My KIA Sorento suffered catastrophic engine damage due to the faultly oil pressure switch assembly which was the reason for the KIA recall. Besides the leak which went undetected and relativley sudden, the oil pressure warning light never turned on. KIA in 2022 had mailed a letter regarding the Oil Pressure Swith Leaking New Vehicle Warranty Extension to 15yrs/150K mi., along with a reimbursement form for damages, expenses. I submitted the form. My certified auto mechanic provided documentation and expert written testimony supporting the catastrophic engine damage was due to the faulty oil pressure switch assembly. KIA has to date denied two submissions, one made in response to a first denial, each for trivial reasons which for I have provided more documentation debunking each denial. Basically this is an effort by KIA to renege on thier extended warranty. Next step is Small Claims court with additional damages and losses.
This shows on the 2014 but I'm looking for a 2015 which is in a different location same problem any ideas for I might be looking icy oil in the back imagine it might be in the back of the block
whats the difference between this sensor/switch and the one located deep under the intake plenum ? Other video on YT notes the one under intake is a common source of large oil leak, often mis-diagnosed. Mine is 2014 Kia Sorento 3.3L.
Hello, the two main sources of leaks on these engines will the the oil pressure switch that is located under the intake manifold runner(look at the connector mentioned in the video for traces of oil) and the other would be the engine oil filter housing. thanks for watching
I have a 2014 Kia Sorento and the oil light came on and It wouldn’t accelerate above 35mph, then the engine just turned off. Now it won’t stay on when I try to start it. It quickly shuts off. The auto diagnostic computer we have reads P2096 and recommends replacing the O2 sensors? Could that be the cause?
Dude, thank you. 17 sorento, thought the oil pump was going. Couldnt find the OPS anywhere. No info online. Having a all around bad day. Finally found your video. At least now i know that i have to pull the plenum to chane the dang thing. However, is there a way to check oil pressure with the engine in a running state if the car only has a dummy light? Aside from tearing it down and installing a gauge and whatnot
Hello Dissidence383 Unfortunately.. No... there are no service ports for the OPS...and the oil pumps on these vehicles are very reliable. Now you say you have a 2017 which a 3.3L gdi engine.. before doing a tear down.. there are a few items you will need because they are one time use... *GDI High Pressure pump fuel lines-- Not changing these could cause leaks and possible fire. *All GDI Injector seals(3 pieces per injector) plus combustion seal and seal installer. these injector seals are along the lines of diesel injector seals-- one time use,.... not changing these could lead to combustion chamber leaks and possible a fire *intake plenum and mainfold seals. I do have a tear down video for this but have not completed it yet.. For the injector seals install please watch this video.... GDI Seal Install czcams.com/video/dA9j5CEaIYw/video.html Sorry for getting back to you so late.. Thanks for watching..
@@JLsAutoSolution I have a 2015 Sedona with the 3.3 and I have 120K miles on it. I am planning to change the spark plugs and thought I would also try to do the oil pressure switch at the same time. Do you have to remove the fuel rails and injectors to get at the OPS? I have heard these switches are an issue on the 3.3 motor, but mine is not leaking. In your professional opinion, if I have made it to 120k miles with no leaks from the OPS, does it seem that my part is OK? Should it be replaced as a precaution? If I have the work done to get to the spark plugs I was thinking it might be good to do the OPS as well, but if I need to replace fuel lines and injector seals, etc., it feels like more than I bargained for unless it is really necessary. I know you can't promise anything, but just wondering about your experience with these switches on these motors. Thanks for this video and for any input you can offer!
@@JLsAutoSolution They said the whine is from the alternator due to a bad terminal connector and want to charge me $62 for a "shim." Is this oil switch responsible to make a oil leak? I have an oil leak & i replaced the oil seals but still the leak there, pls advise, santa fe 2018, 3.3
I just had mine replaced today kia changed me $454 the part was only $15 never go to the dealership. im so mad because they made sound like the car was messed up
was it 454 with diag and replacement or only replacement- on a sorento(non gdi) this is a 1.3 hr job(for a experienced kia tech) plus the parts intake plenum gaskets/intake manifold gaskets/oil pressure switch.engine cleaning .. look closely at the reciept and see why they charged 454$. there may be other things that were not mentioned to you(but should have been). thanks for watching

Just can't seem to locate this actual sensor because maybe a 2015 and they're showing me of 14

Wow, so its not as simple as i was hoping it to be. That figures. Even still, thank you for all the information.
@@nicholash383 uploading a quick cideo to show the location
$150 @ the dealership later and that's all they did to find where my leak was from. SMH wish I found this earlier. Thanks for the info tho.

Just like to know the location of the oil switch sensor is it under the intake or is it in the back of the block on a 2015 2.4
Hu tom.. The switch is located under the intake manifold which is located under the intake plenum
Is this same as the pcv valve ? I can’t find it on my 2014 Kia sorento
No sorry.. your PCV valve is located on the valve cover.
Hello, and where is the switch located? Thank you

yes the oil switch can cause an oil leak inbetween the engine and trans mission but also the oil filter housing
Can that be the same for the v6?
this was on a v6😁.

Why does the motor make that noise?
what you were hearing was the gdi pump clicking.. The audio tried to reduce back ground noise..
