The Rejects: FIA Formula Two (2009-2012)

Did you know that Formula Two existed at the turn of last decade? Well a lot of people didn't, and for good reason, the series has left next to no legacy despite running for 4 years.
So why is that? In the first video of a new series called 'The Rejects', I take a look at the championship, how it was created, and discuss ultimately why the initiative to have a low cost racing series ended up failing rather than succeeding against its more expensive competitors.

Hey everyone! First video of the new series is here! I'd have loved to make the video longer but honestly the series was so forgettable thats about all there really is to it.

The case studies here are incredible and I'm surprised it took this long for head protection to get implemented.

Somehow there's still people who want it gone. Probably the same people who think "real F1" is when drivers are killed in crashes every year.

@@rodracer4567 I guess the distance between the screen of the viewer and the reality of the accident makes it all more difficult to realize that at the end of the day there people's lives at a stake. I wouldn't attribute this kind of attitude to maliciousness in people's wa y of thinking, rather than the spectacle of hyperreality makes is all more difficult to see through.

Only 1 of their drivers ever made it to F1, Jolyon Palmer, who was 21st in 2009, and 2nd in 2010.

Very nice to see this new series. I never heard about this F2.
Btw interesting for me, that Mirko Bortolotti won it 2011. A very good GT driver and a friendly guy. Always nice to have some words with him in the paddock :D
I am really looking forward which other series you will show us next :)

mirko was close to F1, iirc he still holds the lap record around the ferrari test track in the F2008 when he tested

I guess he had not the luck to get a seat in F1.

I only remember this series because Robert Wickens raced there. At the time it looked like he had a good chance of accomplishing the rare feat of being a Canadian driver to make it to F1 without either a filthy rich family or the surname Villeneuve
