Which Series Actually Qualify For Super Licence Points In 2019?

  • I've talked a lot about the FIA Super Licence recently, but what I haven't done is gone through which of the championships this year actually meet the requirements to award them.
So in today's video, I will go through all the 'single-seater' championships that took place this year and work out whether or not they will be eligible, or if it even matters if they don't.
Hopefully this will be the last video on the subject for a while.

Hey everyone, back to Super Licence talk again I know but hopefully this will be the last time!
I'm back to taking suggestions again, so if you have any ideas that fit the theme of what I've done before (and as long as it's something I can learn) then send them my way!
Thanks again for all your support and enjoy the video!

Well, the FIA has changed the superlicense rules again to adapt the 12 driver minimum clause, so this might already be obsolete :(

Just saw that, they don't want to give me five minutes without a video being obsolete.
Guess it just means I have to do ANOTHER follow up.
      Thanks FIA.

I'm amazed by both quality of the content and the fact that very few people know about it :c

    Great video as always Jacob!
For me it does seem that, the more the FIA wants to make solid standards, the more inconsistent it gets. Like these criteria is not always met as you said at the end about Frederik Vesti or what happened with the Asia Winter Series (in which Dan Ticktum participated just for the license points, but got smashed by his own ego).
In my opinion, FIA should lower the car count from 16 to 14 (and from 12 to 10 drivers in order to give 75% of the points). I know that low count car championships are kinda boring and nonsense, but it is not easy to sustain many categories with more than 10 drivers each race, either for geographical reasons or better suited alternative options. Maybe lowering the driver minimum would promote smaller championships to have a healthier championship grid and would avoid the concentration of drivers in certain championships like Italian F4.

It does seem like the competitor aspect is the biggest bottle neck for points. A lower limit might help smooth things over and make the smaller championships more enticing for young drivers who might not want to get involved if the points aren't there (aka Ticktum).
Then again, we probably don't want a driver to rack up the points and have 40 by the Regional F3 level, so perhaps drivers being forced to take part in FIA F3 and F2 is better in the long run (but would then make the system pointless).

How about the American single seater ladder. Had a lot going on since cart and indycar had rival championships then merged plus lots more since then

From the vide video the 16 competitor rule seems too strict. These series already have fewer points. Mot everyone can afford to race in the main series
