  • Since FIA Formula 2 & FIA Formula 3 will (at some point) start their seasons this year, I wanted to do a quick recap of all the changes the two series have undergone for 2020 to get you up to speed.
    Since these are just small recaps, if you are new to both series, then I recommend watching the 'Introduction' videos I've created previously.
    • FIA Formula 2: • An Introduction To FIA...
    • FIA Formula 3: • An Introduction To FIA...
    *This video was much longer, but recent events made most of that information redundant, so apologies for the shorter video.
    This video is accurate up until March 14th 2020.

    So if you didn't read the description, this video is a lot shorter than usual due to the current events happening across the motorsport world. I'll have another video out soon discussing that, but I didn't want to waste a video because of it. Anyway thanks for watching and as always if you have any suggestions or thoughts, then let me know!

    Very good as always. Hopefully we get some racing this year in any series.
    Stay healthy Jacob!

    Thanks a lot for the video! The points change for F3 really makes sense in my eyes, since the grid is so huge.

    • @JacobBosley
      @JacobBosley  Před 4 lety +1

      If it were up to me I'd be putting Race 1 down to at least the top 15 for points, since there's double the amount of cars.
      There was the 'Formula Renault NEC' series a while back that awarded points to the top 20 and even then there were cars that didn't score. It meant that drivers who had accidents or qualified poorly weren't completely punished for the entire weekend.

      @@JacobBosley Exactly. It's a pity that last year drivers such as Ye Yifei, Felipe Drugovich, Logan Sargaent... couldn't get many points despite having made good comebacks from behind just because they didn't finish in the first third of the grid. This doesn't reflect their skills at all!

      Those were exactly the drivers I was thinking of.

    Do you think F2 should get a boost in performance? I mean, they are only 5 seconds away from F3 and 12-13 second away from F1, so the jump is too big. Maybe adding 7 gears and a little more underbody downforce may help without affecting the wheel to wheel racing.

    • @JacobBosley
      @JacobBosley  Před 3 lety +2

      It might help make the two series a bit more distinguished but I think as of right now Formula 2 has found quite a sweet spot in terms of car performance and the ability for said car to race closely with each other. It's more like Formula 3 could be slowed down if anything.

    • @tiutubanana7506
      @tiutubanana7506 Před 3 lety +2

      @@JacobBosley true, F3 could also bee slowed down, maybe detune it from 380hp to 350hp

    • @JacobBosley
      @JacobBosley  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm sure the next car revision (whenever that will be given everything going on) will see the rest of the ladder all level out. If F3 is detuned too much it will start getting close to Regional F3 instead. Once F1 has the big regulation change all the Feeder Series will follow suit eventually.

      @@JacobBosley I dont know the pace of a regional F3 in track like spa or catalunya, hard to find info about that class. But its true, F1 will get a little bit slower in 2022.

      A shame but completely understandable given the circumstances, hopefully the pandemic doesn't take a turn for the worse and the season starts any later than June.
