    • @Brawler_1337
      @Brawler_1337 Před 2 lety +17

      Absolutely. They had to know that two DM Legendary Collections in a row wouldn’t sell all that well because most of the iconic chase cards for those would either be banned cards or cards that were too shitty for the modern game. Most of the high rarity stuff for Joey’s World had just been in Yugi’s World, and there wasn’t much incentive to print other cards at that rarity.

    In fact, Dragon Rulers liked putting stuff in the graveyard so much that they actually sometimes called 3 & 4 with Sixth Sense. That's because drawing 3 or 4 cards was incredibly good, but so was milling 5 or 6 cards. Choosing 3 & 4 is hedging your bets so that 2/3 times you get a really good result, while choosing 5 & 6 meant you had a 1/3 chance of an amazing result and 1/3 chance of an okay result.

    • @shanoc5902
      @shanoc5902 Před 2 lety +4

      @@dresdenblack3905 Milling 3-4 cards is a good result, just not as good as drawing 3-4 cards. Having cards in the graveyard is good for almost any deck because there are a lot of cards that either target the graveyard or can be used from the graveyard. Having a card in your hand is better aside from specific decks but getting cards in your hand isn't as easy as getting them into the graveyard. Choosing 5/6 on Sixth sense is basically auto-winning the game if you get the draw effect because you're more or less guaranteed to get enough cards to be able to do whatever you want, and in decks that are consistent and powerful enough they have a good chance of winning even if you only choose 3/4 cards and get the draw effect, then since you need to take a 1/3rd chance of milling a high number of cards (3/4 or 5/6, heck some people might even choose 3/6 if they feel that draw 4/5 is enough to win) then you will more consistently win off of Sixth Sense if you make the mill effect as high as possible without compromising your ability to win off of the draw effect.

      Also I suspect (though can't be sure) that sets that introduced long term trends (like those that made negates more common, or that began the addition of hand traps, or turn one focus) would likely have a larger overall impact than sets that "only" introduced a new summoning mechanic but otherwise kept the game fundamentally the same

I played until the day before the ban list dropped and then I sold everything and moved on from yugioh. The ban list at the time took my 40 card deck and gutted it in half. Broadbull is still probably one of the top 3 best cards on this list sadly, like dude was a pretty generic rota that could then become a way to get an extra level 4 summon as well as reattaching the material it used for the search then it usually just became a disruption piece that your opponent couldn't swing over.. Like as an engine idk if many archtypes really compare to Zoo in terms of how good the engine was versus how much deck space they required to be an effective engine. I think it was like 12-15 cards total main deck and you just had to run what 5-6 extra deck slots for the XYZ monsters if you wanted to consistently recycle them. Like i definitely think you're totally correct with how strong they were, like full power zoo with that +6 or 7 fusion sub combo can and does compete well with any other tier zero deck np and might just win if they use handtraps, which zoo can run a lot of, on the right cards. I have heard some people talk about Zoo as probably fair now to unban and I heavily disagree, like they're pretty power creep proof as an archtype and would be used to the end of time as an engine in Beast-Warrior decks at least if not as a way to just use the rank 4 tool box very, very efficiently in any archetype that can special summon rank 4s.
