Do The Feeder Categories Really Need A (Another) Points System?

In early December 2019, Jean Todt and the FIA floated around the idea of a Super Licence style system for the Feeder Categories in order to make sure that the drivers racing in the higher tiers were capable enough.
But do we actually need another system on top of what we already have? In this video, I discuss what already exists, how the proposed system could look like, and ultimately why we don't need one.
We may not always get the best drivers in series like FIA Formula 2 or FIA Formula 3, but what we do get are full grids. I think this is far more important than gatekeeping potential stars of the future.

At the end of the day, those drivers who pull off terrible results compete because they have a ton of money, and those with talent can't move through the ladder. Unless the economics of feeder series change in such a way that teams don't need to rely on pay drivers, the issue will worsen with time. Even karting has become horrendously expensive
