- My SONY A7ii video settings! Since I have published my SONY A7II Low Light Test video I get a lot of questions about how I set up my Sony A7II for Filmmaking. So in this video I show you which settings you should use to capture some nice cinematic videos with your Sony A7II.
I am talking about all Sony a7ii video settings: FPS, how to expose with shutter, F. and ISO, which focus I am using and the most important thing: Colorprofile.

Man just shot a wedding using your settings, I was amazed how much I can recover the colors.. Specially with shots inside the hotel where it is a bit in the yellow side.. Managed to fix it easily.. Thanks.. now I am bringing these settings to my a6500 and see how it goes..

Hey, thanks for the video! Just a question, with cine4 i can set the iso to a minimum of 400 instead of 200, which makes everything a bit bright. Any workaround around that one or how do you shot outside in the sun?
you could work with a ND-filter or otherwise go up with the shutter a little bit (you won't see a big difference) and sometimes I shoot with a higher f stop.
You have tested on A7II the Sony 35mm. f.2.8, I tried it quickly, and even taking photos only I was not hooked the AFC, what is tfor you he better choice for photo and video with A/ mkII

Hello, i have used This color profil and i get an image without good view of details. That is normal ? (A7ii with 28-70 f2.8 sigma)

Dude thanks for the tips! Those settings are dope. Can I ask do you shoot in 16:9 or 3:2 aspect ratio for talking head? It seems 3:2 gives better quality but isn't as wide. Cheers, mate!

awesome explanation, i currently own a sony a7ii too cause i don usually shoot 4k (my pc cant play it bck smoothly anyways) but i hav a question, what is the best lens for autofocus on a7ii cause my prime lens currently doing a real bad job keeping focus

My 50mm prime lense is bad as well in AF
I am pretty happy with the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 - when the light is good the AF performance is great. But in bad light I used to focus manually 👍🏽

Hi @Maik Hansen can you please help me in deciding which camera to get. I tried a7ii and a7c. I really liked colors on a7ii. But I’m not sure because I’m hearing a lot about auto focus. Please help me in choosing. Can we capture motion like fast walking and ball gown spin etc ?
in photography the a7ii will cover these needs. For videography I would recommend to get a newer camera like the a7iii or a7c
Can i set the autofocus speed in the movie mode on the sony a7ii? for me it's a litle bit to lazy in AF-C mode. I have tamron 28-70 and a7II.
TBH I don't know - at least I haven't recovered it yet 😅 If you find it out let me know but as far as I can concern the video AF is just not that good...

I use davinci resolve - the best and easiest software to get a natural and good looking image for FREE 🙏🏼

i went with the a7ii and it was great for me - but i never had the a6400
for real estate videography
how about handheld videos - will enough built-in stabilization (in camera + kit lens = double stabilization?)
or gimbal all the same necessary?
When I think of real estate videos I imagine a VERY clear and stabled footage - therefor I would go with a gimbal!
But if you want to have the handheld look then you're fine without a gimbal 😅

hi Maik Hansen I want to ask about what Picture Profile you used for your camera settings and I still don't understand on the part (details 4K = -6, 1080p = 0)
because in the Details section of the Picture Profile there are only Level and Adjust options
The camera can shoot 60fps by changing the NTSC/PAL setting. Great content for beginners

I know that but I didn't changed it because of the different light in Europe - I don't know why but it makes a difference
Best video settings for this camera is 60fps and as second option 25fps depending your needs.I have set it to Neutral style with contrast -3 saturation -1 and sharpness -3 and I color grading in post.I never shooting above 640/800 iso.Above that range, noise levels (especially for the night shots) become annoying.I m always shooting in manual mode for both video and pictures because I' m using mostly vintage lenses.Generally speaking ,I am avoid to take night shoots because this camera is not ideal performer in low light but if I have to I m shooting with a 50 mm mc takumar at f1.4 or a similar nikon. You have to compromise a bit with frame to frame sharpness but you will be able to reduce iso levels.

So If I want a cinematic look like 24p but with some scenes In my film In slowmotion and some at normal speed like the 24 frames per sec how do I do that.. set my camera to 50p 1/100 and slow it down 50% for slowmotion and about 25% or something to look like 24 fps?? Becasue I want the film to be In 24fps as final.
then just film in 50fps and you can play back in real time (100%) and just the scenes for slow motion in 50%.
Then just render the video as always and you are good! You won't see a big difference to 24fps

Hello aspiring videographer here! I have the sony a7ii but when I got to detail I didint have the 4k or 1080p settings :( is this because of my lense?
Hey Claudia. There is no 4k on Sony 7ii
Just 1080. It's good enough when you have a perfect light. It's just a image resolution, nothing to see with the lenses

When shooting with Cine4 color profile, do you have to over or under expose your shot or should the light meter be at 0? I’ve heard some people say they like to over expose around .7-what do you think?
I still need to figure it out but somewhere around 0 is all good 👍🏽
In my opinion it doesn’t make a huge difference
Easier to fix an under exposed shot than an over exposed shot.
@@robhansen5830 Of course, but like S-log for example you must overexpose to get a usable profile. Since this comment, I have learned to overexpose Cine4 at .3-.5 during the daylight/sunny environment and .7-1.0 at night. That at least has worked for me.

No it’s just a different setting. I’m not sure about the name but i could akos change it in the settings 😊
i have the sony a7ii and the video is utter garbage, i set it all up correctly but when ever i download the footage it comes out sort of fuzzy and not clear. Not sure if this has anything to do with the lens but would appreciate some help if you know anything? 🙏

@@MaikHansen hey Maik danke dir ich habe das Video geschaut, dort arbeitest du mit slog2 ich weiß nicht ob diese Einstellungen hier noch aktuell sind. Habe erstmal gewerkelt und dir bei insta Geschrieben. Speziell bei pp7 bzw Slog2 habe ich noch viel Krisel von iso400-1600. ich weiß nicht wie gut Bzw einfach das beim graden bei Final Cut zu beseitigen ist. Vlt gibts ansonsten auch eine gute Einstellung ohne Slog2 :)

Hi! I have an issue with my a7ii...
When I turn it on it shakes and makes a strange noise, like a kick from the inside of the camera. And when I turn it off it makes another little shake and sound, but smaller than the first one.
Is it the ibis? The sensor cleaning? I don't think it's normal
I only know the shake when you first turn on the sensor cleaning and it shouldn’t do it when you haven’t turn on on sensor cleaning 🧐
I would recommend you to go in some camera store and ask there for help

Yes there is one! It depends on which lens you are using if it's good or bad. With my Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 It performs really well 😊👍🏼

I have always hated auto focus. I used it for a few shots in 2000 with the Sony PDF150 DVCam and just hated it. I also hated the auto exposure... I like the find the correct settings, just set it and leave it. I would shoot concert videos with a pretty stable environment in manual mode. No bright to dark to focusing on the back of the stage to the front... in and out, in and out. You are going to be out of focus as much as you are in focus. It sucks. Think about the shot before you make it. That was then. Now, for photos I use a laptop with my Canon 2000D to get in there for a great focus setting. That is not video.

In pal mode it's only possible to shoot in 50fps 😊
@@MaikHansen what you mean by that? I’m also from Europe and have Sony a7II. You can change it. It has nothing to do with location. Im using NTFS. Check settings
