a formal system would be almost impossible to implement in Costa Rica, because most streets don't even have names, some streets that do have names don't even extend to the next town over, the place is a maze, if you named every street, you would have the exact same problem anyways, it would probably be just as easy to use landmarks anyways.

If you go to Costa Rica…. VISIT TORTUGUERO!!! It’s in a national park so you are only able to enter on guided tours/overnight stays. However, it’s incredible. The scenery is stunning and you get to be right up close to the wildlife. There’s no road access, only boat, and they also offer boat tours to observe wildlife. You can see sloths, caymans, crocodiles, spiders, birds, everything. And they also offer tours to view the turtles laying their eggs, right up close and in person.
I’m currently mid way through a 3 week trip in CR travelling all round the whole country, and Tortuguero was the first stop. It’s been an absolutely incredible experience so I urge you, if you can afford it, to visit Tortuguero. Pura vida ✌🏻🇨🇷🇿🇦

Lots of people are comparing Costa Rica to Panama. I found the people in Costa Rica much friendlier, and the taxis not as corrupt in Costa Rica, and I met many more English speakers. Also less people are after the gringos for their money in Costa Rica. I had so many people in Costa Rica just want to talk because they wanted to talk to a gringo. In Panama if someone is talking to you a lot they usually want something. But in Panama I have only been to Panama City and one of the beach areas. But San Jose did have some areas where people want the gringo's money also.

I had a friend whose house address was: At the pulpería turn left, two blocks then right, then at the tree turn left, there's a dead end, it's the fourth house on the right, not the left.
Because the blocks were not the same size on the left. xD

I've tried. xD

Legit my address is 2km from toll heading east, left from church (that is no longer there), 1.5km (that's a lie but we don't wanna measure exactly) house with blue gate.
Also the government doesn't ask privet roads to be named so if I'm using Uber i technically live on 'un named road' as the name of the road.
I'm not scared of sending out my address cuz it would be imposible to find with the province, region, or town, so :P and even then people get lost

Something that I found interesting when I was doing my foreign exchange in Costa Rica is that there were a number of vegetarian/vegan restaurants. Like, I swear there were maybe three in San José alone, which is interesting because San José isn't a very touristy destination. Either way, being the veghead that I am, I was pleasantly surprised. Also, if you love smoothies, you're in for a treat. Like, every other stand sells smoothies, and they're way more affordable than up here in Wisconsin, where I live.

Costa Rica has no army, and has universal health care. Yes, a small "poor" country has an universal health care. The Ticos live almost as long as the Americans while spending per person 1/9 of the American health expenditures per person. The health system is pretty good. How USA has not a universal health care, and cannot control the health expenses is something I am unable to understand. I'm sure that the mystery of the Holy Trinity is more understandable.
They have also a very good education system, ranked in 2014 20th of the world. All that in a small country without natural resources, except mountains and jungles...Pura vida.

Thanks for the precision. The cipher I had remembered was a close match. I have found the source of the ciphers. Those of the OMS estimations put the 2 countries at pair.
Another fact the USA are lagging far behind West and North Europe, and Japan, who are spending in health far less than the USA, and there is little difference of life expectancy between the social classes in these countries.
In the States the difference is shocking, the rich live as long as Swedish people, the poor less than some Africans. In a moral point of view I do no understand how a very rich country can leave a part of hits citizens without proper health care.
The US expectancy has been going down since a few years as more people is joining the army of those with no or bad health insurance in this country.
The same thing is happening to the level of education. Superior education is now unfordable for the lower incomes, and for many a heavy debt.

That's totally true tho. If we have an appointment or party we say it's gonna start like an hour earlier (let's say 7pm) so that the people start arriving whenever you want (8pm for this example)(and sometimes it's more than an hour). Moreover, I think this is terrible about us... Always late 😂
