimate Tyranno runs out of targets that can be attacked you can't attack with any other monster.

    Back in the day, an illegal move with hero mask was around; you get out wicked avatar use hero mask to change avatars name to (let's say) avian. Now it doesn't consider itself "the wicked avatar" and when calculating its attack, causing it to infinitely gain 100 atk over and over.

    @Hiushisan Před 5 lety +1

    Maybe they should change Pole Position's effect to "The monster with the highest ORIGINAL Atk is unaffected by spell cards", I know there're things like Megamorph that change original atk, but it would solve a lot of problems while still keeping the card usable and understandable.

    Seriously, does Konami even stop to think "Is there a way people can exploit this card in a way we didn't intend?" They've made so many cards that are accidentally too powerful that I don't think they do.

      well it's very hard to think about all the combinations the new cards can do with the other 93473912 cards on the game 😭 i feel bad for them cuz they probably have to think a lot before creating a new card with a original effect cuz there's a lot of times things went bad

    I ran into an infinite loop on yugioh duel links evolution. Theres a world legacy card that states, negate the effects of all of your opponents monster who are in the same colom as a mekk-knight. They summoned a light sworn monster that destroys a spell/trap card on summon. The monster effect would go off, then the trap would negate it, then the monster effect would go off, activating the trap card, and it did this infinitely

    1 Manticore of darkness on the field; 1 Manticore of darkness in the graveyard; 1 card of safe return activated.
    Activate manticore, sacrifice 2nd manticore to special summon manticore from the graveyard, draw a card because of card of safe return and repeat from the beginning. Infinite draw loop.

    I remember having a deck where I accidentally noticed a really complicated loop while dueling with a friend. It was a LIGHT/DARK deck, with monsters mostly from Structure Deck Rise of the Dragon Lords and the Light of Destruction boosters. It basically involved using Arcana Force XXI - The World and some of the Dragons in RotDL to infinitely skip the opponents turn, and win in (arguably) one turn. I gave away all my cards years ago, so I'm not too sure how it played out, but if I can manage to rebuild the deck, I'll let you know.

    Oh, I figured out how YGOPro works with Pole Position just now I think. 2 years later.
    Basically when it gets destroyed due to causing an illegal loop, YGOPro also it also destroys the strongest monster on the field by its second effect. In all those other cases it was Stratos (due to the spell cards boosting it), and in the final case it was summoned skull (because you hadn't drawn the card yet so it was strongest)
